Final Fantasy VIII. It's my favourite game and the first Final Fantasy I ever played so it's always gonna hold sentimental value for me. I don't think there's anything I don't like about it. It's been called the worst game in the series at times but I thought X, XII and the abomination of X-2 were worse (the only reason I played X-2 was to continue the story; I have a thing about having to find out what happens).

The King Kong game. (Yes, the one for the movie)
I don't know whether anyone hates it so much as nobody will even give it a chance because it's a game of a movie.
But there is nothing more unbelievably satisfying as lighting a spear on fire and plunging it through the skull of a raptor while it tries to maul you to death. FUCK. YES.

Sure, you have guns. But what fun are they when you have SPEARS!

Advent rising was like Mass Effect, but better in some ways in my opinion. Worse to, to be fair, but it got a lot of things right. The main problem it had was horrible, horrible glitchyness that makes New Vegas bugs look fairly minor. There's also Prey and Doom 3 (including expansion pack), both of which were interesting games to me. Other then that... I dunno, Halo Wars? But that's because I'm not a big RTS player overall.

I kinda liked Wet. I wouldn't say it was my favourite game ever, but I don't condemn it like most people.

It's not so much hate, but general gaming apathy towards the Shining Series for me - I love those games

I loved that game, played through it so many times.
Yet so many people seem to despise it.
I don't think that many people despise it, the game sold well and got good reviews. I think, the people you know who despise it are just a loud minority.
hmm, guess so

A lot of people hated on Mirror's Edge for various reasons. Most people would give middling ratings, however I thought it was one of the best games I've ever played: I love the subtle background storytelling, the ominous presence of Mayor Callaghan, whom many of you probably didn't even notice, and ways that the media twist everything Faith does to seem unimportant or evil.

Most games by Vanillaware, such as Odin Sphere, Muramasa: Demon Blade, and Grim Grimoire. They all do have flaws in some way. They tend to lack variety. Still, I'm a bit of a sucker for the music and the artwork.

I also like Oblivion for as long as I can keep up the illusion that my accomplishments are amounting to anything in the game. After that, I need to play something else until I forget that fact again. That tends to be the issue with having enemies grow stronger every time you level up.
