Games you know are Awful, but you remember something about them fondly

I'm sure there are plenty of games out there that fit this niche for everyone, but mine would have to be Shadow the Hedgehog. It was the last game my brother and I played together, at least in terms of helping each other look for collectibles and the like. So, yeah. Which games do you remember that are NOT good, but nonetheless hold a fond memory for you?

Jade Empire. I really liked the ideas behind a lot of the game design - who doesn't want to play a game set in steampunk ghost-infested pseudo-China?

Final Fantasy X.

I have absolutely nothing positive to say about that game....

I remember the voice acting making me cringe and some of the cut scenes putting violent thoughts in my head....

Then I remembered I could turn it off and harmony was restored.

Pretty much any Dynasty/Samurai Warriors game. They are so repetitive and the over the top characters are so cringey yet I keep coming back for more. Theres nothing more satisfying than slicing your way through 100's of soldiers with super flashy moves.

Some shitty Superman game i played when i was a kid. I loved that game. I remember the Alcatraz stage, where prisoners were fleeing, and i remember about 8th level i think, you fight some character who is a copy of Superman in a city. I always just ran around the city having fun

Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 I don't know why I keep playing them but I do... maybe I have a thing for pink hair?

Fatal Labyrinth. Yeah I know it's not a lot to look at and the looped soundtrack only changes every 10 floors but I enjoy it. It was always the game I couldn't beat, along with Super Hydlide, so there was always that sense of wondering what happened at the end. I eventually finished it but the latter has remained unbeaten for around 17 years and not for lack of trying either...

Heroes of Might and Magic 4.

It was a mess. It tried to bring too much innovation into the HoMM series. it ended up with balancing issues (one or two properly developed heroes can own any army you throw at them. Adding an army just makes them steamroll over everything) and nonsense (Dreath houses both undead and demons but if you have even a single undead creature in your army along the demons, they all get -2 morale).

But it did some very good ideas. Some I was happy to find in Heroes 5 (alternative upgrades spice up the game, caravans just make things convenient, active creature abilities and creature spellcasters are plain better than all passives).

PC versions of Pregoblet Harry Potter games were always different from the PS2/GC/XBOX versions. As in, different mechanics, design, levels, EVERYTHING. First one was especially crap, yet I remember them all quite fondly as games that defined my childhood. Chamber was quite competent, and Azkaban wasn't half bad, too.

Mean Streets, the first Tex Murphy game. It's pretty terrible but I loved it when I was young and stupid so I'll always remember it fondly.

Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior.

Yeah it's bad, but it introduced me to the Warhammer 40K universe, and by extension...Dawn of War.

Shadow of Rome.

What can I say? I just have so many fun memories of decapitating people left right and centre, whacking enemies over the head with severed arms and finding time amongst the chaos to nibble on some cheese.

Too Human. I remember loving the crap out of that game.
Another one may be Viking: Battle For Asgard. Though I don't think its actually awful when it comes down to it.

Crappy game (graphics and controls) even at the time, didn't stop me from playing the shit out of it when I was a kid. Good times.

It's quite young but Shadows of the Damned.
I don't know why but it had a strange charm, even if the game was meh.

I used to have a StarWars fighting game on the old playstation 1. (do not underestimate the power of the PLAYSTATION!). It was like tekken, but with star wars characters. And it kicked some major ass.

Tomb Raider 4. Because my brother and I would play together for hours. I couldn't figure out the controls because i was really little, but I always saw things my brother missed while he played. Like a handle somewhere. Aaaah, Nostalgia. There are probably tons of games like that
