WoW
Every time tried to play I felt as if I could be doing something of higher significance.
To me it seemed like a job.
Quoted for truth.

Being decent at games, I had one friend that recommended 2D fighting games and other who suggested Go to have someone to play against. Took me a really like time for me to come around but once i did i got really sucked it.

JRPG`s are the games i can`t get into. sure the story maybe good, but i don`t like having to sit through random turn based battles, leveling, and other various crap to proceed through the story. I might as well watch a movie or read a book.
Also I never got into CS. Halo or something with a campaign mode introduces the engine and gives you a nice difficulty curve to improve your skills. Even if you suck; you don`t feel too far removed from better players. Also it`s intuitive enough you can pick up a controller and get a sense of what`s going on. Logging on to a CS server and getting one minute into the beginning of each round while i was still trying to figure out the controls and why the gun didn`t shoot where the cross hair was really turned me off to it. It`s a very unforgiving game to start off.

For me its Dead Space. I want to love it, the idea (although a little unoriginal) is a good one and the weapons are awesome. But the Camera angle murders the game for me, the controls feel lethargic and overly complicated and Issac just isn't agile enough for my liking.

I just don't like the controls, and when that happens I just can't get into a game.

The Orange Box. I really wanted to like Half-Life and Portal because I heard they were great games. Portal just bored me. Plain and simple. When I played Half-Life 2 I just didn't like the targeting system at all. Plus, I couldn't get into the story. I just really didn't care about what was happening to Freeman or anyone for that matter. TF2 would have been good though if more people played it just because of the sheer variety.

For me I want to enjoy Mass Effect but can't, because of the combat.
Exactly. Right now I'm putting on a real effort to try and play it and enjoy it but the combat is just so "meh". Hopefully they'll fix it in the sequel. Oh, and Farcry 2 is another one.

Portal.

I really couldn't get used to the disorientating feeling I got once I came out of one.

KotoR 2.

I just finished the first one the other day, and after trying the second, it just feels too... different. I don't even know why, but I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I did the first.
its because its not made by bioware instantly making it crap.

for me its GRAW 2 or battlefield bad company, i think both are awesome but i just can't be arsed with either

Fallout 3 definately. I heard great things, and I really wanted to enjoy it, and once I got it, I even went on a straight 9 hour session without realising it, but after that, I just struggled to stay interested for even 15 minutes. The quests didnt' seem interesting enough, the weapons degrading at a horrible rate and leaving me with just my fists far too often, and then the environment just feeling entirely too samey.

Real shame, I keep hoping I might be able to get into it again, but I have no desire to play it.

For me, probably Eat Lead, the combat was okay but the character's movement was way too slow. Or the game madworld after 30 minutes of play.

I want to play Bioshock, but the gameplay is awful. I love the story and atmosphere, but I just can't bring myself to complete it.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Do you just not like RPG's? Because Bioware are probably the best devs, in my opinion.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I like the other two but I think Brawl is the weakest of the series.

Half-life II.

Supposedly a great FPS, but between the endless scripted story sequences that you can't skip and the fact that I've yet to get to a point in the gameplay where it isn't a fairly shallow run&gun kills it for me.

I thought Dead Space nailed how a survival horror's controls should be; Isaac wasn't Master Chief, but I didn't feel like I was wrestling with the control scheme like in Resident Evil 4&5. What killed Dead Space for me was the lazy, uninspired story.

The Metal Gear Solid games...
Really, there are enough game mechanics that seem to be specifically designed to break the player out of the immersion.
Basically the whole series seems to me like a document of bad game design.

Amazing I was going to say (type) the exact same thing.
