I am pretty sure that was the whole point of the Sisters of Battle in a nutshell.

An Army of Joan of Arcs.

They even gave the Sisters the fleur-de-lys as their symbol. Jeanne d'Arc notably had two of those in her coat of arms (although it is also a general design and motif for many French Catholic saints).

Uh, it's the imperium's M.O. in general to do nothing but suck on a grand scale. I mean, they'll win battles, maybe a war here or there, but "make situations worse for all involved, have the other guy blink first" is basically the Guard's battle strategy.

Then again, "It gets worse" is pretty much the entire point of the setting. 40K isn't the trope namer and posterboy for grimdark for nothing.

I mean, its an army who runs with the battleplan of "okay, but what if we set it all on fire?".

Of course everything gets generally worse. Its on fire.
