So, I bought a Kinect sensor for my X-Box 360, along with Dance Central. I like music, I loved Rock Band and Guitar Hero, both these games and Dance Central are made by Harmonix, which means high quality. Also, the thought of using my entire body as the controller seemed like a fun thing and I am always in the market for new things.
In addition to this, my girlfriend likes go out and dance, and seeing as how I have the rhythmic feel and grace of a Grand Theft Auto ragdoll being hammered by several cars at once, I figured this would greatly improve my feeling for rhythm and dancing skills. Plus, it would be nice to have a game that we could play together.

So yeah, I tried it and I SUCK at it. My God.

Picked the easiest songs there are, use the "break up" option in the game that lets you practice every dance move separately, and I still fail horribly. I have yet to complete one tutorial that went past waving my arms in a certain matter. Forget waving my arms and moving my feet at the same time, my body cannot handle this insanely complex combination of two things at the same fucking time.

Needless to say, this is all extremely frustrating and I've never been known for my patience with video-games (many controllers, consoles, keyboards, mice and game discs have gone to gamer hell due to me), so all in all, I can practice for about 5 minutes before I feel like kicking the television.

My girlfriend says that I need to just suck it up and practice and eventually I will get a feel for it. I don't think that I will, I think that the wall will crumble due to my raging fists before I will get a feel for this FUCKING dance game.

So, what about you? Any games that you spent a wad of money on and turned out that you just can't play it (for whatever reason)?

Every strategy game ever.

I turtle like mad, spend more time arranging my buildings in nice patterns than I do using them and watch every single fight/skirmish that takes place, even though doing so leaves my base(s) constantly unattended.

I still enjoy them, actually; I can just never play against AI harder than normal.

A game that more accurately fits your title is Frozen Synapse. Clever idea, nice little indie title, let's give it a shot - all my guys die on the first round. THE FIRST ROUND. OF THE FIRST MISSION. IN THE GAME. I was not expecting fail of that magnitude.

I'm apalling at RTS games. I also suck at the original Fallout, having already gotten stuck withing an hour of starting. And also the first Deus Ex. Hmm...

They're still good though.

Thats not your fault your not beating hard AI's if your turtling, the longer those fights last the more time the PC can build things faster and more efficiently, try rushing strategies and try to catch them off guard.

I cant get fighting games, more specifically mortal kombat deception, i did ok at the game, until it started making me try to do those ridiculous mega multi button frikkin combos, also street fighter 4 i never won a match after playing for months :/

This right here is me.

I like to take time to build up my little army and have buildings going up.

I'm absolutely horrible at strategy games. Warcraft III's campaign ON NORMAL absolutely murdered me. Here's the thing I realized, I'm really good with limited troops but terrible when it comes to base building.
The other really easy game to put in here is Oblivion. Loved me some Fallout 3. Friend of mine suggested Oblivion. Thought I might try it out. Got destroyed more than a few times, level up system hated me, could not figure out where I needed to go, etc. etc. et freaking cetera. Basically I've never touched it again, and the game has caused me to go into bouts of insanity every time its brought up.

Every fighting game I've ever played.
Loved Tekken, was absolutely awful at it.
Same goes for Street Fighter, BlazBlue, Dead or Alive, Marvel Vs Capcom... the list goes on...

Dead Space. I constantly found myself lacking ammo during the 2nd and 3rd chapter. And how the hell am I supposed to get that many power cores to upgrade my shit?

What? I loved Oblivion more than most games because of the EXTREMELY easy to navigate maps and markers. I only ever found myself lost when I had to discover the Mythic Dawn's hideout in the Emperor Way; I though that I had to go inside the palace.

you should try Dawn of war 2

i can't play fighting very well. though this might be due to not having any friends into fighting games in the first place...

Yea...I've heard that A LOT. And considering Dawn of War is actually one of the only RTS's I was able to figure out, I might do that when I get some money that isn't reserved for my survival (food, etc.)

Yea...I have no absolutely no idea how I managed that. I really want to try again because it was something random that screwed me over but I have the worst feeling that I'm going to pay for it then immediately regret it as I realize that i just suck at the game.

Most racing games. I love racing games, but typically I'm not that great at them. I just starting playing Dirt 3 and, well, I'm not that great. ;p

Economy based games... specifically Capitalism.. and Capitalism 2..
I thought.. hmm.. I'm pretty good at running this store right?.. Maybe I'll try an entire economic structure.... Nope.. I suck... I SUCK..... I REALLY SUCK...

I can't get much further than the first couple of stores before the economy crumples like Wall Street did in the 30'ies...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Probably didn't help that I chose to be stealthy in the first mission. Trying to sneak through a room in first person with several people walking around is suprisingly difficult, and often comes down to hiding behind a corner as they all shoot at me, as I occasionally try to take one out with the very little ammo I have.

I can play the game. I'm just not enjoying myself so far. I may have to restart and start using my guide to decide my every action, which will slow down the gameplay even more...

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition.
I never played it in the arcades, but I like Street Fighter 4. 4's fun, and I'm not the worst at it. I lose more than I win, but I do win every now and again.
The same cannot be said for 3rd Strike.

It feels like such a different game to 4. I suppose it's a good thing that they didn't just re-release the same game, but I can't get my head round it. Timing for combos feels way tighter, execution has to be far more precise and don't even get me started on parrying. That crap's hard.
I'd been looking forward to it for a while, but 3rd Strike looks like it requires a far bigger input of time than I can be arsed to give.

Street Fighter IV for the 360. I don't know why though, I've been brought up with fighting games all my life...I'm guessing you have to be asian to be able to complete that game, nevermind unlock achievements on it.

I love Assassin's Creed Brotherhood to death, but I don't even stand a chance in multiplayer. But that's mainly because everyone has throwing knives, guns, and whatnot from their levels. That's why I think level-unlocking equipment has to be the stupidest idea to happen to online.

EDIT: I'm still very good in singleplayer.

And also StarCraft. Love the Zerg, but going online wouldn't even be worth the 30 seconds of actually playing.

It's nice to make the base look pretty, right? I can't stand making it unorganized.
