I really like the call of duty series because it's really good entertainment. The multiplayer is fun and fast-paced, the single-player campaign is a series of explosions and plot twist that requires little brainpower and whatever extra mode they throw in is usually really fun in co-op.
BUT COD SUCKS !"/!"$!24123JFSDA according to nearly everyone on the internet >.>

I've also become quite a fan of the Touhou series of shoot-em ups for the ludicrous premise, great music and insane fandom. It's quite hard to pitch the series to anyone who asks about it:
"Basically it's a game about legions of 15 years old girl beating the snot out of one another with colorful bullets. Soundtrack is awesome too."-me
"..."-Everyone else, before awkwardly changing subject.

X-2 was also admittedly my very first foray into Final Fantasy, thus starting the beginning of a long and happy relationship with a series as I explored past titles.
You never forget your first time.
I didn't actually like the game myself, but I consider the part where Yuna holds a concert in the Thunder Plains to be one of the most powerful cutscenes in gaming history, and I don't say that lightly.

Anyway, topic time: Fable 3. I'm not embarrassed per se, but I would never openly admit it unless someone asked me directly... especially not on the interwebz, where I'm pretty sure it's illegal to enjoy. I know why I love it too: the combat. Yes, it's broken and ridiculously easy. Yes, every other aspect of the game is painfully mishandled - but I honestly don't care. I just freaking love the combat. I still pop in the game every now and again on weekends, when nobody is around... with curtains drawn... and the volume on mute...

Pokemon, I guess? I'm sort of outside the age range, and I would never actually admit to anyone I know that I still enjoy the games, but there's just something about catching and leveling Pokemon that I've always found enjoyable.

Sadly... I love The Sims.
I hated it for years, and then I played TS2 with my exgirlfriend. Now I build houses while I mine in EVE, and I have various Sims I mess around with that have a story and purpose. All the mods for it don't help my problem either...

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and Final Fantasy X-2. I like them because I'm a fan of shameless fanservice, and I'm afraid to own up to enjoying both games because then I get hit with "What is WRONG with you?"

Singularity and Syndicate remake, now with the addition of Medal of Honor

Singularity is overall a pretty beat-down game by critics and players alike, but I always enjoyed the game. I liked the concept behind it and while the gameplay was pretty standard, I had fun. Isn't that all that counts in a game? But oh well.

Syndicate (The Remake) was fun. I absolutely loved the story and actually really wanted to know more about the universe. While everyone regards the game as Lense-flare shoot'em'up standard, (which it is mind you) I still enjoyed every second of it. It is a shame it is published by EA as well.

I really hate to put Medal of Honor up here, but I have to. In light of EA being horrible to the franchise and this newest release kind of putting MoH on the lower end of gaming recently, it is a shame to see my favorite franchise be run down this far. However I will always be a Medal of Honor fan, despite these set backs. And I have to stand my ground, I did not think MoH2010 was as bad as everyone received it to be. The campaign had a relatively interesting story and the multiplayer (although just a large run-n'gun fest) was actually captivating enough to keep me around.

So yeah, I have fun playing these games despite public opinion of them. And sometimes I feel bad doing so, but I shall not let your opinions of them keep me down!

Turok. The new one. If you dare to say to me it's generic, I'll have to cut your lips off. What other game lets you kill motherfucking dinosaurs with a knife while fighting cyborgs and Helghast-looking dudes with a bow and arrow in some pretty well-made stealth sequences? Along with having some pretty nice ass weapons and some really satisfying bosses? Don't tell me shoving a grenade in a T. Rex's eye socket and then running away while it detonated isn't testicle-shatteringly awesome.

That being said, it's shooter controls were an ass and a half, it had atrocious voice acting, and it didn't have a lot of really kick ass scenes.

Finny the Fish and the Seven Waters along with A Dogs Life.

But... there's also Zanzarah. Which I love to pieces. But involves faries.
Zanzarah the hidden portal (A.K.A God i wish someone would do a HD remake!); Take pokemon, make it 3d, make it PC, replace the pokemon with faries and toss out the turn based combat for freal-time first person arena shooting!
Admittedly you had spells, not guns, but there was nothing like the satisfaction of charging up a really nasty spell and flying into the air and zapping your opponent with it.
Although I love it's gameplay, story and general everything, it is a little difficult to explain to people; "you play as Amy and You catch faries with silver spheres."
Admittedly some of those faries were less tinkerbell and more winged polar bears, skeletons, satanesque fire demons and symbyotic half-tree half-grub body-builders- but faries nonetheless.
.... Now I've started thinking about it again. I miss it. Fairies and all.
Would steam greenlight accept a game released about ten years ago?

Fable series. O that cutesy, 'you can get along with everyone and save the world with hugs' mentality... O how I hate to love you...
You can't hate Fabl-.. Oh right, one button combat, schizophrenic game design, no sense of mood...

But it is so lovely, the setting, the characters, the voices and emotes. They are all so charming!
No, I do not hate to admit my love for Fable, but I know why I should.

I'm going to jump up on the "no shame here" bandwagon along with (almost) everyone else. However, I'll say Agarest: Generations of War. I like this game a lot - it's just that it's an objectively bad game in almost every aspect. There are flashes of brilliance, but in general... Utter shit. Maybe I like it so much because when I'm playing it I imagine what it COULD have been if only it had a bigger budget, or it wasn't made by Compile Heart, or whatever it is that held the game back. Actually, I'm picking it was just it's affiliation with Compile Heart.

I have to say The Sims. While I don't feel exactly ashamed, I don't feel like telling how much I like the game because:

- some people consider it girly
- some think it's a totally casual game
- other people dislike it for other reasons
- it's milked like nothing else by EA!

Well, let me tell you that I have played it since TS1 and it's unique and an amazing toy sand-box. A tool for creativity and experiment on humans. I still enjoy The Sims 3 and it's one of the few games from 3 years ago that I still play from time to time.

And it's one of the games where milking the game is great and it's something fans of the series indeed want. Each expansion pack adds content to the game and makes it more fun and with more possibilities for gameplay and creation.

If anything, I wish future expansion packs added some more complexity to the gameplay. A bit more of the simulator part of the game. More strategy. You know, something a bit like Dwarf Fortress, but with graphics and simlish.

I have very few guilty pleasures except for maybe the original Halo, which really is not very good after the flood get introduced and it's not at all well-written. But I do find it very satisfying.

Most games I "hate to admit that I love" are controversial stuff like Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy VIII, which are honest to god three of my favorite games of all time, but you always get a ton of shit for liking them. I will admit that none of them are perfect, but most people really just don't get what's going on in those games at all.
