I've at least attempted this for Metal Slug 7 and Mirror's Edge, both games generally good for that sort of thing.

Speedrunning has gotten more difficult when games have more randomness or fuzzy logic, and 3D spaces.

I did it with both of the Zelda games on the 64. I tried to do it with Diablo II, but the fact that the dungeons are different every time totally screwed me up.

Mega Man X1/X2/X3

I only timed myself once though, on an X2 playthrough. 100% items in...uh...45-50 minutes or so. I don't recall exactly.

40 minutes?

I used to spend loads of time playing it while I waited for my train home, I think my best time was about 18 mins

I used to speed run the old Resident Evil's all of the time, and I also did it with 4 + 5.

Also tried to speed level a couple of WoW characters, iirc I got a Rogue from 1-60 in 1 day gametime. Triple XP RAF bonus ftw ;)

I once did a speed run of Fallout 3 with Broken Steel. So far I`ve completed Take It Back! with a Level 15 character in 10 hours. ( I skipped Galaxy News Radio and Rescue from Paradise)
Occasionally you can talk you're way to success. Like the Wasteland Survival Guide and GNR of course. Easy xp. But 10hrs damn. No idea how long it would take me to get to level 15 without Mr Sandman :p

Spyro, I probably could get the world record for speed running it but I'm not, just becuase it would make me a nerd
In about 2 and a half hours

Spyro 2 Gateway to Glimmer fully completed in about 5 hours, all gems and stuff like that. I just think it's a brilliant game and something that's sorely missing on the 360 (good platform games I mean, although I suppose a lot of them are being released on XBLA now)
No matter how quickly I probably could beat these games, I've never been able to speedrun them because I always get caught up in the music, atmosphere, etc. Incidentally, have either of you noticed that in the first game, each of the dragon worlds have their own flag?

MGS 4, got it from about 20 hours or so to 5, mostly by taking out the cut scenes.

What games do you replay just to see how fast you can finish? My game of speed would be Jak 3. I finished it so fast I don't even remember finishing it. Was around 8 hours on a game that originally took me over 20.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot my fastest finish. Super Punch-Out in 27 minutes. Never gets old.
Wow... You're really slow on Jak 3. I completed it in about eight hours the first time I played it. And I think I've gotten it down to about six or so hours. Also, I sometimes beat the first game (100%) for fun
and that usually takes around three to four hours.

My fastest finish was probably in Super Mario World, about fifteen to twenty minutes. Secret levels for the win!
I don't know. I barely remember playing it, so I just made an estimate guess.

Yes I did, mainly because I used to burn everything possible
I spent hours on one of my run throughs trying everying just to see if I could burn it

I can beat the first Spyro game in under a day. Not sure on the exact amount of hours, but faster than anything else.

I think Klonoa 2 comes in as my second fastest. First play-through only took me a span of two days, which is pretty quick for me. Haven't replayed it all the way through, to my knowledge.

Very, very nice. Did you ever manage to beat Bear Hugger in less than 17 seconds? I've come close, but I haven't managed it yet...

As for me, I can finish Ninja Gaiden in under 10 hours.
