Operation Flashpoint had it.

Arma 2, also. I think its actually the same team that made both Arma and OFP.. since the interface for both games are basicallly the same.

Gotta be Battlefield Bad Company 2. You'll find bullet travel time, drop and penetration physics, as well as a choice between the M24, GOL Sniper Magnum, SV98 and one of the .50 cal Barret sniper rifles. There are some semi automatics too, but I don't use them.

EDIT: I should point out that BFBC2's sniping isn't what I'd call realism based, but it feels real enough to be very satisfying and probably the best sniping experience I've enjoyed for some time.

I'm looking for games with accurate sniper mechanics that take into account wind and what not when a shooter shoots :p

Or any game where being a Sniper isn't OP or crappy like MW2

I would prefer to have the choice of Bolt Action Sniper Rifles
Main problem with accurate sniper graphics is resolution and field of view on small screens.

See on consoles (and to lesser extent PC) the resolution and field of view mean you literally cannot see very far at all. What is considered sniping distance in games, about 200 years would be typical infantry rifleman range using iron sights.

You'd need a huge, very high resolution screen viewed from very close to begin to snipe at real life effective sniper range of 1/4 of a mile and more. At that range the effects of wind, bullet drop, and even tie to target are extraordinary.

At sniping distances actually seen in games... it effectively IS a hitscan weapon, the bullet reaches the point of impact within such a small fraction of a second it's almost instantaneous, also with drop measured within fraction of an inch. Also most sniper rifles have 1 to 0.5 MOA that means even at 200 yards the point of impact will only deviate as much as 1 inch from poitn of aim.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior.

I admit I haven't played it myself, but from what I have seen it is realistic enough.
This.

I haven't played it myself but i've checked gameplay video's and it incorporates wind and a whole load of other things to make it realistic.

You could find mods for some games with snipers in them.

Sniper Elite employs about the most accurate shooting mechanics you'll find. Wind, bullet drop, weather, the lot.

In other games not so much. Battlefield 2/2142 both employ bullet drop and armour penetration. For example the M99 can penetrate armoured windscreens, whilst the L96 cannot.

STALKER games also employ bullet drop, for all weapons, which is important when a lot of the silenced rifles fire subsonic rounds. It also has ammunition types, which have a noticable effect on stopping power.

Other than that most shooters aren't very exacting when it comes to sniping.

In my experience, Bad Company 2 isn't what you'd call a simulation, but the sniping mechanics take travel time and bullet drop into account, which is leaps and bounds better than the laser rifles found in MW2 and the like.

Plus, as the sniper class ("Recon") it gives you the ability to call in mortar fire and is focused on actual reconnaissance (this is game where knowing the enemy's location is critical to success, unless they're unusually bad), so you'll be playing a much more important role than "that camping ****** that shot me from ten times the distance that my bullets disappear eight times in a row". To me, it's astounding that they managed to make the sniper a balanced class.

You'll also be pleased to know that there are actually more bolt-action rifles than semi-automatics (4 vs 3), with the semi-autos being less effective for actual sniping than they are for attaching a reflex sight so you don't have to switch to your pistol to hold your own at close range. The best part is (to me), every gun in the game makes realistic sounds versus the cute popping you hear in other shooters, so firing an unsilenced sniper rifle gives you a wicked, resonating CRACK that'll give you the chills.
This, the BC2 Multiplayer is great for Sniping, As long as you still contribute to the team.

Sniper Elite is incredibly realistic. It's nearly unplayable for the casual gamer due to how complicatedly realistic it is.

It's so realistic, after you play it, real sniping won't feel real man.
