Games you couldn't wait for that turned out to be huge disappointments.

Star Wars: Force Unleashed, previews of the game talked about how amazing the enemy AI would be, how objects and walls would take realistic damage based on their material, and that you would have an arsenal of force powers at your disposal.

Then I played it and found Starkiller to be a sissy, an AI that wassn't anything special, and I never noticed any dynamic environmental damage. Sure, you had an assortment of force powers, too bad using them was clunky and the weakness of EVERY enemy was force lightning, making just about every other ability useless.

Oh, and remember how they advertized the scene where you pull down star destroyer? I never imagined that would be anything but awesome... but it seems I was proven wrong.

Homefront: The SP was bland and repetitive and the MP is STILL broken

Black Ops: It's MW2 just in 'Nam with some even more obnoxious bullshit Killstreaks and it officially buttfucked any degree of realism when RC cars were blowing me up left and right while the worst JFK impersonation since my drunk Polish Uncle Floyd had that concussion

New Vegas: Oh Lord, it was such BS! I loved the Plot and the factions and some of the stuff they added but it was so rushed feeling! Invisible walls, huge mountain ranges and level 20 monsters made up for a lack of actual settlements or interesting places to scavenge. I'd rather spend eighty hours in the DC Underground then twenty minutes in the Mohjave Wasteland

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising: So bad. So very bad. While I recognize it was obviously geared towards a certain type of player that doesn't mean they had to make just to his standards. The mission were just "Run for ten minutes until you get to this useless fishing village then shoot some Chinese guys at 500 Meters, then run to another fishing village and repeat ten times over, thanks for the money moron.

Probably more.

Brink I guess. I wasn't hugely pumped for it, but I was expecting something decent.

Turned out to be a big ol' waste of money.

Return to Krondor:

This was the sequel to one of my favourite games of all time (Betrayal at Krondor) but it failed to be remotely interesting. If they had just brought out the original with better graphics I would have been happier.

more recently I will go with Halo. Its not a terrible game, thats not what I am saying, but the hype around it, the people who told me that it revolutionised FPS games - all of that got me very excited. I played it and found it to be nothing special really. I had enough fun playing on deathmatch but nothing compared to the enjoyment I had out of the Quake games. I was hoping for something more but got the usual in a prettier package.

I don't get Fable 3. unless you were upset it was too similar to Fable 2. But I wonder then why you would preorder it...

Final Fantasy XII. All I'm going to say was that it just wasn't fun. At all.

And FF XII couldn't have been that bad, my friend but in over 200 hours on that game, but couldn't even finish FF XIII because Hope is such a pisshead.

I knew both those games would suck, I played the demo for Dragon Age 2 and it sucked, and for Fable 3, I just didn't feel into it after Fable 2. The Orginal Fable was incredible though, I remember going to Gamestop years ago and seeing that carboard cutout of the boy half-saint and half-demon. I couldn't wait for that game just because of that, and I kept my ears out listening for tidbits of information on this game. When I heard that actions you perform, good or bad, actually affect the story line and how the NPCs interact with your character, I was astonished, the gaming world had never heard of such a thing before! And when I got my hands on the game (what seems like years after I originally saw that cardboard cutout)I fell in love with it. I savored every moment, every choice from defeating the killer bee queen, to sparing (or killing, ov course) Twinblade. And the story: Perfect. Everything from the identitiy of your mother, to the way you were born, to your ancient bloodline and how you were destined to save the world because of it, everything tied together flawlessly in the end to leave your jaw hanging at the end of the game.

... And then Fable 2 came... 'nuff said

The new Aliens vs Predator. I liked AvP2 and hoped they had improved since then. I guess it is not absolutely terrible, but it is not as improved as I would have liked.

Because I was nostaglic for Fable 1, which I thought was one of the best games for the last generation of consoles. And even tho Fable 2 wasn't nearly as great it looked like Lionhead Studios had seen their mistakes and fixed them. But alas, they did not and all we got was a disapointing, too early released game. Which was another thing that bummed me, there was so many errors and little bugs and glitches. And the story was pretty half-assed too, they should've worked on it for a year before they released it. :(

Completely different kind of games. FFXIII is going through linear corridors with what I consider a fun pretty fast battle system, and with tons of FMVs. FFXII has some pretty large areas, has towns unlike XIII, battles are fought on the same screens as the dungeons, light on the story compared to the other recent FF games, and fights are a combination of WRPGs and the active turn based system. Sad to say maybe but I enjoyed FFXIII more overall and actually beat it unlike FFXII.

Wait wait, you thought Lionhead Studios wouldn't mislead and overhyped? o_O I played it expecting it to be like Fable 2 which I think it was compared to in the reviews so wasn't really disappointed at all really. Fable games even the first one to me are funny easy diversions... (I see nothing wrong with some games doing that...)

Oblivion. My first thought was, "Awesome, a sequel to Morrowind!"
Then I loaded up the game and wondered who took a dump on it.

Every single attempt to combine RPG and FPS games, with the notable expections of Deus Ex and Mass Effect.

Homefront... single player had so much potential because what they invested into the setting and characters, but it was agonizingly short.

I love the multiplayer though, which I consider far more tolerable than CoD. If only I can find people to form a squad with, then I might as well sell back Black Ops.
