Well I've been hated for playing Project Diva for some reason. Probably because of the name of the game they think its some dating sim...?
I dunno.
They're probably just angry that Dreamy Theater 2nd hasn't been released yet.

OT: I don't think I've ever been "hated" for liking a game, but a friend thought Disgaea would suck because it "looked mangaish". Still not sure what that means.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I hate movie games but something made me pick this one up regardless and I loved it. The single player was terrible but it had the best multiplayer of any game I had ever played. It was so fast paced and perfectly balanced. I was even number 1 on the leaderboards for a while. But all my friends hated me for playing it so much, couldn't understand why I would be so into a movie game, and never bothered to try it out.

A few years ago, I was bitched at for playing Sonic 2006. I sold it ages ago, though, but people could just shut up.

My friend recently started brown nosing black ops unnecessarily, for popularity, and yet bitches about the campaign. They're a group of "gawd, only multiplayer is funnnn!" types. I played through the campaign so I could unlock "five" for us, and absolutely loved it.
Your friends would hate me I dont really like multiplayer I like a solid single player :3

Red Dead Redemption. The twits at my school are the type of idiots that hate anything that isn't a call of duty shooter; they couldn't take the freeroaming aspect of it, it crushed their narrow little minds. I may sound a bit pretentious, but these guys have no appreciation for gaming as an art medium, and wouldn't know the difference between static death animation and ragdoll physics if you asked them, never mind graphics engines. They hated Borderlands simply because "It looked all weird and everything has an outline and stuff, it's SO glitched."

They though that Borderland's cartoonish art style was a glitch. It just infuriates me how ignorant they are. This is what happens to people who are exposed only to Call of Duty.

I've been hated for playing Minecraft. The person then bought Minecraft and now loves it. I won.

I get hated on by some Tales fans for saying that Legendia wasn't an abomination.

On a material plane: no. Usually me and my friends enjoy similar games.

On the Internet: Hate? No that never happened to me, but I did get some funny looks (well... not exactly, this is the Internet, but you know what I mean), when I said I beat Alpha Protocol four times and liked it more than ME2.

People told me I was gay for playing Robot Unicorn Attack.

They just jelly because they can't pass 100000 points.
100k.. >.> damn, you're a machine, I can't even get close that.

I get hassled for playing minecraft by one of my friends. I don't know why.. it's kind of fun actually despite the crappy graphics (would be nice if there were some mods or expansions for it though).

Postal 2. Granted, one really weird girl I was friends with was obsessed with the game - but most people were bothered by the catharsis, others mostly thought I had bad taste since the game itself ain't all that great. It's also not the best game to mention in social meetings, probably because it's one of the few games that pushes the idea of "Go apeshit, murder lots of people." Granted - that's why I play it when I get the urge to punch others in the face, but it still isn't proper to go into public and talk about your weird serial killer habits that you developed in a Postal 2 playthrough, as wacky as said habits can be - probably my largest and most enjoyable serial habit in that game is probably the "Cat Master," where I unleash my horde of dervish cats to mutilate random pedestrians who annoy me and then wander inexplicably into a home, dark alley, or one of the games many weird empty spaces that have no reason to exist.

My friends used to tease me about how 'bad' TLOZ Wind Waker looked.

I thought the style was perfect for the type of story it was portraying. They've grown up a bit since then, thankfully.
Thats just a shame. I think that game has some of the best atmospheric graphics of any game I have played.

I dunno if I'd go so far as to the "hate" but I get some odd looks for being a gamer chick to start with. I guess to build on that, there are some of my gaming loves I get it over.

I Do Not give a hoot about-
HALO- ANY of 'em
Legend of Zelda- Anything after about, oh... Link to the Past
Final Fantasy 7 and on
Splinter Cell- Any of 'em
Call of Duty- Any of 'em

I Enjoy Dramatically-
Bioshock 1+2 (Yes, 2. I frakking loved it!)
Castlevania games(Anything except that ridiculous new one, UGH. Death to all reboots!)
Splatterhouse (except this one...I love this reboot enough to fuck it.)
Disgaea, all of them.

Oh, and just to add, I don't dislike FPS's as a rule. Some of my favorites were Shadow Warrior, Blood and again, Bioshock. I just can't get over how un-fun the whole "Ultra-realistic" garbage is in most FPS's these days. Just gimme a thick-jawed bad-ass with WAY too many guns to carry, preferably a chainsaw and at least one or two shotguns, and a mess of weird monster-people to waste and I'm right as rain.

I often get weird looks when I say that I'm pretty much addicted to playing Bayonetta while I'm a girl.

I loved, loved, loved Super Mario Sunshine.
Yes, some levels were awful, and others were controller-breakingly frustrating, but I loved that game more than Super Mario 64.
And every SINGLE person I talk to hates it.
It's like SMS killed everybody's families or something...

Hey I had the exact same conversation with another kid at my school, I was honestly shocked when he said that Red Dead sucked because 'It took like 2 weeks to complete!' I mean why would he buy it in the first place if he has such a short attention span? Of course, he is the type that only plays COD.

Also, another kid started bitching to me when i said I was excited for Halo Reach, which according to him sucks because 'Halo is soooooo unrealistic'
Why do these people play video games at all??

I wouldn't say 'hated' but I didn't exactly get cheers when I said I had bought Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. They consider it not worth buying, since there's only a single player campaign, and nothing to do after, like a multiplayer.
I almost didn't buy this game because of all the reviews saying basically "If you like a great story go for it, but if your looking for gameplay, not so much."

I couldn't disagree more. In the first hour I got to do something I've always wanted to do but couldn't yet in a video game. It was quite a good tutorial that sort of forgot to introduce itself. I.E. The best type of tutorial! The story is every bit as good as everyone seemed to agree, and I don't mind the being ordered around by Trip part because 1. you get to order her around more than she does you and 2. You get a bit of digital catharsis by launching her about the room like the last bag of crisps. So I sure hope I don't get hated for loving this game because that isn't changing.
