Starcraft. My sister sat on the first disc.

Also, World of Goo might count, since I got it during its own pay what you want sale and then got it again with the Humble Bundle.

The only thing that comes close to this is the Pokemon games. I buy every version of every main game. So I can make the perfect team etc. Also, used for storage space and other adjustments.

I have two copies of Final Fantasy 7, because I knew I was missing two out of three of my old 7 8 and 9. Still no clue where the missing two were, but someone was selling their copy of 7 for £3, so I thought I'd take it in case it was 7 it was missing, worst comes to worst, I can sell it for at least £10. It is, of course, 7 that was not missing.

Other than owning games for two different systems, I think that's it.

Only game I ever bought two copies of was Unreal Tournament 2004. I got it when it came out (not sure if I should mention it but I downloaded a less than legitimate copy before it was in stores and bought it the first day it came out. I couldn't wait to play it!) Later I bought another copy so I could get one of my friends to play with me.

Oh, and Half Life 2. I've had an extra copy on Steam since I bought the Orange Box, and everybody and their dog (no half life-related pun intended) already owns the game so I can't gift it away.
I know what you mean, in a way. I own one for Xbox, one for 360, one for PC (thanks, Half Price Books!) and there's no telling whether I'll get yet another copy.

I own two copies of Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition.

One is the standard version, which I bought six months before I could afford a PS3. I was worried that the Platinum edition would come out soon, and wanted to obtain a copy with the original cover while I still could. I try to avoid buying Platinum editions whenever possible.

The other is the Platinum edition. I bought that after I had encountered a couple of annoying bugs, and hoped that they had been discovered and removed from the newer edition. It does seem to work all right.

Pokemon Gold: 3 copies. First and second ones lost their internal batteries.
Portal: 3 copies. Bought it for PC, got the Orange Box for 360, got it for free on Mac.
Impossible Creatures: 2 copies. Both of them have broken due to overuse, and I don't want to find a 3rd copy. I don't feel ready to go through the horrible process of trying to install it on Windows Vista again.

I've only done this with the first metal gear solid, because the first disc was slightly messed up, then i went and got the greatest hits version. Shortly afterward my dad had some disc cleaner thing and the original ended up working fine. So, I still have 2 working copies. Just one is the normal game, and one 'greatest' hits'.

Sins of a Solar Empire cos I loaned it to a friend who has yet to return it after a year. Which is actually mostly my fault because we usually hang out at the cafe on campus and I keep forgetting to ask him to bring it to uni sometime.

You can play without the disc, but I needed to reinstall after the data on it got corrupted. It's a cool game, so I just re-bought.

I have 3 copies of Mass Effect. The first one got scratched up so I bought another. I lent it to my friend who lost it. Then I decided to be smart and I bought my last copy off of Steam.

I have two copies of Bayonetta, one for 360 and the other for PS3. I made the unfortunate decision of importing the game for my PS3.

Worst. Port. Ever.

For me, I only ever bought three games more than once. All due to discs being lent out (and rarely returned), stolen, or broken.

Half-Life 1 (had 5 copies at least. 3 of which were Game of the Year editions)
Homeworld
MechWarrior 3

I own Sonic 2 several times, including twice on the mega drive, twice on PS2 and once on PS3 in retro collections... it's also on my mobile phone. Pretty sure I've got several copies of the Doom collection somewhere, and Psychonauts on both PS2 and steam.
