Alpha Protocol of course.
I'm also a huge fan of Brink.
I also thought that Doom 3 was decent.

If we're going into underrated games, here's my top 6 (technically games I like that others don't):

1. Titan Quest
[best dungeon crawler I have ever played]

2. Two Worlds II
[A solid RPG that deserves more credit than it gets]

3. Divinity II
[An RPG for people who love RPGs]

4. Section 8
[One of my favorite shooters. You airdrop from space anywhere you want on the map... that's awesome]

5. Pyroblazer
[best racing game I have ever played]

6. Etrian Odyssey
[a hardcore RPG with an old feel to it]

I might make a vid about this...

Halo 3: ODST, it was my favorite game in the series
Final Fantasy XIII, linearity didn't bother me, the story and the gameplay were good
Prince of Persia (the 2008 remake) I dunno... I just had fun with it.

Final Fantasy XIII because I really enjoyed the characters and watching them grow and continue on despite the hopelessness of the situation. Easily in my top 5 Final Fantasy games if not the top 3.

Final Fantasy VIII because I was able to really connect with Squall. I also enjoyed how they tried to change up the system and I really enjoyed it(people who say it's a pain in the ass never learned how to break down items into magic). Plus having both the story and the Squall is Dead theory make it a really good game to look at from different angles.

Pretty much any Digimon game is also a ton of fun for me. A lot of people write off Digimon as boring or a Pokemon rip-off, but I feel they are better to play than the Pokemon games. Especially World 1 and the new Re:Digitize(even though having to use a translation guide is a pain in the ass the game is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD), where they brought back the nostalgia and fun of the V-Pets with an RPG attached to it.

I have only met one other person who enjoys Dynasty Warriors.
Which is a shame, because in my (not so) humble opinion, Dynasty Warriors is fucking awesome.
Clearly, you've not been meeting the right people. :D

I'll admit that a lot could be added to it, but to be honest those ideas are just things that I'd enjoy, rather than would sell.

I loved Napoleon total war. Not too sure why the total war community hates it so much, since I found it very similar to Empire. The only changes I could see were flute marches and more realistic artillery along with a smaller campain map.

I liked how it kind of tied in with the lore (the whole para-magic thing), although explaining what 'junctioning a GF' actually is in lifelike terms would be fraught with problems.

After watching Spoony's 'review' of FF8 I certainly was made aware of the gaping plotholes that do exist in the game, it doesn't change anything for me, cuz I loved it, but if it was ever remade I'd like to see at least an attempt to make excuses for the plotholes in writing.

I hear a lot of complaints about Squall being 'whiny' as a protagonist. He's 17, fairly antisocial and essentially an orphan; can't see how he could be any other way.

I fell in love with all aspects of it really, still do, nostalgia or no; the art direction and soundtrack was a huge part of it, I can't listen to 'Blue Fields' without experiencing a Proustian memory rush right back there :D

I loved the first Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game, and both [PROTOTYPE] games..

The Force Unleashed 1 was really goof though.

The part when they kiss and he freefalls into the Death Star is so fucking badass.

I'd say alpha protocol, but i'm not really convinced that most people dislike the game, so I'll Have to go with Clive Barker's Jericho (a game that I fully admit is bad, but that I somehow have tons of fun with and I can't explain why)

I actually liked the newest Alone in the Dark game. Kind of.
It had so many awful moments, and Sarah Flores is the epitome of awful characters, but there were so many good ideas in it that could've made for an absolutely amazing game if they had just been tested and tweaked a little bit more harshly. It also has what is, in my opinion, one of the best scores I've ever heard in a game.
I actually enjoyed the parts where I was freely roaming Central Park, avoiding the ridiculously named enemies (who thought that "Humanz" was a good name?) and hunting for the giant evil floor-penises. The story could have used a little bit of tweaking, preferrably with some sort of Anti-Sarah tool, but I actually liked Theophile and Edward. Then again, I probably wouldn't have liked Edward nearly as much if I hadn't played the first 3 games. He's always been a very abrasive and ill-tempered character, which is why I didn't really mind his profanity-laden remarks.
Think of it like eating a bag of slightly burned popcorn: You might get a bad taste in your mouth from all of the disgusting burnt pieces, but it's the delicious, unscathed, buttery pieces that keep you eating.

