Indigo Prophecy. I loved that game when it was just this psychotic tale of murder and character.

But then...well yeah, anyone who knows about the second half of that game knows why I didn't like it.
This, I enjoyed the story until it turned into matrix reloaded with quicktime events.
And whats up with that love story? Those characters barely spoke to one another and suddenly they are having sex in a damn metro at exceptionally cold weather, oh and the guy was undead or something, apparently that didn't bother her.

Another vote for KOTOR. I remember seeing the ending and wondering really is that all? Glad to see I'm not the only one who also thought Oblivion and FF8 were off

My other big one is Uncharted 2. I like the adventure and ruins exploring enough to tolerate the shooting. Then you hit the monastery where there's suddenly three straight hours of nothing but shooting. I especially loved the part where they send snipers, riot shields, and those heavily armored guys with shotguns who are indifferent to your 60 bullets...
I hit that wall in Uncharted 1. I liked the plot, I liked the characters, and I liked the setting, but it was during the escape from the Nazi base that I gave up. Too many rooms full of guys with shotguns that kill you in three hits unless you're in cover, and two guys across the way with sniper rifles that kill you in one hit, and there's no piece of cover that shields you from both sets of guys - and then when you think you're in the clear, one of those creature things comes out of nowhere and melees you to death in two hits.

My personal one is Star Ocean 3, which is convenient to talk about because it's split into two defined halves: disc 1 and disc 2. To be honest, disc 1 is one of my favorite games of all time. Disc two though really goes downhill. The difficulty curve goes completely up the wall, with some enemies getting a long range, high damage attack which is hard to stop, impossible to block, homes in on you, and makes you stagger for 10 seconds so they can spam it (this is called a dick move, Square). Also, many enemies start attacking MP instead of/ as well as HP, which would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that if a character loses all their MP, they're knocked out, which made all of my tank characters fall like flies. Lastly, the final section is 3 or 4 straight dungeons with enemies that rapidly grow in level, with no places for healing or item restock on the way, unless you treck all the way back to the nearest town. There are about 3 bosses on the way with the two stage final boss at the end, and if you make it to the end with any of your healing items left it's because you managed to run from every single fight. I made half way through the final boss's second stage, but after my 8th attempt I just gave up on it as a lost cause.

Also, the plot of the second disc is just stupid, and what I found out about the ending was anti climactic and not worth what you went through to get to the end.

Neverwinter nights 2 is the definition of this topic. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes and ears when I reached the end for the first time.

metro 2033. at the start of the game the setting is interesting and the survival live by the thread gameplay was good. then they introduce you to the fascists and communists, and then it just turns into a much worse call of duty...

KotOR 2. The whole thing was rather unpolished, but that last planet...just what. What. What, Obsidian.

Bioshock naturally.

The Witcher 2...you can tell the money was starting to run dry by the end. Tho they are supposedly going to make it better when the 360 version is released.

For that matter the Witcher 1 as well but I wouldn't call it great and I never really like the plot of the first game to begin with.

Amnesia
so for the final you face a floating naked old man and all you have to do is push over some pillars? what were they thinking?
Well what did you expect?Your character can't fight or anything also thats not the only ending there are 3 more endings.
I wasn't expecting a fight but I was expecting it to be scary and have a decent puzzle. I know there are other ending.
One where you wait until the portal is open and toss Agrippa's head in or sit and do nothing and let Alexander succeed.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The very last stage turned into a zombie shooting gallery followed by, surprise, another convoluted Boss Fight.

Ooh yes. It's still a mystery to me how anyone could have come up with this kind of plot.

Saints Row 2 As soon as you finish the gangs, you fight Ultor Inc, and the game just goes downhill and gets boring as the least intresting final boss ever arrives. (Dane Vogel)

Condemned 2 has alredy been said, but I'll say it again.
The crime scene investigation was perfect, the melee combat was sharpened to a fine point, and the style had taken a drastic, yet pleasant, turn.
Then the whole cult thing came up, and it all went down a hole. I still hope they make a third game, but I'm not sure where the series is going from here.
Why is it that Monolith can not, for whatever reason, make sequels properly?

I was going to say Assassin's Creed but it looks like OP beat me to it. That doesn't make it any less true though, the rest of the game up to that point was really good (if a bit repetitive).

I think Force Unleashed could have had a better ending too. The boss fights were a bit weak in the game to begin with but from the Star Destroyer on the game kind of feels like it's just phoning it in. Also, after having watched the Wii version, why the fuck couldn't I fight a Basilisk War Droid on the 360/ PS3 version?!

Dues Ex: Human Revolution. It had really strong gameplay all throughout the game...

then the final level rolls around, and your fighting 'enemies' that don't even fight back, a final boss that does 2 parts 'Jack' to one part 'Shit' and a really contrived twist-plot-multi choice ending thing that had zero emotional impact whatsoever, as it just flashed stock footage of war at you without tying up ANYTHING.
I was surprised nobody posted about Deus Ex sooner than you.

The last level just made me really disappointed, all the levels before it had been well-designed and fun, and what do you get in the last level?

Fighting a bunch of 'zombies' in one boring corridor after another.

I was expecting to be taking on elite forces and giant robots in some epic final showdown before the level started.

AC:Revelations was a little iffy for me. Every other Assassins Creed is in "my favorites ever"
categorie but AC:R really kinda rubbed me the wrong way. The ending was laughable.

Not too sure if its been said yet but deus ex, good for most of the game even though it had its odd moments (for example i found the boss fights got easier over time, the final one took only one try) but the ending just felt lazy and rushed.

Everyone's said Assassin's Creed already, but not Assassin's Creed 2?

Seriously, what the fuck was with the carnival section?

Every Bioware game I've played pulls the same crap in the end.

KOTOR: Fantastic buildup on Rakata Prime. Game ends with a forty minute slog through a cut and paste space station.

Mass Effect: Fantastic buildup on Virmire and escape from Citadel. Game ends with a forty minute slog through a cut and paste space station with terrible driving section beforehand.

Mass Effect 2: Terminator bullshit

Dragon Age: Origins: Fantastic buildup at the Landsmeet. Game ends with a forty minute slog through dull environment with no tactics at all, and you can one hit kill enemies, ruining the tactical gameplay.

Dragon Age 2: After the second act highlight of a mediocre game, the third act nosedives into insulting territory.

Each game shares a similar problem: pacing goes out the window. The building tension is what makes them so much fun, but once the endgame hits, the pacing goes way too fast, and everything just becomes sloppy in comparison to the rest of the game.
