Loved Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.

Thought I'd go back the original CRPGs, expecting something amazing.

I was rather disappointed.

The games haven't aged well at all, gameplay wise, I just couldn't make myself play through such dated mechanics, no matter how good the RPG aspects may be.
How were the mechanics dated? I really enjoy New Vegas...

Quantum Conundrum was built up far too much by high hoping Portal fans, that one was a disappointment.

Oh god, it's got this terrible turn based combat and actions are based on a points system, makes combat really slow.

The interface is a friggin' nightmare too.

I can get over the dated visuals, but the game is just no fun to play.

Skyrim.

I absolutely adored Oblivion since the first time I played it all the way up until Skyrim came out, but somehow Skyrim was incredibly disappointing.

...I just don't use the VATS system, I'm used to playing FPS games so I just shoot things up that way.

The interface is annoying at times, but it didn't really stop me from playing. <__<

Fallout 3
The Witcher Enhanced edition
Zelda Skyward Sword
Fable / Fable 2
Mario Galaxy
Neverwinter Nights 2
Final Fantasy 7

Quite a few now that I think about it.
I should note that those games listed above are not bad games.
They just disappoint. In that I either didn't complete them or really forced myself to play through to the end.

I liked Baldur's Gate, loved Mass Effect and KOTOR, but Dragon Age just bores me. I think it's because of the overly long combat sequences, as the combat is just dull. I could forgive that similar dull combat in KOTOR because even if it is mechanically poor, it just feels awesome to force choke people and kill entire fields of enemies instantly with force-powered lightning storms. In Baldur's gate it's poor mechanically, uninspired visually, and completely unexciting to boot.

Since someone's already said that though, I'll also say Fate/stay night, which I actually have open in another window right now. I've been playing and enjoying a lot of visual novels since I got into them recently, and this game is often touted as the best (or at least one of the best). I even liked the predecessor, but something about this one just puts me off. I'm going to finish it, I've put too much time and effort into it to not do so, but god-damn it almost feels like work at this point.

I think the problem might be the main character, since he's both an asshole and an idiot, and I just don't care about what happens to him at all. What's worse is, all of the characters (and even the game itself) seem to think he's awesome, and that we should all aspire to be like him. Something about that pisses me off, and it's compounded by the fact that the game is so long (and he's in practically every scene, being the main character and all).

Ugh... Now that I've finished typing that up I have to actually continue playing it, I guess. I'm on to the 3rd and final route, so I can't be too far from the end at least.

Every Bioware game after Mass Effect 2. They've started sacrificing gameplay to writing, and while it CAN work, I honestly think that most of the best writers are long gone from the studio.

Another case is Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, I still dig the combat, but the sheer amount of inventory tetris and the crappy interface killed my desire to keep playing about halfway through the campaign.

and lastly:

Kingdoms of Amalur. An RPG in a fantasy setting with fairly solid gameplay. Should be right up my alley but the game just puts me to fucking sleep.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

I love RPG's, particularly Japanese RPG's. Absolutely cannot stand Star Ocean. Every time I try play it it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I go and play some Dragon Quest VIII again.

Arkham Goddamn Asylum/City. It's an open world BATMAN game that lets you do pretty much everything Batman does. But for whatever reason...I just can't get into it. I think the writing gets to me. I don't know. Maybe I'll try it again sometime.

Kingdom Hearts. I love me a story-driven game, especially ones that focus on characters, and I don't even mind the whole power of friendship thing. If I like the characters I sometimes even enjoy it. Sort of. And the games have the sort of soundtrack that gets down on its knees and tearfully beg me to play them. But it's just the combat system and the whole Disney thing.
I really want to like it. I think if I could get used to the Disney stuff and endure that battle system I could end up loving it, but I can't.
[small]Plus my friend made me play the second one before the first one which didn't help. ¬_¬[/small]

You're aware Daystar is saying he loved 3 and New Vegas and that it's the originals he can't get into?

OT: Battlefield games from Bad Company onwards. Modern shooter with destructible environments? FUCK YEAH
...too bad the gunplay is utter shit.
It has dawned on me about now...that's what I get for skimming when I read. >_<

Battlefield 3. Loved Bad Company 2 but 3 just bores me. The most reasonable explanation I can think of is the maps. This wouldn't be as much of a problem on PC with 64-player servers, but on console, they are waaaaaaay too big. I can barely play a single match without falling asleep.

Paper Mario was loads of fun, and I still play it today; Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was also pretty good, and even made some improvements on the previous game's mechanics, but Super Paper Mario was just too many steps in the wrong direction for me.

Psychonauts. I LOVE Platformers. I LOVE humor. Portal 2 and The Jak series are some of my favourite games ever. But I just can't get into Psychonauts. I think it's either where my PC is located, or the fact that I'm using a keyboard. When my new mini PC arrives I'll put it in my gaming room and buy a Gamepad but until then I just can't touch it.

For me, the first two Fallout games... I tried playing Fallout 2 once and just couldn't get into the system.

I'd also say that the Witcher series will never ever draw me. I tried playing the first game and hated the combat system with a terrific passion.
