I've never heard someone outright say " I HATE L4D! " everyone I know who's played it thinks its fun in some way.

Same for Skyrim. Damn I'm gonna go play some more Skyrim...
I will say that Skyrim just didn't do it for me. Mainly because the Shivering isles from Oblivion are the funnest part of an Elder Scrolls game I've played so far, and they have probably spoiled my elder scrolls experience from then on.

As for the thread, I agree with the others who have said bastion. Amazing story telling, amazing music, fun combat, and leveling up to boot! Bastion is probably the only game that I automatically played twice to get both story endings. The only criticism I would have for bastion is no save point before the last mission of the game, you got to play it all over again to choose different options at the end.

Planescape: Torment. The only criticism one could make is "The graphics are bad" or "the combat sucks". But anyone who says that deserves to be punched in the soul.

Well, you obviously haven't been on this forum [http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/34-fallout-series-discussion/] before. Seriously, the amount of "true" Fallout players hate any Elder Scrolls game.

OT: I don't think any game goes without some hatred.

Portal.
Everyone either loves portal or hasn't played it yet.
And then, portal 2 happened and did the unthinkable: being a worthy successor.

I'm going to go with the masses and say Portal.
BUT I'm not going to leave without flaunting Bastion praise, I can't see how anyone could "hate" it. But my friend doesn't find too much appeal in it.

How about me? I can't stand L4D. I think I've enjoyed a total of 3 of the matches of it I've played. Maybe. 3 might be a bit generous.

Motherfucking Lylat Wars. With the exception of graphics it pretty much satisfies every one of my gaming needs.

It's got cheesy voice overs, an amazing fucking soundtrack, an innovative level structure and a smart way of handling difficulty amongst other things.

EDIT And it has that great "simple to understand, hard to master" gameplay. If you disagree I will tell you to get the medal on Sector Z, I fucking dare you.

I agree with you on the easy to learn hard to master thing except for one critiscism: i Did your challenge years ago. when i was 15. Very fun game one of the best ever. got every medal on every planet on both difficulties. getting the medal on TITANIA on the hard difficult is a ***** to do though or beating the hard run through when going to Bolse...thats another ***** to do.

OT: Well an obviosu one would be ocarina of time...but I hated that game...then there is Half life 2....but i hated that as well. so...i guess im in agreement about starfox 64 on this one.

I saw someone mention Banjo Kazooie. Good man.

Nobody has mentioned Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask yet so I'll throw that in just cause.
edit: before writing this

I'll also nominate Conker's Bad Fur Day. Because it has nazi teddy bears. And zombie squirrels.
It also has the shittiest level you've ever played in a game and ever will play ;)

Impossibru even my most favourite games have at least one flaw, even if it's just that they're to damn short.

No, it has 0 replay value. But it isn't really long either and yeah, alot of the tests are pretty straight-forward. Not as bad as single player where Valve clutches your hand and never let's go, but no, it doesn't actually have a rewarding difficulty either. Not to mention that it will only be frustrating if your Co-Op partner turns out to be a moron.
I suppose I'm a moron, then. Me and tons of other people who felt a sense of accomplishment from Portal 2's puzzle structure.

For what it's worth, Vice City didn't challenge me in the least, and the very limited amount of different cars broke my suspension of disbelieve constantly (There are other things that did that, too, but that's the most glaring one.)
