Has this ever happened to you? To play a game that you enjoy , but just stop playing even though there is an abundance of contente , but just too much for you to go through. What games has done this to you? And how do you feel about games that have too much content for you to be able to get through?

This thread was inspire by the game disgaea. A game i truely love , because of how fun it is and the halarious story and characters . But there is just WAY too much for me to do in this game. The fact that the game lvl cap is 9999 doesn't help it's cause . Although i know it is possible to reach that level and the game still wouldn't be easy ,and people have done it before , but for me it's just too much. Add all the grinding needed to get there and i just can't do it. Disgaea is for me the game that gives me way too much to do, and knowing i could never see it all in a reasonable amount of time makes me a bit sad. All the hard work from developpers that i will never be able to see. But i love the game never the less.

So what about you, what games do you love but has way too much content?

Just waiting for that flood of Just Cause 2 posts.
Myself, any content is good really, I ususally go back to my old games every few years, and finish up stuff that I missed out on the first [sub][sub](or second, or third, or WHATEVER)[/sub][/sub] time.

Sounds a bit ridiculous but Rockband 3. Too many goals to go for. I couldn't even begin to get into it. Also the faff in AssCreed2/Brotherhood. Too many little pokey missions, things to buy etc.

Oblivion, I know, I've locked the door and I'm hiding under the bed so the fans can't get me!!

I enjoyed the game enough (always ended up playing the Dark Brotherhood and the thieves guild) but there was just too much to do.

Here begins the flood!!!

Yeah, for me Just Cause 2. It had loads of content, shame it was all the same.

Insert interchangeable sandbox/GTA/JustCause2/ElderScrolls/ArkhamAsylum/Assassin'sCreed/Bioware game here.

There, I just ended this thread.

Daggerfall.

You think Oblivion and Morrowing had an abundance of content? HA! Man, you ain't seen shit yet.

Every single town and city on the entire continent of Tamriel. Each one with its own quests, characters, stories, ect. My memory must be failing. I was thinking of Arena, where you had to travel to each province's capital city and could traverse the continent. Silly me.

Skyrim's bragging about it's 300 hours of content, I wouldn't be surprised if Daggerfall clocked up to 3000 hours.

I would say Battlefield 3. There is too much content, and the developers decided to add a fuck ton of levels with most not really giving you anything useful for the massive time it takes to level up in that game.

For me, any single player game that lasts longer than 50 hours is pushing it.

As for specific examples, Dragon Age: Origins had way too much extraneous side bullshit. Also, Fallout 3 outstayed it's welcome by a considerable degree.

This happened to me with Fallout 3: GotY Edition. There was so much content and navigating in the game felt so cumbersome and technical that it turned me away immediately.

Daggerfall has never been completed and never will be. I'm pretty sure that no one alive has seen all of its content.

If someone claims they have, I'd fight it. 62K square miles. wow. How CAN you explore that?

I've never been overwhelmed with the amount of content, because I play my games for keeps, and the longer I can find new things the better.

One game I thought had too much content for it's own good though was Star Wars: Shadows of the empire. They tried putting in space dogfighting and snowspeeder flying, 1st and third person laser combat, turret shooting, jetpack flying, train jumping and speeder bike racing. In the end the snowspeeder bit was the only part they really nailed, and even that was rendered totally redundant by the dedicated star wars flying game Rogue Squadron that came along later.

Arkham City. You've got the main story, the Riddler stuff (there's a lot of that alone...), Zsasz, Hush, Azrael, street crime, AR training, Catwoman, Robin, NG+...

Actually Daggerfall only covered south western Highrock and northern Hammerfell (and technically Orsinium) if memory serves. Still a truly obscene amount of stuff to do though. I always have to hold back a chuckle when I see a post praising Oblivion for it's 'sheer scale'.

So yeah. As far as games with massive amounts of content, OP, you ain't gonna beat Daggerfall.

Almost every RPG I've ever played. I don't know, maybe I'm just an unrefined scrub with an attention span that can only be measured in nanoseconds, but I've dropped many a good game before finishing it because it'd just... lost its momentum, I guess. The most recent examples (in my case) would be Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect and Fallout: New Vegas; great games, but each is like trying to eat a dozen pot roasts in one long, drawn-out sitting, and I'm just not down with that.

I don?t get the too much content argument...not for a good game, one that you enjoy. I understand you may need a break or there?s some content you?d like to skip (which is a good percentage in games that have that much content usually) so you do. It?s no big deal, skip what you want to skip and/or play another game for a bit.
I love it when a really good game has ?too much? content. It gives me something to play for a long long time. San Andreas & Fallout 3 each took me about a year to play though but they weren?t the only games I played those years. They just gave me a lot of entertainment, so I spread it out.
I don?t see how you can argue against value like that with games costing $60 each. At those prices, every game should have ?too much? content.
