Have you ever played a game that you absolutely hated the first time you played, but a while later you liked?

For me it was Gladius on the Gamecube. At first I couldn't stand the combat, but I found it fun about a year later.

Final Fantasy 10.

my experience with FF games before that was a brief spell of FF1 and then FF9 a few years later. so i was all like "how this a final fantasy game, its all set in the future and stuff.. gawsh, i'm off to go grab bums as zidane and be scared of heights as Vivi!"

a few years later, i stumbled into it again and needless to say, its the most hours i've put into any final fantasy game... infact, if you get all the other amounts of hours from the other games, add them together, you probably still get less than the 300+ hours i spent in that game... keep in mind i've gotten to the point on FF4 where i could kill the last boss with any selection of characters by just pressing attack for each one... and i played FF9 to death a bit too.

Fear 2.

Even though it's not as visceral as the first its SP is still a lot more fun than 95% of the shooters out there now...=/

Shadow of the Colossus. At first i didn't get it and ran around the landscape looking for enemies to fight and not really knowing what to do, so i gave up. A few days later i came back to it and managed to find a boss. After about half an hour i couldn't work out how to beat that, so i gave up again. Then i finally worked out how to bring it down and was like "Ohh... NOW i get it" which then got me into the game. Until then i couldn't work out why everyone was praising it so much.

Most games I play. The first time around, I'm usually too busy trying to figure out the controls to pay attention to the story, and I end up not knowing where I am or why I'm there (i.e. Bioshock and Oblivion). Maybe I'm just dense...
