Like the topic says, I'm looking for some "sleeper hits", the kinds of games you couldn't let go of, but you get the impression that not enough people got to play them due to lack of advertising, etc.

I'd say the obvious answer is Okami, so I'll add Odin Sphere. A 2d Hack n' Slash that transcended so many genres than the example I gave. Not to mention that it's pure art in motion, and the art style makes for a game that's aged very well compared to other PS2 titles.

Anyone have some titles they'd like to mention to let the world know they might have missed out?

Mirror's Edge got way too much undeserved hate. Tenchu games are among my favorites and they are far from popular in the U.S. And then there's the disciples series. I always preferred it to the grid-combat tbs games like homm3 but most people disagree.

Banjo-Kazooie Nuts N' Bolts. Original vehicular platformer, each mission a puzzle in true Banjo SPIRIT. Just because it wasn't a carbon copy of an out-dated genre, doesn't mean it needed to be so very hated

Ghost Trick on the DS. Utterly fantastic game that sold less than 300k copies. Anyone who hasn't already played it and has a DS, go get it. Like, right now. It deserves so much more than it got.

love the hyperbole

it should have been an new IP...god...could you just imagine the large open-ended world awsomeness with the tech availible with the xbox?

instead we got...vechelces...(the one thing I really don't care for in games)

does that automatically make it a bad game? no, but it does make you wonder what the fuck they were thinking, yeah

But that game got plenty of attention.
Not positive, and surely didn't get sales.

I thought the game was really well-loved. And that's all that matters! Sales mean nothing!
But everyone hated it....

He's not talking about sales in terms of money, he's talking about it in the sense that not enough people got the opportunity to play some games.

OT: Vanquish. Great TPS that didn't receive enough love IMO

No I didn't! And the Metacritic score is 79!
Yeah and FF13 has a Metacritic score of 83, but most people now agree it's shit, The Metacritic score doesn't mean all that much.

That, I wouldn't know about.
Well it's true [http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/final-fantasy-xiii]. Like I said Metacritic doesn't mean much.

ah yeah, vanquish is definitely one that slid under the radar for most people.

honestly with just the slightest bit more polish and maybe depth, and that game could've really shined I think. (still loved it of course.)

OT: well, I know alot of people around here had problems with it/didn't like some of the mechanics, but I'll always say alpha protocol (besides online, haven't met/know a single person who has heard of it, let alone heard of obsidian. The game flew right under the radar as far as advertisements went.)

Granted I didn't have any of the glitches that some people seemed to get, but I really liked the modern setting and how branching the story was, not to mention your decisions actually mattered in the long term of it all. also, some people didn't like the time mechanic for the dialogue system, while I definitely don't want it in every game, far from it, for a first try I think it did alright, having huge paragraphs wouldn't have worked with the timing part of it, so the part of "couldn't tell what each response would be" was a domino to that mechanic, in which I think it made you think on your feet/give out what comes to mind first, rather than think it out and give the best response.

not to mention this awesome cheesy boss battle:

I haven't heard much about Destroy All Humans, which was an AWESOME game!

Seriously, you played as an alien in the 1950's, zapping civvies left and right...

Pandemic, you died too soon :'(
