Games you played and are likely to remember in 10 years from now.

I was browsing through old reviews in this site and was amazed on how few games I still remember from 2007 or 2008.

I can vividly recall with great detail games like Half Life 2, or KOTOR, or the original Super Mario Bros. game from the NES, or even my first PC game ever, Test Drive, but I'll me damned if I can remember the slightest detail about half the games I played last year, not to mention 5 years ago.

For example, I tried replaying Wolfenstein 3D the other day (the original one) and found out that I could still remember the first level to the point of being able to play through it with my eyes closed.

Regardless of their reviews at the time they are launched, some games seem to stick to us, even through the test of time. I guess it might be personal, since I still remember the rather obscure Eden, an adventure game with Dynosaurs I once played in my PC when I was a kid.

Which games from the past 2-3 years do you reckon you will still remember in a decade?

Okami, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Granted, those are slightly older than 3 years old, but these games are brilliant stand-alone titles that I'll remember for years to come (I avoided choosing games with an ongoing series).

All of the Assassin's Creed games, number 2 mainly... Young Ezio has the same attitude as me and he looks like me as far as hair, skin tone and nose shape go...

It's hard to forget a character that is so much like yourself, I love Ezio as a character... or myself I guess, I'm not sure if that just makes me really vain or just a huge fanboy...

Apart from that it is one of my favourite, *ponders*... no, it IS my favourite game franchise, I love the story, the game play and obviously the characters.

I'd even say that I'll probably remember Assassin's Creed for the next 20 years even...

I will only remember how everything was overrated.

Except for The Witcher series, Dragon Age: Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Everything else was just 'meh'.

edit
Maybe Portal 2 will be memorable, but I haven't played it yet.

KOTOR, Dragon Age: Origins, Portal 1-2, GTA IV, maybe the mass effect series depending on how good 3 is. Nothing else comes to mind right now.

Interesting topic! This made me really think about games that have had an impact on me. The only games that I'll remember will be those that have affected me and my life in some way, I would imagine.

I'd say that there aren't many I'll remember in a year's time, let alone ten, but the ones I think I'll probably remember are Bayonetta, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Uncharted 2. I'll also remember American McGee's Alice, even though it's more than 2-3 years old, but it was a fantastic game.
I still remember games like Zelda (GameBoy), Metroid (Nintendo 64) and the original Tomb Raider, but that's more to do with them being legendary games than having any personal impact.

Again, great topic OP, it really makes you consider which games were totally overrated and easily forgettable, and which are truly important to you.
Some developers seem to just churn out games for the cash, not for the love of creating art (which most of us consider games to be), so many recent games are a bit 'meh'. So it's interesting, just for yourself, to prioritise which games actually mean something to you.

Knowing Ubisoft, I don't think you can expect that they will allow you to forget the series, even if you wanted to. They will keep making games for it long after you've had enough of it.

Suikoden 2, half life 2 and oblivion. Each of those games I remember well and probably will for a long time - although if Skyrims too good oblivions memory's may fade. Same applies for Saints Row 2 (and 1).... now that was a good game.

American McGee's Alice is the one game I always think about when someone asks or mentions favorite video games. It always pops up first in my mind and it always will. Although I aven't dived too far into the sequel, I really enjoy it and I believe it will be associated by default (it being the sequel and all).

Also, the new Fallout series will be embedded in my mind, as well as Mass Effect, Gears series, and Deadly Premonition. There are games I've enjoyed more in the past few years (well, maybe not Deadly Premonition), but these games seem to take gaming into new directions that it will be tough to forget. Alas, there will always be Fables for its fun, lies, and potential. This series has been a strange enigma to gaming.

Tales of Vesperia is a notch above most of the JRPGs I played and it's just plain fun to me. I was able to get into the story, and there wasn't a whole ton of excessive dialogue.
Call of Duty...and by that I mean the first two. The rest of the series has become the shooting equivalent to the Madden series.
I could honestly go on with even more, but I think that the main two genres I like had their greatest moments of joy in these games.

Unreal Tournament Series: It was my introduction to PC Gaming
Team Fortress Classic: My first really enjoyable mod. My first really enjoyable Multiplayer game. My introduction to Valve, more or less.
Half-Life: I'd be an idiot not to mention the game that started the series I idolize.
Far Cry 2: Most intriguing story I've seen in a game.
Runescape: It reminds me how far I've come.

Edit: OH SHOOT! How'd I forget Fallout 3, my introduction to Fallout?

I'm pretty sure you've proven your point, OP. So far this tread is full of games that are way older than three years. Either people refuse to read the OP or they, like you, also ave trouble recalling "Memorable Games".

Also as an edit to my original post (it's early), Read Dead Redemption. Hands down, one of the most amazing games I've ever played. Blew me away with gameplay, story, visuals, and musical score. The game left me in awe in a way no game has (except Alice).
