Female animals for breeding don't count, because they don't retain anything and any two animals can breed.

I think all creatures count as agender. The are pretty much like trees and plants in how they breed. Even the player character can have skin of male or female in the game itself, or whatever else customized for them.

Don't know. Most old games have at least one female NPC knocking about.

Well, the old DooM games come to mind. You know, the originals from the 90s.

The Archville might be female. It's voice when you kill it is a little girl's asking "WHY?!" reversed. So I do not think that one counts. :3

OT: I think Armymen for the N64 is devoid of any female characters though I might be wrong on that one.

Gothic had no female char i think.

There were a few at the old camp, slaves (if you pay attention to the lore they were literally shipped into the camp as *payment*, as there were no women inside when the barrier went up as it was a prison mining camp until the prisoners overthrew the guards). One of them, named Velaya, was actually censored for the US release because she was topless in the German original.
