timeshift. i think timeshift was a really good game that just did not get enough press. it has potential to be really good, if the story could be fleshed out some more i think it would be teh awesomewinzortasticness.

I only checked the first page but

Psychonauts, Psychonauts, Psychonauts. Sure it's gathered a huge cult following now.
But had it done well, Brütal Legend would've been more polished and an overall better game, whereas now the gameplay is pretty flawed. Double fine maybe could've made another AAA-title instead of downloadables.(not that I dislike the concept it's just on a smaller scale)
And of course the most important. There would've probably been Psychonauts 2 now

and by God I want it. I want it freaking NOW.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.
Amazing game, amazing setting yet it didn't sell enough and even led to the developers bankrupting.

Valkyria Chronicles. I know that it spiked in popularity after it was released (enough to warrant sequels on the PSP of all things) but it got no-where near the acclaim it deserved. An original, thoughtful game, definitely one of the better PS3 exclusives.

Alan Wake, Although I hear it did sell a lot more than people thought, but I love that thing so much it could use more.

I don't think enough people got into de Blob. That game and its sequel rule all over the place.

There's also not enough love for Little King's Story, at least not that I've seen. Now we're getting a Vita remake that swaps out the unique water-colour storybook/chalkboard artwork for a generic manga look. Yay?

Another classic example of this is Zack and Wiki. Fantastic adventure-game style puzzles but without tedious inventory management. Heck, there was even a "buy this game" campaign from IGN... But it didn't take off.

The game is flawed, sure, but the problem isn't the gameplay. It's the fact that the gameplay is awfully explained and people are led to play it in exactly the wrong way.

Demon's Souls/Dark Souls deserved as much sales and attention as any Elder Scrolls game.
MediEvil is a highly under-appreciated PlayStation franchise.
Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic is one of the funnest couch co-op games of this generation.

Okami, Odin Sphere, Primal, Beyond Good and Evil, Mirror's Edge to name a few. However, Okami and Beyond Good and Evil have both gained popularity and become 'cult hits' whereas the other three I mentioned have either had negative reviews or are pretty much unheard of [I love Odin Sphere <3 and Primal <3)

Gregory's Horror Show - if you love quirky humor, wish Resident Evil is good, and want a tension-induced mental-mindfuck, you can get this game for about $8-14. Also, it's based on a really funny anime involving 2-protagonists trapped in a haunted hotel, who both slowly graduate into insanity. Inspite that description, it's really funny sometimes. And disturbing.
I have a list on paper of great recommendations from you lovely folks, and this was a definite addition...until I saw that there was no US release. Ugh. This puts me in the mood to second the displeasure of not having our missing Phoenix Wright games.
You can still get the anime on some sites. That's pretty good, but it's quite hard to come across. I just watched the fourth season, and that, by far, has to the creepiest.
