I have a really bad habit of getting bored of games quickly and playing them in separate spurts, often several months apart, if not even more. However, one game that I never find myself getting bored of is Persona 4 Golden. Maybe because it's a portable game, and I can play it while having Youtube videos or something playing in the background, but I've spent almost 200 hours with it now and still find myself wanting to go back and play it through again another time.

Lately, I've been playing Smash Brothers on the Wii U. I just find it very fun.

And Pac-Man is so fun to play as.

I didn't get bored of Guild Wars over seven years, and only then because Guild Wars 2 was announced.

Admittedly, GW2 needs more content if it's to keep me going. Hope the expansion delivers.

I am one of those rare gamers who really dig bot shooters. I would rather have a bot shooter with a wealth of content (including user-made) than one with a 4-5 hour scripted campaign.

Thusly, I do enjoy Counter Strike: Source, which I have dozens of maps for and a dofferent model for all player characters and weapons. I can play it endlessly as a result.

Project Reality and Forgotten Hope 2 are also great bot shooters. Mods for Battlefield 2, they have full bot support with quite a large number per game (I have around 100 per match). The gigantic maps combined with all the gear and tools and nice gameplay means I can play just a single map for hours upon hours. To me, Project Reality especially is the ultimate sandbox military shooter.

Left 4 Dead 2 for much the same reason, on PC I only ever play singleplayer and have modded it to hell, changing some weapons entirely with scripts. The inherent replayability and countless user made campaigns means I will be playing this forever.

Not a bot shooter this time, but the original Doom and Doom 2. Thank to it's wealth of levels and gameplay mods means I will be playing it forever. For Doom 2 alone, I probably have around 3000+ levels, and 25 gameplay mods, many totally different to regular Doom gameplay.

Generally, I try to go as a healer since its my strongest class, though I am willing to go as a DPS (my damage isn't quite up to raid standard though) or a tank, though I could use more practice for the latest raids.

Shame about your static, was the DPS not high enough or were issues with preferred classes? We don't have a static per se, we have a linkshell full of people looking to advance and we gradually get further (just beat T10 the other day)

I know how it feels about not getting enough interest, took us ages to get progression going (our old static left to do their own thing) Personally, if we have players needing help passing raids, we help out because often times, its likely not their fault they are stuck.

Also, I know how it feels to be snobbish, you tell a DPS their damage is absolutely pathetic and they should stop playing and suddenly I'm the bad guy!
Well it was a few things. Their DPS wasn't high enough. Me and the other static leader tried to be really friendly about it. Our thinking was "Well, we're all adults here, we can just say "Hey buddy, I noticed you were doing this certain thing, why don't you try doing this instead? I noticed your DPS isn't quite up to where it should be"" But sadly, our DPS took it the wrong way. And then they wouldn't even try making their DPS any better. Also they wouldn't do fights properly and we ended up wiping constantly because of DPS mistakes. It was quite the pain :/ It was really sad. But they were adamant that they were playing to perfection and weren't doing a thing wrong. I won't say that the rest were doing perfect, but they knew their classes well and learned the fights well enough so they wouldn't make so many mistakes. But the DPS wouldn't listen at all. And took it the immature way. So they left in the end and it all just fell apart from there. It's a shame because me, the other healer and one of the tanks are a great solid team.

Grats on clearing T10 :D Sadly I'm only at T8, that's when the static fell apart.

TF2, at least when I have a computer that can play it. Playing as a demoman with ali-baba's wee booties, the sticky jumper and the axe = hilarious. Nothing like 1 shotting a heavy when you're mid air with a melee weapon.

Chrono Trigger. Not my first game, but the game that made me realize I'd be playing these things for life. Still waiting for a JRPG to touch what it did.

Rez/Child of Eden - In a gameplay sense, I could always improve each stage even a little. In other...senses...with assistance, fucking amazing. First thing I'm trying if I get an Oculus.

Pick a Souls, any Souls. Bloodborne may be on this list one day but I haven't sold a kidney for a PS4 yet. May sell everything I own for one because just Bloodborne would be more fun.

Been playing a lot of portable recently because of 1 year old, it's just a lot simpler. Put a ton of hours into Muramasa: Rebirth (Amazing art and exceptional 2D combat) and realizing I like strategy with Fire Emblem: Awakening. I need to go back and explore the genre more now (though I thought Code name: Steam was shit).

Can't forget roguelikes that let you just do a run, having Isaac on the Vita made life awesome. Need FTL on there somehow.

Borderlands and/or Borderlands 2. I played those games for hours everyday for about a year after I bought them, probably more than 1 year actually. I don't know what it is about Borderlands but it just hooks me. I'm not much of a shooter fan and I usually like my RPG's a little more involved and a lot less slap-sticky. But then there's Borderlands and that little Claptrap guy and I can't help myself. And Fallout 3 and New Vegas kind of. I did recently just take a break from New Vegas because I got bored of it but now I'm back into it.

Heroes of Might and Magic, one campaign is very long.
Guild Wars 2 since there's plenty of things to do.

Super Smash Bros. is something that I can always come back to, no matter the circumstance.

That series is designed around the unpredictable nature the matches can follow, and leaves a near-unlimited possibility of entertaining scenarios featuring beloved characters. Sure, it's easy to become frustrated with the game, but never really "bored" with it, personally speaking.

