I'm looking for some video games where your actions shape the world that your in. An example may be a game like Dark Cloud, where you get to create the towns that you go into. Now go!!

When I saw the topic title, I specifically thought of Fracture. The whole game is set around the fact that you can manipulate the environment in a variety of ways. It was a pretty interesting concept, but I didn't think it was particularly well implemented.

It sounds like you're looking for a game that has some elements of a god sim, but isn't one. The main ones I'm thinking of are Legend of Mana, Minecraft, and Okami.

Havn't heard of Dark Cloud, and I got ninja'd with Populous & Black & White, so I guess Minecraft, since you can pretty much build whatever you feel like. Or maybe something like the Dungeon keeper games.
Or maybe the Settlers games, I've never played them but people seem to like them and I think they're in that sort of genre.
I take it you mean literally shape the world, rather than RPG-like games where your actions determine events, outcomes etc?

I'd say ActRaiser, since you litterally create a world for people to live in.

Also Okami, where you rid the world of demons and bring back all the gods to return peace.

Deus Ex as well, since almost every choice can have a result. For example, go into a hostage situtation running and gunning? The military soldiers will love ya, but the armory man will scold you for it, and give you non-lethal weapons. Go in peacefully, military soldiers will call you weak, but the armory guy will love ya and give you better stuff. Thats the best example I can think of for world shaping.

After that... dunno, Roller Coaster Tycoon? Create a theme park for your people? I had fun with that...

EDIT: ninja'd with Okami...

Not exactly. I'm looking for a game where the world really seems "real." Where your actions actually have an effect on what the world is like, weather it is a big impact or a small one.

Well, you could go with the Universe Sandbox for where you create the universe and do whatever you want with it, but it's a bit dull. I think there was a game called RPG Maker 3 for PS2 where you could make your own RPG. But in terms of what you're looking for I believe, most of it has already been mentioned.

Black and White instantly came to mind (The first seemed more god mode than the second in my opinion). Also Terraria fits your criteria pretty well.

I guess Spore sort of counted but not exact. During the evolution stages you don't alter your planet until you on the city stage. From there you can unit your creatures under the banner of wars, trades or peaces.
Once you get to the space stage however you can create your own planet where you can alter the landscape, temperatures (either a barren inhabitant world or a world fill of life) and jump start the life form on that planet to evolves.

Maybe the first Fable then, the Fallout games or Bioware RPGs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. They all have a sorta 'choices and consequences/impacts' thing going on.

Tropico, Sim City, ect, Where you can have an effect on people, or are you looking for a world manipulator? If so then I suggest waiting for "From Dust".

I see, but that description is still kind of vague. In Okami, your actions rejuvenate the world by blooming trees and whatnot, but you do that as part of the plot and not as a "choice" like in Mass Effect. Are you asking about that games that give you the choice to impact the world in different ways?

Three words for you, Black And White
Your actions affect everything that happens and what everything looks like and how people act towards you etc.
