I played dying light for about a week nonstop with a friend of mine. I played nothing but Guild Wars 2 for a few months everyday. Right now I have been playing GTA 5 on PC everyday for more than a week.

For a boring answer, any good MMO.

If I got back into WoW, I could probably play that exclusively again without getting bored for a while. I love roaming around space in Star Trek Online and I've recently started playing Neverwinter, which has been a blast as well.

But that's kind of what they're designed for.

So how about a pseudo-MMO instead? Diablo III!

Wait, what do you mean that's designed for exactly the same thing?

Oh. Hm.

If I'm allowed to cheat and use a full franchise, then Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Monster Hunter, or Kingdom Hearts.

If I'm not allowed to cheat, then . . . er . . . Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Persona 4 Golden, and Final Fantasy IX?

I've got too much free time on my hands as it is, you see.

Dwarf Fortress/Gnomoria/Rimworld, Anno 1404 Gold, Tales of Maj'Eyal, and most 4X games.

Basically a pausable or turn-based game where you build either a civilization or a character.

I've got the same problem you do. I'm trying to play Fallout 3 currently, but am unable to concentrate during the one hour I've got after work. During weekends I manage several hours until it just seems pointless and it feels like I'm wasting time.
I like new experiences so whenever I get a new game I play that until I get stuck somehow..
If it's reeaallyy great I could come back to it again..after a while.

Recently? Endless Legend. It's not often you find a strategy game where factions can play so differently from one another, and so many options for victory are viable ones. It took me a while to get into it, but it's had me absorbed for weeks.

I think a second would be Elite: Dangerous because Oculus space trucking = wow.

Heroes of Might and Magic II and III
Either of these games can easily gobble up most of my day if I'm not careful. It's got that elusive "one more turn" quality that so many strategy games try for and don't quite get right.

Torchlight II
This game scratches my itch for Diablo-style action in so many ways. I find it boring to play it on anything other than the highest difficulty settings, though.

Rogue Legacy
This one is just tons of fun, allowing the exploration of a large castle. It pushes some of the same buttons that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night would push. Speaking of which...

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Oh, like you don't know.

Fantasy Life
It's not for everyone, but in my opinion it's probably one of the more underrated games for the 3DS. It's a bit like Animal Crossing, but with swords and crafting. It's not perfect, and there's a few things I hope that will change in the sequel (such as how "chatty" some of the dialogue is,) but when you find your groove as a Woodcutter, Carpenter, Mercenary, etc, it's a lot of fun.

Dead Rising
I haven't tried part II, but part I is tied for the best $5 I ever spent on a game. It's a great "I've had a bad day" kind of game, where you can just mow down hordes of zombies. I think it has missions too, or something.

Timesplitters 2.

It just never stops being fun. Especially in co-op. Absolutely amazing game.

Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood I never get tired of playing since I think they're great, and the worlds are fantastic. Plus, I dig the time period and structures.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is another since I think the world is great and really absorbs you in. Plus, I like doing self-imposed stealth challenges to keep things spicy.

I'm gonna cheap and just say Pokemon, and all of them since they're my go to series of games to play for funsies. I always have a Pokemon game going just in case I need to curl up and relax for a couple of hours.

Mirror's Edge, all day every day.

There's ALWAYS a way for me to improve on my times, dangit!

Also, weirdly enough, Myst Online. Every time I play through, I discover something else I really enjoy, and the community is so bleeding nice.

I don't have any game that I have ever been 100% boredom resistant to, mainly because I always push my luck and if I find a game I like, I play it whenever possible and don't stop until it becomes boring. Payday 2 is the game that has come close to being always fun recently. About a year ago it was a Free weekend thingy on Steam and I played it nonstop the whole weekend, probably put 50 hours out of a possible 72 into that game. I felt I was bored of it and felt I had made a smart financial choice because I now knew that I had experienced the game, gotten the jist of it, and would not need to purchase it. However a few months later I bought it because I realized I wasn't done and it is currently my second most played game on Steam.

My most played game of all time on Steam is the tricky example that I think might have been perfect to play forever without getting bored. I loved Team Fortress 2. I say loved because I hate it now, but I really loved "vanilla" TF2's balance and dynamics. I used to spend 5 hours every night playing 2fort and it never got boring. I had around 500 hours just as the Scout before they started updating it. I kept trying to enjoy it but the new weapons unbalanced the fine system I enjoyed. Ultimately, I never got bored of the game, I feel the game I loved was taken away from me and replaced with something far worse. I don't know if I would have ever gotten bored of basic TF2, I'll never know because that game no longer exists. That said, what I enjoyed about it was very tentative and probably wouldn't have continued to exist, I really liked playing on 24/7 2Fort servers with high player counts. Switching around between roles as one became tedious made it always interesting and when people actually cooperated and tried to take the intelligence it was very fun to take part in a team effort. However, without at least 8 or so people per team it was significantly less fun, so I doubt the game would have maintained that over the years.

