Bought a copy of MMA for one pound fifty second hand. Don't know why but I found it strangely compelling (and also unnervingly homoerotic, but that's another story...) even though I would never normally touch a WWF or boxing game.

Does SSX count as a sports game?
Lots of people counting it as a sports game, but I'd put it (with things like Skate) into the "Trick" category. It's far closer to a racing game that to FIFA/Madden. I love "Trick" games, though there aren't enough of them on the market to keep me happy. (I bought Shaun White's Snowboarding today for 2 pounds, even though I'm sure I'll be disappointed by it)

(Somehow the overwhelming message of this post has become that I'm a skinflint)

Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The original version, not the revamp. Before it I didn't care one whit about racing games, it made me at least somewhat interested in them. That's still the only one I've played to completion, however.

Dragon age and oblivion ( and to a lesser extent skyrim). I usually hate wrpgs. But those games gave me hope.

Also , alpha protocol . I usually can't stand 3rd perso shooters( with stealth) but i absolutely love that game.

Well I don't really hate sports games but when playing Fifa with friends and family I realized they can be a lot of fun. Fun is what I call slide-tackling everyone. Everyone.

Sports games have always been at the very bottom of my list, but Burnout Paradise was quite fun during the short time I played it(when it was temporarily free after the PSN hack) and I also loved Tony Hawk Underground when I was younger. Must've played through that game at least twenty times.

Thought I'd never like a racing game. Bought Forza 4 and played the heck out of it.

Thought I'd never like a grand strategy game. Bought Hearts of Iron III and didn't like it (it was as dry as astronaut crackers), but tried the Europa Universalis IV demo and I am definitely considering a purchase.

Thought I'd never like a 4X game. Bought Civilization V and invested over 500 hours into it. Damn I might just go play some now.

Thought I'd never like a top-down arcade shooter but I bought Hotline Miami and I beat it thrice and am now a complete fanboy.

Thought I'd never like a game released more than 12 years ago but I picked up Diablo 2 and beat it twice with two characters. Awesome.

And most recently, I thought I'd never get into a trading card game. I looked up Magic: The Gathering after hearing Day[9] talk about it and I'm now probably going to build a deck and find some local players. XD

I don't hate sports games, I just don't tend to play them. I do, however, still love NHL '93 on the Mega Drive. I always play it as violently as possible =D

Also, I'm not too keen on the MMS-style shooter but I liked Killzone 2 for some reason. Also Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.
Haha violent sports games... Fifa 1993 was mine as a child.

"What do you mean red card?! I got the ball! Who cares if I full speed slide tackle his legs from the back?!"

OT: Recently I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream. It's a point and click adventure game and ye gods I hate those things. It's about a god machine tormenting five people eternally because it has literally nothing else to do. That could not be more up my fucking alley. Plus the puzzles aren't completely retarded, maybe even logical to a degree.

The title actually refers to him, he owns the planet (or what's left of it) is super intelligent and all that good stuff. Yet he is still at his heart a fuckload of servers so he can't *use* his godliness really. Hence the title

I don't care much for RPG's but I liked Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magic Obscura & Valkyria Chronicles. Maybe I'm a sucker for steampunk, or VC's strategy elements kick in. Both are wonderful & charming games, and you should really grab copies.

Paper Mario and Paper Mario 2 are two of my favorite games ever, despite never having had the desire to touch any other jrpg in the universe. I don't even like rpgs in general.

I also played the crap out of Arnold Palmer Golf for the Sega Genesis as a kid, though I don't care for golf or sports games in general. It just showed up at my house one day, i think its previous owner was a friend of my dad's who died.

Last one is Altered Beast, even though I am terribly bored by side-scrolling button mashing fighting games or whatever that is, though te Simpsons one was okay. I see it more as a performance, to be played like a fine Beethoven piano sonata.
