As of late I have been looking at games that are a little older and/or a little obscure. It may be the "whole stagnation of gaming" thing that everyone keeps talking about but Im actually a man of almost all genres (exceptions being most puzzle games and realistic sports). Little did I expect that when I start describing or showing some of the games I have been playing recently I get confused looks or my friends shaking their heads and saying the games you play. Me describing Sakura Wars-So Long My Love ended in my friend saying "and you bought this why?", Jet Set Radio Future let to my friends and family being confused by the obscure music and graphics, and I was just bought Clock Tower 3 being a huge Survival Horror fan and really enjoying it...then my roommate comes in and says this game looks really boring then asked me if he could play battlefield bc2 (my game as well). So escapeists do any of you feel like this? Any games you like and get confused looks about even from other gamers?

My old roommate could never understand my love of Magic: The Gathering. Then again, I never got his high-caliber addiction to Railroad Tycoon, so we called it a draw.

Does anyone recall the following PS1 games?

Brave Fencer Musashi
Grandia
Wild ARMs 1 + 2
Legend of Mana
SaGa Frontier 1 + 2

Because I love each and every one of those games.

Under the "No one likes" category, I put up Two Worlds. I don't know if this is another console/PC thing, but I found it to be one helluva fun game. Awful generic writing coupled with bad voice-acting added a certain charm, as opposed to Oblivion and Dragon Age which were mediocre but still generic. Plus combat was tremendous fun if horribly broken.

Pretty psyched about the upcoming sequel.

Brave Fencer Musashi and Wild Arms are the ones I have played, and they are awesome.
But who hasn't heard of Legend of Mana? Its amazing! Is it really that under the radar?

OT: NBA Jam. No one knows of it, but it is one of the most enjoyable sports games ever.

BOOMSHAKALAKALAKA!

Also, I highly recommend you check out the other games. Especially Grandia. One of the greatest combat engines in JRPG history. Possibly THE greatest.

And Legend of Mana is my second favorite game of all time. And is 100% unlikely to change. Except to climb to #1, possibly.

I've heard a little bit about Grandia, and I might check it out based on that recommendation.
And yes, Legend of Mana is easily in my top 5 RPGs. So good.

Second sight is a big one. I have seen very few people who actually know of the game, let alone played it. Also, killer7. That would definitely turn the heads of my friends if they saw it...

Lil' Cactus, the way you could combine abilities like Crouch and Jump into High Jump...And later into stuff like Flip Kick. The multiple weapon styles. The build your own world map system. The dynamic questlines based on location on the world map and progress in other story. The Green Wiggly. Catching monsters eggs and spirit coins. Niccolo!

I've tried multiple times, but other gamers my age simply won't give Lost Kingdoms 2 the chance it deserves...
Oh yeah, and Chaos Legion. It had its flaws, but it was an interesting action game, provided that you didn't play on easy mode.

I remember playing the demo of Legend of Dragoon all over the place when it first came out. I've been meaning to get deeper into it for far too long now, but on the rare occasions I meet someone else who's played the game, they've got nothing but good things to say about it.

Advent rising, I loved that game. It had a few bugs but nothing game breaking plus what a story. Orson Scott card wrote the story and they never finished the series because the game bombed because they tried to make an epic block buster on the first try. The game was good it was just a little rough around the edges I hope they finish the series or at least tell us what was supposed to happen.

My sports-management genre games get shelved whenever girlfriends are around because I can explain my gaming habit to them, but when they see me basically playing a spreadsheet (as an aside, it is absolutely uncanny how much Peachtree Accounting resembles the Out of the Park Baseball series in interface and navigation, so maybe the ladies are on to something), I cannot reasonably make the argument that I'm having fun without getting laughed at.
