Burnout: Never showed much interest in racing games but I loved the Burnout series...at least until paradise.

Persona 4 Arena: Generally don't have any interest in fighting game, but I love P4 Arena. Part of which is probably because I'm heavily invested in the characters and the fact that the game's story is considered canon definitely helps.

I'm not usually a fan of FPSs, but I greatly enjoyed the Half Life games, and one of the more recent Wolfenstein games.

I try to play as many games and as many genres as possible but of course I ended up falling back to my few favorites. Anyway, the genres I dislike and games within those that I enjoy...

Realistic War FPS - I like many first person shooters but I play the ones that I play so I can kill aliens, giant bosses, demons from Hell and, red-necks. I don't like games that emulate things I could conceivably be doing if I joined the actual army. I do like this game though:

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Turn-based Strategy - This is a genre I've struggled to get into but have recently given up on. I have a strong dislike of this genre so I won't grab most games to come out for it but then, there are a couple of games that I did enjoy like:

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Real Time Strategy - This is more of a PC genre and I'm a console player. There is one that I used to play and used to enjoy though:

Starcraft

Sports Games - I hate sports games...there isn't a sports game released in the past decade that I bought with one exception: Blitz on the Dreamcast...stupid rose tented glasses...anyway, the sports games that I DO like:

Base Wars
Nascar 98
Punch-Out
Tecmo Super-Bowl
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 -> 4
Tony Hawk's Underground

---

There are some other games that kind of fall between the cracks. I get really bored by 3D Mario games for example and, I can't stand 2D Sonic games. I would have played Shadow the Hedgehog and, Sonic 06 because Sunshine just bored me to tears.

I don't like RTS games very much but I did enjoy Battle for Middle Earth II quite a bit. I liked reenacting scenes from the movies and I loved controlling all of my favourite characters. I guess I don't mind SC2 but I play it only for the custom games.

Racing
Burnout Series: I racing game that focuses on causing crashes? I can do that! While I hated 75% of the game for simply being normal races, I did love the "Cause the biggest wreck possible" events.

Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit: Racing AND Avoiding the police? Driving a police Lamborghini? Awesome. This was great fun when it first came out.

Sports Games
NFL Blitz - All the fun an strategy of a normal football game, but with the added fun of throwing people 10 yards instead of simply tackling them.
NBA Jam
Any NON-REALISTIC sports game

RTS
Command and Conquer - I hated how quickly I got overwhelmed in Starcraft. My early game was near perfect, but once I need to focus on building units as well as MULTIPLE structures I start showing how unskilled I am. C+C you can only build 1 building, 1 infantry, 1 vehicle, 1 plane, and 1 boat as the same time. That I can handle. I'm still not good in multiplayer, but I never was.

Realistic WW1/WW2/Modern Military Shooters
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - There was a reason this was GOTY(Wasn't it?). The standard gameplay you'd expect from a modern war shooter, with just enough variety to keep it fresh. Oh, and the Nuke scene...

MOBA
League of Legends - I hate DOTA, I don't like DOTA 2, and I dislike 90% of games that try to emulate this kind of play. However, I am decent at LoL. Might be that I had some friends to play with, might be that they removed some of the counter intuitive ideas from DOTA (Denying for example, I still can't wrap my head around getting rewarded for killing your own units), but I still enjoy the occasional game (though I only have about 500 under my belt, and I've been playing since Season 1)

The Binding of Issac/FTL/Hotline: Miami - Indie games, made in a 'low' quality, but freaking addictive in everything else. Most indie games I -hate- because of the current 'low graphic/8 bit' cash in, but damn those (and a few others) are addictive.

DoTA 2 - I never wanted to get into it because of the horror stories of the communities, but ive got 161 hours over like 3 months of playing.

Team Fortress 2 - I would include this in its own genre, but I never wanted to get into it because of the overly pretentious attitude of the community. After finding my niche of little custom servers, I love it, even though now I see the community is like 50/50.

Hmm... I guess I'd have to say:
Mortal Kombat- Generally not interested in fighting games, but decided to branch out, was told by Angry Joe it was one of the best fighting games out and, yeah, it's alright.
Minecraft- seeing as one of the most important things to me is story, and I've got the imagination of small penquin which thinks it's a rubber duck, I was pleasantly surprised at this game.
But seriously Creepers, bugger right off.
Capcha: "I'm sorry"
Damn right you are, Suicide Shrubs.

I dislike a majority of Fighting Games due to a few exploits that I've found, but I rather enjoy SkullGirls and the Super Smash Brothers franchise.

I don't like Racing Games but I do quite enjoy Burnout and a few of those item based crazy racers that stemmed from Mario Kart.

Also not a fan of Sports game, despite the fact that everyone nearby probably has a copy of FIFA or Football Manager somewhere. Most of the "simulation" titles also have a few exploits that prevent me from having too much fun, so the crazy sports games like Mario Tennis usually do the trick.

Everything else is fair game! Either neutral or positive.

FPS Far Cry 3, I fell in love with the island basically.

Fighting gamesMortal Kombat, SSB and to a lesser extent Tekken I love that they actually put bucketloads content in the game, I don't understand why the fighting genre refuses to move on from the 90s.

Never been a fan of JRPGs, but I loved Kingdom Hearts II. There were still some elements of the game I didn't care for but I would still rank it as one of my favorite PS2 games.

And The Walking Dead for adventure games/games that are very story-centric.

I generally dislike racing games, but I loved Crash Team Racing. That was a major game in my childhood.

I also dislike sports games, but I do enjoy the Fight Night games. That may be because Fight Night has a bit of an overlap with my absolute favourite genre, the fighting game genre.

I'm not into racing games that much, but I just loved F-Zero GX despite the sharp difficulty curve of Story Mode. The fact that its mechanics are somewhat different than a normal racing game just makes it more fun.

Wow. I knew racing games weren't really The Escapist's thing, but I can't believe how many people seem down on them in this thread.
