This mostly happens to me when it comes to Virtual Console games. Out of the several dozen games I've downloaded, WiiWare AND Virtual Console, I've only truly liked several of them. Among those games I actually liked are Punch-Out, Mega Man 9, Mario 3, and others.

What are some games that that you've bought for certain reasons that you didn't like?

Golden Axe 3, was way more fun back in the old days when I used to want to be a T-rex when I grew up (still kind of do actually).

I was amazed by just how much my gaming tastes have changed since I played through Chrono Trigger the first time---on the DS I just couldn't connect with it because my tastes have evolved past JRPGs.

Crysis. Looked awesome, was kinda fun but I ended up spending more time pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del after it crashed than actually playing. A perfect testimonial to the fact EA never gets anything right. They'll rush the developer and it'll either suck or have more bugs than a termite nest.

Street Fighter IV. Yes, i know people keep on saying its amazing but i found the controls awkward, and i couldn't pull off any of the combo's and such.

Final Fantasy III. I thought it would be excellent, but it was slow, didn't make sense, and just confused me. Meanwhile, I loved IV.

Me too at the start but it's a game that really rewards practice if you have time to put in, if not just get drunk and button mash with your buddies and its just as fun :)

I gotta say I thought rainbow Six Vegas 2 was rather dull and boring with godawful last gen graphics and as I begrudgingly trudged through to the end I often wondered why I didn't just stop and go back COD4.

GTA IV - realism isn't always the best route.

Bioshock - Its good the first playthrough, but it just doesn't have any replay value to me.

Street Fighter IV - I literally played this game with my eyes closed and beat my brother, who actually tried. I really don't see what makes this fighter stand out.

Call of Duty 4 - thats right, I said it. Sure, it went from WW2 to modern times, but why is that such a big deal?

I bought Metroid Prime 3 but I found the game a little to non-linear and hard for my first FPS game.

Metroid is less FPS and more shooter-based puzzle game. The combat is also piss-weak.

Well, I bought the original Star Fox for the SNES. With its four polygon characters, you know? Ah, those were the days.

But seriously, that game gave me a headache if I played it for more than half an hour. Frame rate was really choppy.

Guess that why I didn't like it so much.

Edit: bah I'm no good at using this whole forum device, I can't even quote for goods sake.