Mario, Metroid, 2D Zeldas including A Link between Worlds, Mother, Donkey Kong: Everyone fails to get how fun, imaginative and challenging Nintendo games are, and that is a shame, because they are rarely boring. All of these series are awesome and I have been playing them my whole life without getting bored.

Bionic Commando: A game that everyone should play, as the unique switch from jumping to grappling makes it special and wondrous.

Mega Man 1 through 5, 9, 10, X1 and 2: Classic games, and recently given a great retro rekindling, in both the senses of restarting and fizzling out quickly. It may be a dead series, but I still love it.

Doom, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Quarantine: I long for the days when I could distinguish between First Person Shooters, and these are the perfect examples: Their fast-paced action, complex levels and nice enemies really stnd in stark constrast to the brown corridors and generic humans of modern shooters.

Lemmings: Classic puzzle game with lots of levels, humor, bloodthirsty slaughter and style. I will never get tired of watching Lemmings et crushed.

Popful Mail: Yes the Sega CD had a classic game: A stylish, imaginative action-R.P.G. with lots of great characters and interesting levels. Well translated with a sense of humor and a higher difficulty level.

Tetris: Definitive, gaming boiled down to the simplest possible task yet infinitinely replayable. Never feels repetitive, just a perfect way to spend time. Go to Tetris Friends and you can play a version where at level 20, all the pieces become invisible: Tough at first, but eventually, you learn to place blocks instinctively, rather than consciously, and it becomes reasonable.

Bayonetta: Constant over-the-top action and weirdness mixed with strange characters and elaborate levels. Most of the worst parts of the first, like button mashing and Quick Time Events, were removed from the sequels, making it perfect.

Sierra, Lucasarts, Legend and Infocom games: Hilarious games with clever puzzles and great characters. There are some shitty ones like Phanasmagoria, Quest for Glory 2, Companions of Xanth, Gabriel Knight 2 and 3, Plundered Hearts and Spellcasting 201 but they are the minority.

Vice City: Best of the series by far, with an awesome '80s style, classic music, hilarious jokes, great mission design and a real sense of progression. I replay this every few years. Fuck the censors for hating this series. Everyone should play this, and ignore whatever arbitrary age rating is on it.

Contra, Bucky O'Hare, Castlevania, Ai Senshi Nicole, Sunset Riders, Parodius, Twinbee: Konami's definitive NES and SNES action games, with lts of fast-paced action, imagination, and challenge. Unfortunately, the only great Konami series these days is Metal Gear Solid, and the company seems to be going out of business. That Castlevania God of War clone was a worthless piece of shit, though still far superior to God of War.

Little Nemo, Ducktales, Chip and Dale, Gun Smoke, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 4, 5 and Revelations, Dragon's Dogma, Ghosts and Goblins, Street Fighter 2 and 4: Capcom's action classics, and even now, despite all the troubles, it still sometimes produces classics.

DotA 2. I have played it for a week and not gotten bored of it. More than once.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within, though I did eventually oversaturate on it.

As for SP games, I'm a big fan of the Thief series and the 2nd game in particular has eaten a weekend more than once. I doubt there's enough gameplay for a week, though.

And ofc a heavily modded Skyrim with a playstyle you haven't tried before. Currently doing a 2handed heavy armor a-political sellsword on high difficulty, and it's given many a good time already.

My vote is for The World Ends With You.

I've recently started playing it all over again. Good times.

Star Wars Battlefront 2. Between the campaign, instant action, and Galactic Conquest modes, I can have all sorts of fun. Space Battles are awesome as long as you're not sucked into the enemy hanger for easy victory (And we REALLY need a Star Wars game that updates those space battles). Of course, it helps that I can rearrange all the LEGO MICROFIGHTERS I have on my desk between battles. I need to get more Star Wars Lego sets, but they're so expensive!

I used to put Titan Quest in here, but I've realized now that I find it an unfun slog that won't give me my damn set items I want!

Diablo 2 is surprisingly still a good contender, but I have too many other games to explore and play instead.

I don't get bored in GTA 5 or any Civilization game.

In GTA if I get tired of doing hist or missions I just tend to get on my bike or car and drive all around the map find new shortcuts and what not.

Everything, no matter how good, can be overdone.

But games I tend to return to and replay the most? Nu-Tomb Raider's high on that list; Yamatai's just a gorgeously immersive place to 'be' in and explore. I find the character movements just perfect, in that simply walking, running, and interacting with the gamespace is satisfying in a tangible way I've rarely ever felt with other games. Lara's great [virtual] company, too, a likable, sympathetic, and empathetic character. I think that game's a benchmark in terms of 3rdP animation and immersion (helped in no small part by the gorgeously minimalist approach to the HUD).

Mass Effect 2 would be higher on my list of games that have been replayed, but I have to endure ME1 first to get to it (I have Gibbed ME1 away entirely once or twice, though).

I found Star Wars The Force Unleashed to have a ridiculous degree of replayability, given that it had an excellent story, as well as gameplay that could always throw up a moment of unique brilliance where the AI and physics were concerned (if you got creative with your Force powers, that is).

Half-Life 2, XCOM:EW, Dragon Age 2, and Skyrim would be a few others I keep getting drawn back to, to enjoy again.
