Secret of Evermore. Still a fun game. Everyone hated it because it wasn't Secret of Mana.
Love that game, didn't like Secret of Mana. The dog was waaay more fun than anything Secret of Mana had to offer.

Other games I've played that no-one else at the time had heard of:
Shadow Hearts I
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga (PS2, waay before Persona was a blip in America)
Return to Zork (man, i love this game)
Zork Nemesis
The Void (modern game, weird as all-get-out, but hauntingly fantastc)
Betrayal at Krondor (one of the best RPGs of all time, but I didn't know anone else who had it)
Companions of Xanth
Lands of Lore Series (yup, all 3 of them)
Legend of Kyrandia Series

Whenever I bring Tropico into a conversation, anyone listening hasn't got a clue what I'm talking about.
And (BIG fucking shame) nobody I know has ever heard of Max Payne. Seriously?
It's because they remember the half-movie that the series was based on. Then they cry at night.

I haven't played Tropico but at least saw it. How was it?
Bit steep, but once you get the hang of it, there's many an hour to waste.

Mutant League Hockey.

I was the only person I knew, back in the day, who had that game...till I met my current girlfriend - not saying the game sealed the deal just the dork factor.

Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1. I live in the UK, so its rather rare over here.
Yeah, I'm in the UK and I imported a US copy. I felt so unique... until you wrote that.

For me, I'd say just about any adventure game for the PC after Grim Fandango. Any of Cryo's obscure titles such as Salammbo or Atlantis III: A New Word, or Microids' titles such as Post Mortem or Amerzone.

The Megaman Battle Network series. Nobody around here seems to have ever even heard about it.
