They aren't Russian.

And you could have always invested time into the story? GTA4 has, in my opinion, one of the greatest stories to have ever graced the gaming world. It's just a shame people want to just KILLKILLKILLDRIVEKLLSPLATTERKILLMURDER.

On Topic: Team Fortress 2. I am so tired of this game. Yes, it has a nice backstory. Yes, it has funny characters. Yes, the engine is nice and allows for lots of cool things to happen in game.

But the playerbase.

Oh God, the playerbase.

I honestly liked the game for a long time, but around two weeks before it went F2P, it really started to decline.

[sub]And I paid £25 for that game, and had my fun ruined by F2P-ers...[/sub]

You hate CoD, Gears and Halo? Wow, you certainly are on your own around here!

Personally, I never liked TF2 very much. Granted, I've never understood the hardcore Valve fandom anyway, but TF2 is just... Meh. The only thing that I thought was good about it was the art style, and even that's tarnished by the shit hats.

Their races are never explicitly revealed, so it's perfectly reasonable to call them russian, because its left up to the player to decide.

Also, I played the entire game and found little trace of this Brilliant plot that everyone goes on about. I found every character to be irritating, repulsive, or both, and I was given no real reason to care what happened to them.

Niko's backstory also jarringly contradicted his actions in the gameplay, because whilst playing the game- whether intentionally or not- you wind up causing ridiculous amounts of carnage and death, but in cutscenes Niko won't shut up about how he just wants to leave his violent past behind.

I liked the themes about the american dream, but the characters that were supposed to pull me through the story had the opposite effect.

Also I would like to say that I think that story is the most important part of a game, so while I appreciate what they tried to do with GTAIV's story, I would have preferred if they'd either done a good job of it or made the game fun to play.

Fallout 1 & 2.

I understand perfectly well why they're liked. I mean, once you get in to them/got into them when they were all the rage, I'm sure they're wonderful, and there's loads of interesting things a full 3D AAA-title can't really do justice the same way in them.

But... No, they just won't let me in. And after a while, it just feels like I'm wondering around a gravelpit somewhere with some sheds and actors thrown in to complete the illusion. Then, I'm swamped by Geckos and whatnot...

Still, can't say I hate it... I hate very few games, even ol' Modern Warfare 2 which robbed a few precious hours of my life from me haven't earned my hatred. A game have to be wrong to the very core and without any redemtive traits or good intentions anywhere to save it, like Rapelay or something.

Speeaaaaking of Modern Warfare 2... The story just makes my eyes bleed. It'd been salvagable if they hadn't expected me to take it seriously, and if it had been something like a parody of silly wargames or something.

Mass Effect 3 (not including the terrible ending). I had so many problems with that game such as Cheesy writing ("I'm proud of you, son"), a loading screen at EVERY FUCKING DOOR and the game was so watered down it was basically Gears of War.

Oblivion. I found this game boring as hell. Seriously why the fuck did they think that the conversation pie was a good idea? And why does every character look at me like they want to kill me? And why are there only 10 voices in the game? The combat was pretty boring as well.

Dragon Age: Origins. Terrible Combat, Annoying characters and it was basically just running around corridors with SOME open world.

Also, Every Call of Duty (except for 1,2 and 3), Halo and Gears of War game.

Metroid Other M. So underhandedly misogynistic it got me to hate it on those values alone.
Duke Nukem Forever. Mediocre to the ninth degree and yet people still went out and bought it.
I think you're missing the point of "everyone seems to love"
No one liked those. People bought duke, I don't think many people liked it at all.

OT: Half life series. Bored me to death.
I've seen people defending them, that's just enough in my books. Hating Half Life is sacrilidge I say!
But certain strokes for different folks, people like Wow and Pokemon, and the grind was absolutely unbearable.

I thought of something much better though. Minecraft. I loathe and detest it. I'm a bit odd in my pretenses to presentation, but I expect a worlds version of a ball to be ROUND. If I wanted everything to be cubic id fix my Nintedo 64.
Also I think Notch is a pompous tool. Sells an unfinished version/trail of Mineceaft on the indie bundle only to have it end and redirect then to pay him. Fuckin low to leech off a charity.

Super Smash Bros Brawl (and any fighting game, for that matter), Guitar Heroes and other rhythm based games. Never had any fun with them, they just don't do it for me.

Diablo games. Everyone loves them, but I just don't see the appeal of going into dungeon after dungeon and destroying my mouse button.

Call of Duty. I despise those games. They are all remakes of World at War.
