Just as the title says, what are some games you've beaten the first time through without dying/failing once? Especially games that are typically considering challenging or you surprised yourself with. Extra points go to those who didn't use any kind of a guide. Obviously this only includes games that have some kind of failure mechanic (falling down a hole, messing up a puzzle, etc.)

Recently I beat Outland without actually dying once (which is an awesome game and you should totally play it). It wasn't a particularly hard game, but I was still surprised for managing to do it. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'd just SS'ed all the levels in Dust Force, which has somewhat similar mechanics (*shiver* backup shift/hideout).

Well I swept through Project Diva 2 without getting a MissXTake rating. Until I tried Extreme and ran into THAT song, which for reasons I cannot recall, I picked as my first foray into Extreme...

I don't know what that game is, but as someone who plays DDR, 1:25 and onwards terrifies me a bit on an instinctual level.

Fable 3 is the only example that springs to mind. It was insultingly easy mind, so it's not really much of an accomplishment.

I didn't die in Okami until a pretty substantial way into it. (but I can't tell how long the story is going to be. Probably a long one considering you beat the final boss about 3 hours into the game) Though I think there were some sort of revival items in the shop that helped out a bit. I need to get my PS2 back now, I have to finish Okami and restart Persona 4 as quickly as possible.

I am also very impressed if I make it through a game of LoL without dying. Though if i'm like 5/0 i'm blaming the other team for not recognising the snowball and 5 man ganking the fuck out of me.

Perhaps if I was playing Fiora I could turn that into a few kills if my ult was up though... Fiora is just awesome. It's like not chasing Singed. Don't tower dive Fiora.

I've gotten perfect games in LoL on the rare occasion which is not precisly easy. Besides that, I've beaten Rock band 2 without ever failing a song on Hard. But I had a lot of experience from other games I guess and it was with the guitar, so it was faceroll. Drums was a different story though. Several days ago I beat Starfox 64 on the 3DS without dying. But it was the easy/moderate route, not the hard one. Got my arse handed to me on the hard route afterwards;<

Yeah, no.
I don't think there exists a game (that isn't poorly designed) where a player can go the whole way through without experiencing failure that results in death.

To be honest I haven't died in any Assassin's Creed. Haven't played revelation. Had some trouble in the first one, but I always preferred fleeing in that game. Second and Brotherhood were really easy. Fun though, but easy. (didn't really do all the 100% synchronization)

I think I made it through Ammnessia in one life on my first go.
My first goes at Civ V on the easier difficuties were pretty much landslides.
Prince of Persia Remake since you can't die.
Fable 3 would count but I didn't play that shit to the end.

I made it through the original Fable without dying.

Didn't even need to use a health potion until the end boss.

Kingdoms of Amular was headed the same way too. (I could literally win fights with my eyes closed. Seriously. I tried several times.) But I got bored out of my mind and ditched it long before reaching the end.

Prptotype 2 because Heller was overpowered, so every enemy was too easy to kill, even in hard difficulty.
And Heavy Rain, because it was reaaly easy.

I don't think there's any game I've ever beaten on the first playthrough without dying. Mostly because any games that retardedly easy get thrown aside long before I see the credits.

Really? I'd disagree. There are plenty of good games that some people just don't need to die in order to beat. I'd argue that a good game design would make this totally possible, as it would mean the game didn't have any really cheap deaths in it. I mean, when in Super Mario World was it inevitable that you die?

I'm not saying death is inevitable, only that on a first playthrough, it is highly probable because every new area is unfamiliar, so you have yet to develop the proper strategy to get through it.
Just for the record, I haven't played any Mario games, so I can't speak for their design.

I've gotten so good at playing RE4 that I can blast through the whole thing on Proffesional without dying. But that doesn't count because the first time I played that game my deaths were somewhere around the 60s. (And I know that because the game tells you how many times you died at the end of the game.)

Other than that I guess Pokemon Fire Red could count, if beating the Elite Four counts as beating the game. Plus I don't know if that counts either because it's a remake and I already knew what I was doing since I played the original so much as a wee lad.
