I think I'm finally just about to beat Baldurs Gate Reloaded (The remake in the NWN engine). Not sure of the total hours being the GOG version, but have been playing it on and off for well over a year now.

RPG's in general actually tend to be the ones that take ages, as they either take huge chunks of my time over a short while, or nibble away at it over months if not years.

Dark Cloud 2. I love the game, the gameplay, the story, the aesthetic, it has that mildly goofy yet atmospheric aesthetic to it that I've loved since Rayman 2 but it... just. Takes. Too. LONG! It has a lot of things you can do in it to improve your weapons or as a diversion from the main game but all of it takes a lot of time to do (And don't get me started on freaking Spheda!). I just can't invest myself into going through it all again despite how much I love it.

161 hours and 2.5 years into Arkham City and I sill haven't done everything I want to do. I have 53 of 64 achievements. I'm currently working my way through the campaigns as Batman, starting with the Extreme ones.

This one took several hours: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNH9l5TxyMQ

Not as easy as the video makes it look.

Finishing those campaigns will get me four more achievements, including "Perfect Knight - Day 2", which entails doing all the side quests, Riddler secrets, New Game Plus and Riddler's Revenge (which includes said campaigns). I already finished all the campaigns as Catwoman over a year ago, which is apparently even harder.

Screw doing those campaigns with Robin and Nightwing, though. This is difficult and time-consuming enough. Well, I'm saying that now, but I didn't plan to get them as Batman, so maybe in several years I'll change my mind.

I wasn't expecting to even play through the AC story when I tried it years ago, but liked it enough to eventually do so plus a few Catwoman missions recently. At one point I contemplated what you're doing because it is a fun game, but such a tall order. It would be a commendable gaming feat.

Xenoblade Chronicles. amazing game that's one of my favourite games of all time but it's biggest problem is also one of the best things about it and that it just takes so long to complete the game and it's story. having so much content is fantastic though

The Witcher 3

The game expects you to be an immortal vampire if you want to finish it. Now, me being a bit of a dummy I downloaded the Blood and Wine expansion, only adding to the trough, but it just looked too darn appealing. So yeah, it's on hiatus again.
I know right! I'm still recovering from my near 300 hour playthrough of the damn thing and I have yet to even touch Blood and Wine.
I find it hard to classify it as a game even, its more of a daily few hour experience one should have for the next 4-5 months to fully finish it. No regrets though, it ended up being one of the very best gaming experiences I've ever had.

Anyway, for me its most probably the Yakuza games. Every iteration I start playing I always reach a point where I look at the map and think "meh, I'm gonna finish this one chop-chop!" because heck, there's not much going on and the game area is small!

*cue 150 hours and only 75% completion later*

On a similar note I just pre-ordered Yakuza 0, super excited to also take forever to finish that one haha!

Mount and Blade: Warband. Those Nords are just hard to beat especially in the late-game where all Lords would go and join their faction. It gets longer when they defect, spawning random enemy castles/towns out of nowhere because you didn't give a single TLC on a lord with high controversy points. War.. war never changes.

Basically ever TES game, but that's to be expected given the massive amount of extra shit you can do.

Also Person 4.
LOVE the game, but took my like a year to beat because...reasons at the time.

Recently, i've found it difficult to commit to playing anything long term. The issue is, my PC is at my parent's house, but I work in a different town and live with a few friends, and then my girlfriend is like, 4 hours away, so I hardly ever find the time to really sink my teeth into anything.

Context over, and now you understand the predicament that I'm in when I say that I decided to get The Witcher 3 and all of its expansions. That game is long. I think im around level 10 right now, and i've been playing it for around a day and a half, and I've not even been to Novigrad yet. I thought I was doing okay, actually, until I read that the Blood and Wine expansion was intended for level thirty-four characters, and apparently lasted around thirty hours, and I realised that I had so much more content to get through, and I probably wouldn't finish the game until, like, April.

No regrets, though. That game is fun.

Darkest Dungeon, given that it will likely take literally forever for me to finish, since I'm probably not going to. The amount of grinding it expects you to do while ramping the difficulty through the fucking roof is just too much. I've got a day job, more entertaining games, Wh40k, and a new gaming PC arriving this week to juggle already, thanks very much.

Shit, seeing the comments about Witcher 3 is rather disheartening, as I was looking forward perhaps the most to playing the whole series on a strong PC. Maybe I should break my legs, then get AIDS and claim sick leave...

I really enjoy the Disgaea games, but by god the grinding is real. Also, the conditions you have to meet to get the secret endings are insane, but at least it's something to do.

I usually play my Grand Strategy games at the slowest speed while sipping a coffee and talking to friends, which means campaigns last freaking forever.

Same here, with 4X games.
Oh, and without the coffee and friends.

Civilization games. They're fun and I enjoy playing them, but 20+ hours to finish a campaign? That's waaay too long! I want to play a bunch of times with different settings and strategies, but it just takes too freaking long.

The half life trilogy? I'm thinking the literal definition of forever here. But then the movies The Italian Job (original) and Eye of the Beholder are the same in a sense, so maybe it's not worth musing upon. Otherwise, I have no idea what hours I'd put into what and have no intention of ever looking into it either. Perhaps a progress/time ratio would be best to utilise, but that seems like far too much effort for a throwaway comment. I highly doubt it'd be impressive enough to warrant mentioning anyway. So here's a happy turtle;

Don't you worry, bruh, he got your back...]

I'm a good 8 months into playing Doom 2016 and haven't beaten it yet.
I was playing Dishonored over the course of a year before I dropped it.

AAA games are too long. More 5-8 hour games, please.

40 hour RPGs? Hahahahahahaha. NO.

I really wanna play Xenoblade again but GOOD GOOGLY MOOGLY that game was so freakin' long.

Especially if you did like me the first time and did a low level run just to have a challenge, and then got blindsided by the final difficulty spike, with no level-appropriate side quests to tackle to level up faster, and had to grind for a few weeks to be able to finish the game. :s

Maybe if I could run my Wii disc of the game on my PC. Otherwise it's too much of a time investment at the moment.
