Portal's a big one, nobody expected much, turned out to be fucking awsome. Also, Frontlines: Fuel for war.

Machinarium, when I hear the term "flash game" I fucking grow tumors. But not only did I fall in love with it, it also made me realise how much I miss point and click adventure games, the genre that I grew up with.

Deus Ex, I really liked invisible war and expected the first to be a let down because I had played the second, but no, I was wrong.

Animal Crossing and Kingdom Hearts.

Both made me cringe when I first saw them. Now two of my favourite games.

Yeah, I thought I wouldn't like the second Skate game, but I still got it for some reason. I did love it, the third didn't change that much.

Also, I heard a lot of bad things about dragon age 2, then I played it and wondered what was wrong with those people that said it was bad. It's one of my favourite bioware games, with mass effect and it's so much better than origins, when it comes to characters, dialogue and story.

I was playing bioshock one fine day and my cousinhad metioned that the charecters on the vending macheins ( the ones that usualy demonstrate how to use a new plasmid) reminded him of fallout 3. Still craving that kind of retro 50's vibe I bought the game not knowing if I would like it. Now consdering I've played fallout 3 and it's add on's to compeltion and am eagerly awaiting for the last two add on's for new vegas I think it's safe to say It made a fan out of me.

Alpha Protocol - Most of the reviews I'd seen were mediocre a best.I only bought it because it was part of a "buy 2 get 3rd one free" offer(it was the free one btw).Turned out to be one of my favourite games of 2010 and possibly one of my favourite games this gen

I was only about 8 and i bought a random game because the case was huge. This was the only thing i had to go by a big game case, the game turned out to be metal gear solid. Needless to say, i've been a fan for years

Prototype. It looked interesting, but I could never convince myself it'd be worth full price. So I let it slide, and eventually I forgot about it.

Then during this current Steam sale I found it going for a few bucks and decided "what the hell" and bought it. I booted it up, not expecting much, but now I just cannot stop playing it.

The story is... eh, but the free roaming around New York City hits a nostalgic center for me (I lived there once) and I'm just loving it. That and eating people is strangely entertaining.

...Huh.

It's slightly different, I didn't expect to dislike it but for the life of me i don't remember why I bought Fire Emblem on GBA but to this day it is one of my most replayed games ever.

Saints Row II. But I blame the Polish marketing of this game supported by apparently some "popular" underground hip-hoppers and rappers. It marketed itself like a game for douchebags. It turned out to be much much more.

Viva Pinata.

I thought it was a stupid kiddy game that came for free with my XBox. I gave it a shot, and fell in love.

OK, I know some people already said "Halo" but yeah, one month ago I was at a party with some friends and the host had a copy of Halo:CE for the PC and I asked him if I could borrow the game for a week or so, and like three days later I purchased a X-Box 360, true story.

Fallout 3. I usually hate FPS's (I know, Fallout isn't an FPS, but that's what it looked like to me), and when someone lent me it, I thought, "Nah, not for me." But they persisted, so I gave it a shot. And loved it. The opening sequence sucked me in and kept me coming back for more.

I think practically everyone who's played it would have to agree - Minecraft.

Literally every single one of my friends (and me of course) thought it was going to be terrible, but one by one we eached got convinced by someone else to atleast give it a try and we ended up loving it. I've never seen a person who both 1. didnt originally think minecraft looked awful and never wanted to try it, then 2. once they did try it absolutely loved it.
