Lots of RTS games. I'm traditional C&C at heart, and Blizzard RTS I just can't get the hang of, especially WCIII which is very micro-intensive.

I'd say games like Metal Slug... any of those super difficult run and gun platformers that was designed to suck quarters out of you or make sure you couldn't beat it in a single rental.

I do enjoy them but I'll be damned if I can even get to the end of the first level without using most of my lives.

Side-scrolling Brawlers like Golden Axe and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World count as well.

I used to be good at RTS'es back in the day (SC1, WC2) then I stopped playing for a while. Getting back on the horse isn't as easy these days. I can't play most modern RTS games too long because they rip me new ones every go-round.
Love them still but the romance is definitely worn thin when I remember being better at these types of games.

Hmm...can we refine "suck at"?
'cause when I suck at a game, I die alot. And when I die alot, I rage quit and don't come back. I can't imagine enjoying failing at a game, especially ones like...Pokemon or Dragon Age's where you have to win to continue.

Starcraft II for me. I don't play it as much as I used to, but I never got over silver league in either 1v1 or coop with friends (save for a brief stint in gold shortly after the original game's release, probably owing to having played the beta a bit).

I like to think that I was pretty good at Warcraft III and being so terrible at Starcraft II annoys me somewhat. Of course they're fundamentally different games but still.

I am just good enough at Tower Defense games not to fail immediately, but I never seem to have the skill necessary to get through them entirely. I have always prided myself on long-term planning, as I grew up on RTS games and kicking some serious ass against other players by out-planning/out-smarting them.

But then Warcraft III came out, and through BNet, Wintermaul was born. I fell in love with this custom game, and along with LoaP, this was one of the games I played the most. But as much as I loved Wintermaul, I only ever really had about a 10% success-rate. With later iterations that involved sending waves against players looking to fill your spawn and overwhelm your team, my success-rate dropped to around 6-8%.

And that has been my story with other TD games, too. Hell; even the Steamworld TD on the 3DS gives me trouble, and that is simpler/easier than Plants vs. Zombies. Not sure if I have some sort of mental-block when it comes to TD end-games, but I still love them to death, and regularly play them.