I look forward to the continued adventures of Captain Pyromania, especially since Sarah is officially dead in BOTH endings.

Wha... how... I... what's happening? A positive thread that isn't throwing around superlatives and citing Metacritic? What parallel universe have I fallen into? Quick, somebody pull me back!

OT: Final Fantasy XII (Please note: XII, not XIII. People confuse them a lot because of the one I.)
Dragon Age 2
Prototype & Sequel
Darksiders (& I don't think the sequel has been out long enough to make a proper assessment, but nobody around here has been talking about it.)
Sonic games. Even people who haven't cared about Sonic for years will say that Generations is a pretty damn good game, and yet it still gets overlooked just based on the fact that it's a Sonic game.

The Megaman Battle Network series.

Yes, the story got pretty stupid, but I really enjoyed the combat system.

It's a shame nobody's copied it (the combat, that is).

You might as well just turn this into the Alpha Protocol thread now. My answer is also Alpha Protocol. Tremendous potential in that game. It didn't quite come together, but on the few occasions it did it was pretty special.
Well, seeing as my response was going to be Alpha Protocol... I agree with this.

Wish someone grew the balls to try making a sequal.

*Edit*

Also, Brink.

I thought it was a fun game. It wasnt perfect, but it tried to use free-running in a competitive (or atleast intended to be) game[footnote][sub]Yes, Mirror's Edge did it first, but as I didnt particular like Mirror's Edge, Im ignoring it for Brink, which I felt worked better.[/sub][/footnote]. I wish it was recieved better. But, im not holding out for Brink 2 anytime soon...

I'll never understand why those games receive so much hate
Presumably because the story was just slightly above the level of bad fan fiction as far as quality goes. I did like the gameplay though, except for the first person missile thing, and even that wasn't a terrible mechanic except when it came to fast paced boss fights.

I still insist that this game had great potential. I was never able to get all the way through it, but I was genuinely interested in the story as far as I did get. It's just a shame that the controls for the support characters were so broken, among other problems. I was esp. interested in that Mephalis character and I still kinda hope they'll do more with him in the future.

And yes I know about the furry smooch and the time paradox.

Dragon Age 2 - I'm among the few fans that actually agreed with critical review scores.

Metroid Other M - While not my ideal portrayal of Samus by any means, I thought the game was pretty amazing. Deserving of the Metroid name even though it's not as good as the Prime series.

Final Fantasy 12 - I'd put this one among my top 5 FF games of all time personally. Surprisingly people seem to hate this one.

Final Fantasy 13 - TONS of people loathe this game. I completely understand why. Frankly, I have no problems playing a linear story driven game so long as the gameplay is fun. Gameplay is where FF13 excelled IMO.

Nice to see that I'm not the only one who thought Final Fantasy X-2 was pretty darn decent. If you don't think of it as a sequel to X, it's a much better experience. Actually it was also my first Final Fantasy game, which might be part of why I don't have a problem with it despite getting X sometime afterwards, and I've adored all the Final Fantasy games I've played since (except VIII, I can take or leave VIII really). The ridiculous parts really aren't much different from the quirks in other Final Fantasy games if you think about it, just that they have a "girly" spin, I suppose you could say. I haven't played X-2 since I got my PS3, but I know I loved it for a long time and I'm sure I'd still have a blast playing it if I busted it out again. The theme is fucking gorgeous, too.

I'll mention that I particularly love Final Fantasy VII and IX as well, since I know the Final Fantasy series gets a lot of shit from non-fans. Heck, Final Fantasy games get a lot of shit even from its fans because of people arguing over which game is the best.

I also enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog when I first bought it. I guess it's not any more hated than most other 3D Sonic games, in fact you don't even hear much about it which is understandable enough, but I've always been a little ashamed of my fondness for it. Its attempts at badassery are comical, yet I'm drawn to that in much the same manner that I'm drawn to teenage angst-flavoured hard rock/metal bands at times.

Syndicate (The FPS reboot; Couldn't give a flying shit about the original games)
Singularity (Just a really solid game)
Crysis 2 (Hated among Crysis 1 fans)
F.E.A.R. 3 (Just because it's not that scary doesn't make it a bad game)
Dead Island (A lot of people seem to hate it because it wasn't just like the trailer)
