Games With No Multiplayer Trophies/Achievements: Yay or Nay?

When I checked my Modern Warfare 2, a game I have a love/hate relationship with, trophy progress I was surprised to learn to there are no trophies for multiplayer. I really like that because it means multiplayer has no obligation to be played for other than fun.

Is this something in gaming that should be reflected with future releases by other developers or do you think that multiplayer needs a reward system for those that want it? I personally like not having to go after absurd trophies such as hosting a ranked dedicated server for 4 hours like in Warhawk.

BTW, I realize CoD4 had no multiplayer achievements for the 360.

*Yay = No to multiplayer achievements/trophies.
*Nay = Yes to multiplayer achievements/trophies.

Yay. Much yay.
For someone who rarely plays multiplayer, and can be a bit OCD with some things, it's nice to see I can get that 1000G if I try.

I don't like multiplayer achievements due to the fact there will always be a few people playing with you that going to just go for the achievement/trophy rather than help his/her team win. Also, if you're like me and almost never get to play live/have live there's a whole bunch of achievements/trophies that you're going to miss out on and quite likely will never get.

Dislike multiplayer achievements, since I usually try to get 100% completion on the games I play but am not interested by most games' online offerings. If it's just something like "play your first online match" or "win your first online match", it's fine. If it's like what Bioshock 2 has, it is not fine.

I think you should be able to get 1000G without multiplayer. But I think there should be multiplayer achievements.

I want at least something to collect while playing multiplayer.
At least with Call of Duty you can get new weapons and perks and with MW2 titles, accolades and emblems on top of that.

Nay, no more need be said, unless you so demand so.
i demand that more be said by you

OT: i think they are fine if they are just like "play your first (game mode here) online matcch"

if they require you to win it 100 times, thats different

so i guess they are ok when done right

I'm conflicted...
On the one hand, it makes multiplayer seem like I'm not wasting my time.
On the other, my connection usually sucks and most games are too obscure to find a game.

Yay, seriously while I'm not a gamerscore whore.. nothing bugs me more then having every achievement but the one that requires me forking over fourty dollars a year to get Online play.

Definite yay! What about all the gamers who can't afford to pay for XBL (etc)? They should be able to get their 1000Gs too! Plus some of the multiplayer achievements can lack...imagination. "play 10 games in this mode", "play 1,000 games in this mode"...seriously, check out the achievement list for Perfect Dark Zero which does a very similar thing ad nauseum.

Multiplayer achievements are a little annoying. Multiplayer should be reserved for fun as basically stated above.

I think that (just as an example off the top of my head) Uncharted 2 has a total of 2 multiplayer trophies. They're both just playing a full game of each mode.

I very much like this since I try for the easy Trophies/Achievements. They also help introduce players to the multiplayer components of a game.

So, I guess it's a double-edged sword really.

EDIT: I didn't even take into account the "I have no multiplayer/online" option

Definite Yay!

Chasing after achievements is silly in the first place, but multiplayer achievements tie your arbitrary gamerscore going up to the behavior of strangers. It's pretty easy to see why that's not something you should really encourage.
