Oblivion twice, Skyrim three times, and Left 4 Dead 2 and several other games twice because of steam sales and the famous "I might play them sometime" thought.

I bought Dragon Age: Origins twice.

The reason why? It was cheaper to buy Origins and Awakening together for my Mac (about £25) than it was to buy Awakening on its own through the PSN (about £33... yeah, thanks Sony). If EA/Bioware had been allowed/chosen to release Awakening on disc (oh yeah, and thanks to SOEE for that stupid policy), it would have retailed for about £20, so the way I saw it, I was basically getting an extra copy of Origins for a fiver.

That being said, if EA ever release the Mss Effect Trilogy on the Mac, I'd be okay with buying it again. Plus, I've pretty much already decided to pick up XCOM: Enemy Unknown again once the Mac port appears...

Dark Souls on XBOX and PC I have got 3 copies of Fallout 3 now -.- mostly because I got a back up copy on Steam and also a friend gave me it free amongst some other games when I bought his pS3.

I have a gamecube and 3DS copy of Ocarina of Time. I also have 2 copies of Alan Wake because it was super cheap with DLC on Steam. I think I've actually owned about 3 copies of Baldur's Gate...

Resident Evil 4. Bought it for PS2 release day. Bought the collectors edition (Fully intact)Gamecube version from a friend (Don't even own a Gamecube). Bought the Wii version for a friend. Bought the PS3 HD release, and THEN gave my flawless copy of the PS2 version (seriously I damn near kept it in a safe) to my (now) ex's sister for her birthday just so that I could re-buy it again............I LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 4 IF YOU HAVEN'T GUESSED YET.
You should play the most recent Tomb Raider I don't know why but that game reminds me so much of Resi 4.

I bought Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition three times. I bought it for PC twice, the Steam version, and a hard copy, and I have the game for my 360 as well.

I plan on buying Skullgirls again once it comes out on Steam. I already have the game on my 360. I would be playing it a lot more now if Microsoft would let Lab Zero Games finally patch the game.

Resident Evil 2 - N64 and Gamecube
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - SNES and GBA
Doom 3 - Technically. I didn't get a 2nd copy. Bought it when I got my Laptop in 2006, Bought the ID super pack or whatever in 2010 for $30 on Steam. Since I already owned Doom 3, I didn't get a copy to gift.
Mario 1, 2, and 3 - Again, Technically. Super Mario All-Stars.

Mass Effect and BioShock.

Those were the first two games I bought when I got my X360, simply because they were well received AAA shooters, and I needed something to play until the release of Halo 3 (My sole reason for buying a 360..). While I liked them, I didn't really get the full value of the those games until a few years later, when I had matured a little. Having been foolish enough to sell them (I even had a sweet, LE metal casing for BioShock..), I bough them both again at later dates ^^,

what games have you bought twice
Twice? Final Fantasy 9 and Rockband 2 (both of my original disks were stolen).

But I'll go you one better.

I bought Planescape: Torment and Final Fantasy 7 three times apiece.

Planescape Torment because the disks kept going missing. Mysteriously missing.

Final Fantasy 7 I only lost one disk to once - disk 2 of my PC version, which is how I first played it. So I bought it again on PS1. And THEN I bought it again - in the original Japanese (an import). Just cause.

Resident Evil 4. Originally on the Gamecube, then again on the PS2 and AGAIN on the Wii. And soon, on either LIVE or PSN.

Kingdom Hearts 1+2 and Chain of Memories. I actually just recently bought them.
Tales of Symphonia.
Shadow of the Collosus.
Baten Kaitos
Chibi-robo
Super Smash Bros Melee
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
Viewtiful Joe

I recently got a hold of a Gamecube and a PS2, so have been rebuying some of my favorite games.

Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas. All were originally on console, but I rebought them when I got an adequate PC. For ze mods :D

I also rebought Kingdom Hearts, a few years after I traded it in and got a real hankering to play it again.

Would you count HD releases? If so, then Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, MGS 1+2, Devil May Cry 1+3.
And you just reminded me that I need to but a copy of Devil May Cry 3. How's 1 and 2?
1 is pretty much where the entire hack n slash genre started, so it's pretty bare bones in complexity compared to 3, but it's still a very solid game.

2 is just, meh. It'd the weakest in the series with quite a few questionable design choices when it came to combat mechanics. I'd play it once if you've never done before, but I doubt it's something you'd go back to like DMC3.

Oh and the king of them all Delta Force Black Hawk Down, what a game. Have this three times, one on PS2, then bought on PC when they shut the servers down...then forgot to bring it to uni with me so bought another copy.

Warcraft III
Since the disks broke and the patch that allows you to open the game without them hadn't been published yet so to play my favorite game I had to re-purchase them.

In recent memory I bought Dead Space 2 twice, mainly because the PC port got bugged and I had to restart, and although I would have restarted anyway, I wanted a physical console copy to put on my shelf because I think that game is freaking great.

I re-bought Mass Effect 1 on XBL because the disc got fucking annihilated. I seriously wish I didn't throw it out to take a picture and show how bad this game got destroyed.

I also bought a Wii, sold it, re-bought it, and then sold it again. I'm planning on getting WiiU soon, because I want a Wii again.

Most recently, Borderlands 2 (PC for me, PS3 for family.) I'm also big into buying the Steam 3 or 4 copy bundles so I can load a copy on the various computers around the house. Also bought 2 copies of FarCry 3 yesterday, one for me and one for the Mrs. Bought her a copy of Kingdoms of Amalur also, which I already have.

Strictly non-digital though would be a lot less. Diablo 2, so I could multi-box on several computers. Probably a dozen copies of StarCraft because friends would keep wanting me to play with them but since I didn't care for the game I'd keep giving my copies to my little brother to give to his friends. Age of Wonder because I misplaced my original copy. Brigadine because someone stole my original copy. Vice City because even though I thought I was through with PS2, I wasn't through with that game! (Bought it a third time on Steam so I could be through with PS2.)

Most amusingly, Team Fortress 2. Bought the Orange Box for PS3 when it first came out. Fell in love with that game so bought it on my roommate's Steam account for better multi-play. And then it goes F2P shortly thereafter... And I didn't even get to keep my halo and proof since I don't use her account anymore. What a world.. what a world.. what a world...
