So what games has everyone played and loved but could not get through it a second time?

For me it would have to be dragon age origins. I absolutely loved the game and spent almost all my free time playing through it till completion. I then had the urge to roll a mage and did. I played about 5 hours on the mage and just got bored with the game as I knew what was happening and for some reason it didn't enthrall me the same way.

Assassin's Creed 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum, partly because I could trade them in for almost full value but mostly because I didn't have an incentive for starting again as I had all the trophies and had completed Batman on Hard.

It loses much much much of its appeal the second time around.
I agree with this... NOT.

I felt that a second playthrough, while not as shocking storywise, was still great fun, since you discovered more things you hadn't seen before, and you played with more control.

No, what I choose for this is Oblivion. I only played it on one single save, nothing more.

I played the hell out of it, but only on one save.

It was Fable for me. I actually really loved Fable but on the second playthrough I just got tired of it and haven't played it since.

Darksiders, it was a great game and War was just an awesome character (come on, he had a massive sword, looked like a DK, has a flaming steed, could control time AND had a portal gun. Thats like, every epic thing put in a game since ever) but I dont think I'll ever play it a second time. It was worth the overdue fees to rent it and finish it though.

Lol im actually playing through it right now and figure im gonna rack up 2 or 3 days of late fees on this one but it was definitely worth the rental but not the buy. I actually like this game even more than the God of War games because I like all the stuff you listed plus the combat is just more simple and straightforward. God of War is great, but this game was surprisingly awesome and definitely a lot of fun.

The Legend of Zelda: twilight princess.

Or, at least, I thought I could only play once, as I traded it in(I'm a dumbass, it was the gamecube version) and now i want to play it again.

gah!

I usually replay games eventually, even if it's years later.

Fear Effect 1 & 2 was like this for me. They were fun, and very cinematic, but once I completed them, I didn't play them again. Like them quite a bit though.

Any more, I only play through the Ratchet & Clanks once.

Drake's Fortune. Fun, very story driven, but probably won't play it again.

Eternal Darkness;Sanity's requiem.

One of my favourite games, but it has almost zero replay-value. A common problem with horrorgames. It's just not that scary the second time around.

I'd have to say Batman: Arkham Asylum as well. My favourite part of it was the story, and on the second play through I knew what was coming, so it lost much of its initial impact.

I loved Trauma Center but could only play it once (probably because I got in trouble for swearing at the tv for hours)It was an awesome game but hard as hell on the difficult setting.

Bioshock was that way for me. Once was enough. Great story, worth playing, but again?...I don't think so.

I started out listing games that I'd played and didn't want to re-play. Then I remembered the question is only asking about games I LOVED but didn't want to play again. Oh.

*deletes list*

Um...hm. That's harder given that I don't really feel THAT strongly about many games. Uh. ... I guess Portal? It was a fun game but I didn't see much point in playing through puzzles I'd already figured out again (until recently to get the radio achievement that hadn't existed previously).

Other than that...yeah, nothing comes to mind. Part of what makes me "love" a game is its replayability, so Games I Love and Games I Can Only Play Once tend to be mutually exclusive categories.

It'd have to be Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

I loved that game to bits, in fact I could have just lost myself in that game. But after a week, I had to give it back to my buddy, Shambles.

I don't play many games twice. To me to do that I'll need to either love the game to no end, or be very bored. Dragon Age: Origins was a game I love to no end, but I haven't finished my second play-through. Mainly because I'm in the Dwarf place, which I really dislike.

The 7th Guest.

Loved the hell out of it, but since it's the same thing every time, didn't see a point to go through it again.
