Ahhh, the joys of having a Commodore 64 instead of a console. We could buy games at the local corner shop with our pocket money for 2-4 quid. Bought Ghostbusters, Bombjack, Turrican, etc. When we eventually sold it we had over a hundred games.

Actually we would have bought some games anyway because our relatives usually gave us money instead of buying us birthday/Christmas presents. But getting them cheap was nice. When we got an Amiga we didn't buy that many games with our pocket money.

With my first paycheck from working as a stockboy at the local WinnDixie, I bought a PSX and a copy of FFVII. (One of the best 'on a whim' purchases I've ever made... Played that sucker WAY past 99:99 while I farmed Materia and bred chocobos.)

The second was Riven, purchased from Babbages on the same day I returned the rental to Blockbuster. The next day, I exchanged it straight up for RE2, after completing the game in a few hours... (If I'd known I was already 9/10's of the way through the game, I probably would have just paid for a late charge, but then not had months of fun playing RE2.)

Previously, all of my NES games were from the odd birthday or christmas gift.

I didn't have any money of my own as a kid, so I never bought any games. Either way, they're really expensive in Sweden, so I don't think I would've been able to afford them, either way.

Crash 2, Micro Machines v3, and Spyro 1 were the first games I got. I played them to death. Literally in the case of Micro Machines, the disc was held cracked before I stopped playing them.

I think the first game I really saved up for was Street Fighter 2 on the SNES and I remember being really pissed off as a kid as I couldn't work out the controls and kept getting my ass kicked.

I think the first game I actually bought with my own money was Mirrors Edge. My mom bought all of my games before that, so... >.>

First game I bought with my own money was Pokemon Yellow, I believe. That or Pokemon Gold. Since then, unless it's a special occasion, I have to buy all my own games.

First game I bought was Dungeon Keeper 1, and it came in a box with Theme Hospital. The first real game I ever played I got as a gift though, that was ye olde Theme Park [http://www.pcgamespecial.nl/ndimages/screenshots/Theme%20Park/006.jpg]. First ever 'hands on' with something that could potentially be called a game was when I played some kind of sports game that came on a 12 inch floppy - I have no idea what that was called, though.
