Oh yea. I'm going there. Games that have made you want to take a nail gun to the face opposed to continuing on. I love challenging games, so these went above and beyond difficult: Busby the cat for SNES. Nobody can beat that one, or even get to the last level for that matter. Yo Noid for NES. I was so determined to beat it, but never could. Resident Evil 2 gets an honorable mention, but I was able to make it through (barely). Metal Gear for NES. Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, but that game had horrible controls. Tail Spin for NES, I'm realizing a lot of NES games were rediculously difficult. South Park-PC. I'm not sure why I couldn't beat that one. Choppy contols and a level where you can fall to your death I think. Comix zone foe Sega Gen- sweet game, hard boss battles. Maximum carnage for snes, Sonic Spin ball for sega, and Ecco the Dolphin for Sega (how does that damn cheat code go again?). Although these games were impossible, games these days are to easy. Is there some kind of middle ground?

What were some games that made you loose sleep at night?

lol, I got stuck in the deku tree in ocarina of time :p I didn't know how to burn through a web that was beneath me (I was like 10!). ended up getting my friend to complete it for me. still fun though. Played it again and got stuck in the water temple and had to use a walkthrough.

Also I couldn't beat the empress of time in PoP WW. Not enough sand and I only had one savegame.

Also C&C 3, the bit where you have to divert power around the base.

The last level of the Nod campaign in CC3 kicked my ass three ways to sunday. I still like the game though, I just can't beat that level.

Actually, I never got myself to finish Ocarina of Time, I got to the water temple, got stuck about half-way through and tehn I stopped caring.

Star Wars episode 3 on the original Xbox. The fight with Count Dooku was so obnoxiously difficult and frankly the work outstretched the reward anyway so I decided to hell with it and decided that if I wanted a hack n' slash there was always Otogi: Myth of Demons... I was content.

Oh there was also Turok but that one I just sort of rented a few times and kept loosing interest in.

I've had many games that I couldn't beat, but mostly due to dodgy controls, rather then because the levels were hard.

Sonic adventure 2 broke me. I just couldn't find out how to get those last couple of A's. Damn you Rouge, kick UP!!! You do it accidentally all the time!... WATCH THE SPINNING SP... Oh, God, no... I can't watch any more!!!

The first gears of war. I just couldn't get past hard.

As a joke, oblivion 4, because I'm one of these people who just has to turn the difficulty up to maximum, and maximum difficulty on Oblivion if frigging hard!!!

Halo 3... legendary... 3rd level...pinned in a building by around 4 waves of brutes and a tank... dead over 25 times... nuff said.

I might have been able to finish Mirror's Edge if I hadn't rented it. But I did, and so I couldn't.

Also, I'm used to playing RPGs, so I can't even beat the demo of F.E.A.R. 2 on Easy. Er. >_>

Mercs 2. I loved the game but the hijacking got too hard and the missions got too hard. Still liked it though. Then there's F.E.A.R. 2. I just get so easily bored when playing it. And (when i was like 10) most of my PS1 games like Chicken Run. Hardest. Stealth Mechanic. Ever. Probably why I don't like stealth games much nowadays.

Use a walkthrough and play on the easiest difficulty. Worked for me.

GTA IV. Not cos it was hard, it was just bad. I got bored a couple hours in and gave up, I have better things to do with my time.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse...Just couldn't get past Bubba...No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't. (That'll lose me a lot of credibility in this community)

Mine is more out of boredom and control annoyance.

Extermination on the PS2. Think of an early Resident Evil clone with more gunfighting and you have a good idea of the game.

I don't remember that level. But yer, to not finish that game is just, sad.

It's like not being able to finish Halo: CE. And they're made with the same game engines.
