I bought KOTOR when it came out, but when I couldn't find it after I moved I bought the X-Box version of the game. Then I sold my X-Box and purchased the game on steam. Then I found my original PC copy (it was hidden under my copy of The Sims) and my roommate bought a 360. So in the end, I still didn't waste any money because the game's freaking awesome.

-Resident Evil 4 (I think this counts, I borrowed it from a friend, beat it completely, gave it back, then bought it for myself a couple months later)
-Persona 3 (I bought Portable, then bought FES because Portable doesn't have The Answer)
-God of War 3 (Sold it, regretted it, bought it again)
-New Vegas (Bought it, GotY came out for less than the price of all the DLC individually, traded vanilla in for GotY)

I own most BioWare games multiple times, either because CD -> DVD, Digital Distribution or XBox -> PC (only ME3 which I won't buy as long as it keeps its Origin requirement). I've bought multiple copies of MMOs before, usually for some extra in-game stuffs, or for a CE. I think I have 3 BioShocks or so, 2 Morrowinds and Oblivions, 2-3 NWN2s, a few Hitman: Blood Monies.

Then there are those I'd like to buy more than once because I love the the developer (CD Projecct) but Steam doesn't let you :-(

Well I have purchased every single Metal Gear game that has come out minus Rising. That means all the subsistence versions, the ps2 collection, ps3 HD collection, etc.

Other then that though the only one was the Prince of Persia HD collection because I bought it and ended up lending it to a friend right away. A few months down the road I had forgotten and purchased it again only to have my friend return the copy he borrowed about a week later. Luckily they were only $10 a piece.

Oh yea and I bought fallout 3 as well as the collectors edition. I originally just bought the regular one and a year or so down the road saw the collectors for a reasonable price and picked it up because I wanted the bobble head.

While I dont use steam for reasons I wont mention I thought that you could buy games as gifts as well.

Buy them on GOG. The GOG versions are completely DRM free, they aren't Steam codes or anything like that.

I kinda wish I'd waited until The Witcher 2 hit a GOG sale before replacing my physical copy. Or better yet, realized you could register your physical copy on GOG and get a free digital version before I lost it...

Kingdom Hearts 1+2 and Chain of Memories. I actually just recently bought them.
Tales of Symphonia.
Shadow of the Collosus.
Baten Kaitos
Chibi-robo
Super Smash Bros Melee
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
Viewtiful Joe

I recently got a hold of a Gamecube and a PS2, so have been rebuying some of my favorite games.

Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas. All were originally on console, but I rebought them when I got an adequate PC. For ze mods :D

I also rebought Kingdom Hearts, a few years after I traded it in and got a real hankering to play it again.

Would you count HD releases? If so, then Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, MGS 1+2, Devil May Cry 1+3.
And you just reminded me that I need to but a copy of Devil May Cry 3. How's 1 and 2?

The only games i've ever repurchased are:

- Sims 2 base game (because some of the 4 disks stopped working at one point)

- Destruction derby 1 on the PS network, i bought the original on the ps1 and then i also bought it on PSN.

-Technically company of heroes twice, i got the original entire collection on physical disks but then i also got the steam version in an indie bundle.

-I got Theme park world twice.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Destroy All Humans!, and Grand Theft Auto: San Adreas. I originally had all of them for the old XBox, but that XBox and all the games I had for it were misplaced when I moved. So I bough the HD remake of Stranger's Wrath on PS3 when that was released, and I managed to snag the other two along with a used PS2, so now it's like they never left me.

Borderlands (360 and GOTY edition for PS3), Driver Parralel Lines (PC and Limited Edition for PS2) and Driver (2x PS1 and PC once). The reason for purchasing it more then once come with diffirent reasons, for Driver it is because I lost both a PS1 copy and a PC copy.

I've bought Ocarina of time for the N64 and again on the 3DS. I thought it was worth it because it's a game I love and the newer one had updated graphics and 3D.