Some games that I can often come back to and replay but do get bored of temporarily are FTL, Ratchet and Clank (2 & 3 on PS2), Counter-Strike, Bioshock 1, Hotline Miami, and Postal 2.

The various warriors games take a while to get boring, but honestly the one game I'll never get tired of is Free Cell. Nothing like the card game I discovered back in Windows 3.1 and have loved ever since.

Final Fantasy VIII is a game I never actually stop playing: I just take long breaks from it every once in a while. I'm also always game for some Arkham City: I even had the top score on one of the riddler's challenge missions before GFWL was taken out.

For the OP: I think it depends on what kind of gamer you tend to be. If you're more focused on varied bits of action, then it'd probably be a fighter or shooter played with friends or online or with the cpu difficulty turned up. If you're more creative, minecraft. Teamwork and social interaction: any mmo. And so on.

The discussions I've had over the years with people is there's generally at least one type of game that just resonates with them, usually in the form of a favorite from the genre. I know someone that still busts out an old snes game and plays it regularly.

Minecraft, I get bored with my current world? Make a new one, they're randomized after all. I get bored with the modpack? There's a million other modpacks to choose from.

I am type of person who would discover every content possible from the game - books, NPC dialogue, etc - then replay it again.

And I have yet to have such game this thread mentions. Shame.

Skyrim. Well, the Elder Scrolls in general really but particularly with Oblivion and Skyrim. Same goes for Fallout but with particular interest to New Vegas.

I used to have this with the Mineral Town games for Harvest Moon but I seem to have overplayed them now. (I just don't like newer ones for DS/3DS - time to get cracking on Animal Parade, I guess)

Well, really, if it's just 1 week straight, that's not a problem for most games. After all, it amounts to 15 to 25 hours of gaming, usually.
1 week doing only that and eating-sleeping-buying stuff to live for the week, that's a trickier matter, because it means a game I play during holidays with something like 60 hours at the end of it. Though I do it sometimes when I go back to WOW with the 7/10-days free trial :D
Now, games I could play 1 month or more straight without being bored are a little bit less numerous, on one hand because some games will be finished before and I don't intend to play them more than a couple of times (which doesn't mean they're bad, just that they're short and, like Max Payne, Amnesia or Jade Empire, I don't have an interest to replay them 4 times in a row).
On the other hand, any game I put in more than 100 hours, or that I played for 50-100 hours straight including possible replays would still qualify. So, among others, Civilization, old Sim City, Paradox games, Total Wars, Elder Scrolls, Age of Empires, Minecraft, some RPGs like BG, Avernum series, KOTOR or Witcher which can be quite lengthy. And obviously WOW and to an extent LOTRO.

Hmm...

Interesting question. I suppose that the best answer that can be given is any game that allows you to do anything that you want within the confines of the game world. Games that keep story to a minimum and maintain an unpredictable nature to the core gameplay itself. Any good multiplayer game qualifies to a certain extent, as with the different people there are different playstyles to go up against and adapt to, which adds an element of replayability.

Certain RPGs can qualify for this as well, such as Fallout:NV, but you already got bored of that, so that's out of the question...

Strategy games can also be counted here, as the actual moves that a computer makes are often different than the last, and the luck factor for certain strategy games can lead to interesting encounters.

Rogue-likes and roguelites are also a good choice, since they are, by nature, designed for replayability. I have Ziggurat and Crypt of the Necrodancer, both of which I enjoy.

Sandbox games, if done well enough, are one of the lesser examples of this, at least in my opinion, due to their various side activities that are peppered throughout the game world. But they are all just harder versions of maybe 5 or 6 actual mini-games at the end of the day.

@Pony I can Understand most of that list, with the exception of Mass effect 3 where really enjoyed it right up until the original ending made me feel like i died a little inside. The rest, especially Dragon age inquisition, can be boring slogs with only tiny bits of story to carrot you along from point to point. I finished DA:I at 100 hours and I firmly DO NOT recommend it to anybody. The combat is boring(makes Dragon age 2 look fun by comparison) and pointless since your level is actually a stat determining how hard you hit and are hit.

The game I can play forever without end would have to be Killing floor. Very little story that you get pretty much entirely from character bios and loading screen quotes. The action is pure win and the satisfaction of firing both barrels of the hunting shotgun right in the face of a Scrake, cause his head to explode and fly backwards with his chainsaw flailing behind, is just glorious.

I bought KF2 and I'm enjoying it alot but it is Early Access(This is the first EA game that I actually bought that wasn't in a bundle, only got it because Tripwire deserves the trust unlike most/any other devs) so I worry there a risk that with the limited, although greatly polished, content that there's a risk of burn out. I fully recommend KF1 though which still has a huge playerbase.

Dynasty Warriors- I, for some reason, can't let this series go! Especially 8. I'm pretty sure I've played DW8 more than I have any other game. I love this series despite hating how repetitive and easy it is.

Kingdom Hearts- I love this seris. I loved it even when the plot got complicated as fuck.

Batman Arkham City- The Superhero game I've played the most. I love it and still play it today. I can't wait for Arkham Knight!

Kirby- Kirby is the best!
