Sitting around today and wondering if I should buy the Team ICO collection, it occured to me that, as I've never played the originals and only watched soembody else playing SotC one time, it would share the fate of some other games I have, due to not having any nostalgia bonus for me.

The fate would be being bought but never played. A fate, which does mostly affect downloadable games, to be honest. So here's my list of those games:

Dragon Age 2 (PS3)
Dead Space 2 (PC)
Bully (PC)
Tomb Raider Anniversary and Underground (PS3, only played Legends form the compilation)
All of the PS3 Play offer games: The Baconing, Renegade Ops, SF3 3rd Strike online and Bloodrayne.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (PS3)
the Fear Expansions and Fear 2 (PC)
The whole Men of War series (PC)

And there are more I can't think of at the moment.
So, what are the games you never played (save one short stint to try them, out), but never got to return/refund or resell them?

There's a couple of games that were really cheap on Steam so I bought them as fall-back games even though I wasn't terribly interested in them:

- Just Cause 2
- Deathspank
- The most recent Humble Indie Bundle (I basically bought that to show my support to charity and to the developers. I'm not really interested in any of the games.)

Also, I think I could technically add Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic but that's just because I bought it last night and finished loading it this morning before I got to work. I know for a fact that I'll play that game today.

Certain of the Avernum games, I bought the full versions, but not played them...and now my laptop won't run them. Must try a new dosbox or something.

Thanks to Steam + Sales + I'm A Compulsive Shopper, I actually own more games that I haven't played than have. Pah!

Notable (read: games over $2) products I have purchased but have yet to play on Steam include:
  • Ghostbusters: The Game Of The Movie (Probably?)
    Judge Dredd Vs. Judge Death
BioShock 2 (I will get round to this when I get through BioShock)
    Grand Theft Auto IV
    Killing Floor
    MDK 2
    Resident Evil 5
    Tales of Monkey Island 1-5

I've also purchased, but are yet to play, Sleep is Death on PC, Super Mario Galaxy on Wii, and a bunch of PS2 games I got for dirt cheap at some charity shop.

What the hell?

How can you people afford to buy games you don't even play?

*looks at his own Steam list, filled with unplayed games bought at bargain prices*

...oh.

Oddly I am amassing a fairly extensive backlog atm. And this is just from this generation.

To give a few examples.

Known PC:
X2/X3, Clive barkers Jericho, Dark Messiah MM4, Might and magic 5, Revenge of the titans, And yet it moves, Dwarfs!?, Zenbound 2, Alpha protocol, Counterstrike, Garshasp, All three Kings Bounty titles. Section 8, Warhammer 40k- DoW2, Duke Nukem Forever, NeverWinter nights 2, All three Mount and Blade.

Known PS3: (much smaller library)

Known 360:
UFC trainer, Dantes Inferno, Child of Eden, Ninja Gaiden 2, Rock band: Beatles, Kameo, Lego Batman, Burnout: Paradise

Viking, Heavy Rain, Mortal Kombat 9, Little big planet, Infamous.

So... Roughly 35 tiles best as I can calculate, though the figure is likely even higher cause I know I am missing a few. Also, that doesnt even begin to count the games I own that Ive yet to make a serious playthrough. I am not ashamed to admit that I do buy used games when I find good deals on them, so I have many games that I "played" just long enough to validate that the disc was readable and able to get to gameplay.

So yes, when the Apocalypse comes... at least I will have something to keep me occupied for the first couple years or so.

For either my birthday or Christmas one year(can't remember which), my dad got me some Tomb Raider game for the Wii. I tried it for about ten minutes before putting it back on the shelf, never to be played again.

Dead space: Hated the controls, got bored and haven?t been bothered to get back to it. Can't return it because it?s a PC game and trading it is a pain in the ass. Might give it another go if I run out of games or somthing.
Overlord 2: I didn?t enjoy the first one that much and they came in a pack. Can't trade because it's steam.
Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds: Survivor. Might play it eventually but I?m not really that interested. I have them because they came with Trine.

Alpha Protocol and Penumbra: Requiem don't really count because I didn't buy them that long ago and do actually intend to play them unless they turn out to be crap.

I have a ton of PC games on my Steam list I've never played, either because they were part of a bundle (that I bought for a few specific games) or because they were cheap.

I've never bought a console game and not played it the day I got it. To me, a game isn't worth buying if I don't feel like playing it right away.

That said, Steam bundle sales have led to a lot of games within the particular bundle that I have no intention on spending precious monthly download limits installing. I'm still gradually downloading games I actually want to play from the big summer sale 3 months back thanks to my monthly limit.

Right now just Alpha Protocol an EyE, bought alpha protocol for 2 bucks a few days ago, haven't played it. And the Jimquisition made me curious about EyE, haven't started it though.

Also Fable 3, I bought Fable 3 and haven't really played it at all.

EDIT: Also Recettear, god damn what's my problem

All on PC so they can't be returned/traded.
ARMA II, I like Rainbow Six:Raven Shield but this is too deep a mil-sim for me.
Assassins Creed, played the tutorial level, gah, dull dull dull.
Assassins Creed 2, it didn't improve.
Borderlands, FPS Diablo, not for me, I never liked Diablo.
Bully, shitty port.
Dead Space, horrible port, dull gameplay.
F1 2010, cheating AI ruins the game, will 2011 be any different?
Left 4 Dead 2, meh, zombie game bought because a friend raved about it, no appeal.
Red Faction: Guerrilla, I hit the open world and lost interest.
Saints Row 2, terminally broken piece of shit console port. The only Steam game I have uninstalled.
Terraria, not a big fan of 2d platformers or Diablo.
