I don't actually agree. Okay, I've only played 2 Telltale games, and yeah, The Walking Dead has virtually nothing to recommend it beyond its stellar storytelling and character building, but I quite like the gameplay in The Wolf Among Us. There's a dynamic feel in most of the fight sequences, and it just really sells Bigby as a mean, rough, badass brawler. In TWD, the QTEs are pass/fail because if you bungle it you get bit and die, but in TWAU you're allowed to screw up and keep fighting. It puts me on edge in a good way, and I love being able to miss a cue, get plowed through a wall, then spit out a tooth and keep swinging. It's a far more personal feel than other combat systems, which may allow for more sweet moves but eventually all blend together into massive one-sided beatdowns.Zhukov said:+1 to Telltale games.
There are other games that I play with story in mind or primarily for the story, but even in those I expect to have at least a little bit of fun with the gameplay.
Telltale games rely 100% on their narrative content. And thus far they haven't disappointed.
Honestly, I felt that TWAU blew its QTE load on that first brawl with the Woodsman.TheVampwizimp said:I don't actually agree. I mean, I know some people have no tolerance for QTEs, but I don't mind them and TWAU is honestly the best possible use of them.