-Skyrim and Oblivion once on PS3 and 360 (respectively) and once on PC (for mods)
-Fable II (The disk was ruined in my broken 360)
-Smash Bros. Brawl (I thought the disc was the problem, but it was the Wii)
-The Sims 2 (I gave the other copy to my stepsister)
-Ocarina of Time on N64, GC and 3DS

I have two copies of Psychonauts, Limbo, and Bastion cause I got them all for Xbox (360) and then ended up picking them up again in Humble Bundles. Other than that, the only game I think I ever re-bought was Kingdom Hearts after I lost the disc and wanted to replay it.

I bought several games on steam that I had on disk just for the convenience. I know I rebought Hitman Blood Money, FEAR1, FEAR Extraction Point, Fear Perseus Mandate, and the original KoTOR. Its funny, I have beaten Kotor probably 5 times when I had it on disk so it has never been played on my steam account, I'll rectify that soon.

Also when I first got into PC gaming I bought some PC gaming rigs from a company that hosted lan parties that went out of business so I think I have 4 copies of Half-Life, 3 copies of Warcraft 3/Frozen throne, 2 copies of Blueshift/Opposing Force 3 copies of CS 1.5, 3 copies of Battlefield 1942/Secret Weapons, and 3 copies of Battlefield Vietnam.

Also, I lost my little carrying case thing for my DS once and rebought Advance Wars: Dual Strike, and then later found my carrying case so I have 2 copies of that game.

-KotOR - Scratched the disk on the first one
-Crackdown - Same as above
-KotOR 2 - Got it for PC to play with mods
-CoD Black Ops - Not really sure how, but I ended up with two copies of game and only beat the story mode once
-Rome: Total War - Wanted to relive some nostalgia as a kid on my new PC and there was a sale for it only being $1.

Gta2 and Red Alert for PS1, i traded them in for other games, then i regretted my decision and bought them back. Nothing this gen though, since you can't really trade or sell PC games.. Perhaps vice city also counts, i bough it for my android phone recently.

Only the Devil May Cry series really, thats all I've bought twice.

But, I have bought Final Fantasy VII 3 times over the years. Once on PS1 when it came out, again when my mate "forgot to give me it back" when he moved away, and again on PS3 as a download.

I've gotten Ocarina of Time way too many times, I've owned it on N64, Gamecube, Wii and 3DS and I've still never managed to finish it and probably never will

Homeworld, twice.
Age of Empires (all the games in the series) at least twice; plus a couple jewel cases.
Oblivion, twice (thrice? Not sure)

And, of course, I keep digging up Steam sales on things I don't yet have on Steam, and the convenience is often enough to tempt a purchase.

Every game I ever had for the PS1/2. I was young and the only way to get money to play video games was to sell the old ones. Now I'm rebuilding my collection, it's a fun hobby. Also I bought Bioshock on PC and then later on PS3. I wanted the trophies and the better graphics (my GPU sucks).

so, the xbox in my house is not mine, and the guy who owns it is moving out soon so i'm making the conversion to PC gaming, which means re-purchasing games i consider to be essential.

which basically just includes all Bioware and Bethesda games (the RPGs at least)

what games have you bought twice
Can't say anything on Bioware titles, just reading it made me sneeze and actually writing it gave me pimples. Depending on how much money you're willing to spend, your Bethesda experience will improve, blowing your mind in the process. There will still be glitches and crashes, but they're administered in homeopathic dosages compared to the console versions.

Disclaimer: If you're not willing to spend a decent amount of money and if you're not willing to research a bit before actually getting yo PC, I strongly suggest just getting another console. Much less hassle, proper OOB experience, no fighting/dealing with DRM and malware. No training your anti-malware to not mess with your games. If none of that sounds like a problem to you, happy gaming, welcome to PC wonderland. I dub thee Sir Isaac Maximillion XCV.

OT:

2 x Dark Souls
3 x Dark Souls
3 x Warcraft III
2 x Starcraft 2
2 x Turrican
X x Any Neo Geo carts available

hmmm... there's more. My brain can't be bothered right now, though.
