I can only remember beating a few games on Hard or Harder difficulty. Those being Modern Warfare 2 (beat it on Veteran), Max Payne 2 (beat it on the hardest setting) and Ninja Gaiden II (I beat it on Path of the Mentor).

I find it kind of sad. I can say the majority of modern games within this and last year. It's habit for me now to play new games on Hard right away when I buy them. Not too long ago I fired up a PS2 game.. some hack and slash RPG I don't remember what it was, but out of habit I went on hard. I got absolutley destroyed.
EDIT: I guess to be specific, the only game I remember being proud of beating were Ninja Gaiden Black on Mentor (Difficulty above hard if I recall correctly?) and Resident Evil 4, being pro withOUT using a new game +. Just standard new game. And I also got the handcannon on the original Gamecube version. Shit that was hard.

Every Halo except the second on legendary (it was hard, and I got too frustrated to continue).
Warcraft 3, although it really wasn't that hard.
Was on my way to completing Space Marine on hard, but then I started ordering parts for my new computer and haven't had the urge to switch on my Xbox since then.
That's basically it, I don't really play a lot of games on hard difficulty unless I really like them, because then the difficulty makes every battle seem like a struggle, I like being challenged in fun games.
Edit: Doesn't really count on some levels, but Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2, I man handle the computers in that no matter what difficulty or character they are with Master Roshi of all people. I say it doesn't really count because the computer is incredibly stupid in that game and very easy to manipulate.

After more than two decades of gaming, I can't even begin to recall. There are a few that stick out in my mind from recent endeavors because of their particular scale of difficulty, though, such as Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno, Modern Warfare 2, DeathSmiles IIX, and Otomedius Excellent. Fun stuff, sometimes, and total BS others.
I always play on the hardest difficulty, whenever its available on your first run. I'm not really one for replaying most games, and usually the ones I do don't have a difficulty setting. Game difficulty has really begun to widely slip though, makes me somewhat disappointed.
I was going to post a list of games beaten, and then decided that a more interesting post would be a game I haven't beaten on it's highest difficulty.
Halo: Reach on Legendary/All Skulls On was so frustratingly hard I gave up, something I wasn't expecting for such a mainstream modern game. I think part of the reason it beat me was that it required a far greater knowledge of the games scripted sequences and items pickups than I was prepared to invest. Also, Dark Souls is hard but at least the enemies have finite health: trying to beat enemies in a war of attrition when their health regens faster than yours does is fucking impossible.

Well, I beat COD 2 , 4, mw2, waw all on veteran and halo 3 , CE and reach on legendary and uncharted 1 and 2 on hard. I think I'm going to attempt a brutal mode uncharted 3 very soon. A couple other random ones are dead space 1 and 2, 50 cent blood in the sand (not a bad game) and probably a lot of others that don't come to my mind.
Deus Ex 1 and Human Revolution. Usually I hate playing on hard, but I find it makes those kinds of games a lot more rewarding.
Urm... You've got me. I generally don't play games on Hard mode.
However, I regularly play Soul Calibur 4 on the Hardest Difficulty (Edge Master?) - simply because I demolish everything as Astaroth. Everything.
Oh and Guitar Hero(es). Most of them Extreme, except songs by Muse... which is partly why I hate Muse.

That must have been tedious. The bosses in there have way too much health. Agree that Bayonetta should have let you start on hard but can you imagine doing that tutorial level with nothing but Scarborough Fair and minimum health? It's bad enough with your entire arsenal.krazykidd said:

I usually play on the hardest difficulty I can when i start a game. There are only a few I don't. Namely the witcher 2. Since i'm new to the series. Which is a bad excuse. But I try to get a feel for it then restart on either hard or whatever the hardest difficulty is. Like the op said. I like me a challenge
