I used to watch my brothers play Diablo 2 a lot, then there was what I imagine 90% of the kids of my generation have played: Pokemon blue red or yellow.

What did I love as a kid? Well, I think some would depend on what part of my childhood, but Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Kirby Superstar, and Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES are the games the I remember the most fondly.

Super Mario Brothers 3, Contra and Sonic. I still like playing them now.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time played on my brand spanking new Nintendo 64.
This. And I got the special edition green n64 that came with the DK 64 game. That was a great Christmas.

And Pokemon blue. Because blue version kicked red versions ass.

The Pokemon games and Crash Bandicoot.

As I got older, I began to notice that Crash Bandicoot got steadily worse in every sequel, though.

Except for Crash Team Racing. Now that was a fun game.

The first game I ever owned and played was Super Mario World for SNES and gaming has consumed a considerable chunk of my life since then.

Need for Speed 3-7. I played them all, and owned four of them, before my teenage years. I now hold NFS3 as the standard for video game soundtracks.
