many of my friends do not understand the power of minecraft... I can literally play that game all day long but most of the people i hang out with think it's just a girlie creative game. like hell it's not!But i can't talk, i used to be skeptical before i played it, even going as far as to question the manliness of my one friend who liked it before i did.

Red Dead Redemption. The twits at my school are the type of idiots that hate anything that isn't a call of duty shooter; they couldn't take the freeroaming aspect of it, it crushed their narrow little minds. I may sound a bit pretentious, but these guys have no appreciation for gaming as an art medium, and wouldn't know the difference between static death animation and ragdoll physics if you asked them, never mind graphics engines. They hated Borderlands simply because "It looked all weird and everything has an outline and stuff, it's SO glitched."

They though that Borderland's cartoonish art style was a glitch. It just infuriates me how ignorant they are. This is what happens to people who are exposed only to Call of Duty.
...and that's why im happy i'm not at school anymore.

Life gets much better when you are not weighted down by other peoples stupid opinions my friend.

My girlfriend mocks me for liking Final Fantasy XIII. She doesn't know I've pre-ordered XIII-2 already. Yeah Amazon already have it up...

well im not a big call of duty fan like they are
World of Warcraft carries a nerdy stench to those who don't play it, or haven't. It's almost a kneejerk reaction for people to bash on WoW, despite knowing nothing about it.

Deus Ex: Invisible war.

Ok, it's not within snipers distance of it's prequel, but dammit I played it first, liked it and don't connect it to the far superior ancestor in any way.

I bash wow for being heavy in Skinner Box, Mindlessly boring yet clings to your head like a fucking virus. It dragged me in for a month and I consider it a complete wasted month I didn't even enjoy.

Bioshock 1+2 (Yes, 2. I frakking loved it!)
Yeah, I never understood the ire that game got. The only thing it doesn't have on the first game is that big meta twist, but I think it improved upon the first in every other respect: Better shooting mechanics, more balanced guns + plasmids, tougher enemies, a more emotionally engaging storyline, and it was just much more consistent overall, compared to bioshock which fell apart at the end.

It was one of my top games of 2010 for sure. (after Mario galaxy 2 and New vegas.)

Edit: Oh and they got rid of that horrible hacking from the first game. Can't forget that!

Except that WoW also carries a large social aspect to it.

I played it with a girl I was half with, had an active guild on mildly interesting people and it was still a waste of time. wasn't that fun, got no study or animation work done, didn't focus on anything else I should've. When I played I was bored senseless and when I didn't it possessed me.

I'm not trying to get into a discussion of whether or not WoW is good, but to deny that it's a heavily social game is just outright wrong. That's all I'm saying.

I loved, loved, loved Super Mario Sunshine.
Yes, some levels were awful, and others were controller-breakingly frustrating, but I loved that game more than Super Mario 64.
And every SINGLE person I talk to hates it.
It's like SMS killed everybody's families or something...
Yeah when it comes to Nintendo games I actually like the gamecube era best even though I grew up with Ocarina of Time and Mario 64. I actually prefer Wind Waker and Sunshine because bright visuals and satisfying gameplay are fairly rare nowadays. Sometimes I replay Wind Waker just to remind myself what fun feels like. And my nostalgic brother is all like "Oh but lozoot is so much better because... of something I can't explain!

Oh and I recently found out that the ps3 is better than the xbox, something other have yet to figure out. (I own both, used to like the xbox, now I realize the ps3 is better in every way)

GTA IV for some bizarre reason, because it is the best game of ALL TIME! I can't see why anyone would hate it TBH.

well i have one friend...bejesus. he hates every game that isn't competitive, so basically outside of rts/fps multiplayer, he despises all those games and thinks they are a complete waste of time and are garbage (basically every game i play)

so yeah, i hardly talk to him about games at all anymore, but then i get an earful and a half about starcraft II and HoN..

I wasnt so much hated as much simply teased for liking the Pokemon games in general. I still love them and some of the older ones are quite nostalgic for me. Oh well.

I got hated for playing any game that had a 12 rating or lower. Their justification being that they're kids games. Just because they don't do anything morally dubious doesn't mean I can't play them.

Remind me why guns and sex are seen as mature things again? They are obviously things 12 year olds wish they had.
