It sounds so strange to "hate" a game. I can understand disliking a game, but how do you come to the point of hating it?

Not possible, me thinks...
Don't worry it is entirely possible. World of Warcraft is a horrible game. Not only does it take up so much of my flatmates time that they half forget I exist. One of my flatmates even neglects to walk his dogs because he doesn't have "time".

I have also been yelled at because I interrupted them during one "life or death" situation, bearing in mind it's a bloody computer game. The thing that gets me is that they are doing the same thing every single day.

It is fair to say that I hate that game. With a passion.

This I can understand, but your not hating the game because of what the game is, your hating the game because of who your mates are =p. They are hooked on the game because they are the kind of people that gets hooked on such a game, so you hate that. You that they neglect everything to play the stupid game, so I guess you end up hating the game, but is it REALLY the game you hate? Aaagh, my head. What did I just say? OO

The only games I repeatedly hate on are Mirror's Edge (because it is terrible in every way) and Babyz First Steps on the Nintendo Wii (for obvious reasons).
Mirror's Edge is a wonderful attempt as something new and interesting, and even tho it didn't work out, I admire the hell out of a large company like Dice for making the gamble and taking their time to make the game. I think it's a great concept that should be further developed, it's sad that they are too afraid to have another go at it with the paranoia of making new and original having kicked in sometime last year.

This made my evening, very well said. =3

You cannot hate a game because a person(s) that play it act outside of your sphere of 'right' or 'normality' just because they play it. It is them that made a conscious decision to start playing and therefore keep playing said game, so if you indeed have to point the finger and blame something, that something would have to be the active issue or problem which is the person making the choice to play, not the game they are playing.

TL;DR
They chose to play it, blame them.
Last I checked, games don't demand to be played on the pain of death. =3

Wild Arms 4,but at this point I'm tired of ragging on it because I've done it so often,so I let the game speak for itself.

I rag on:

WoW; mostly because I think a lot of people who play WoW are stuck in the endless circle alot of MMOs (WoW definatley uses this model) make you run in. I also hate hearing stuff like "WoW-clone" when World of Warcraft's foundation is based on cloning other successful ideas. WoW is in no way original and above other works in terms of originality.

Bethesda; mostly because I wish I liked TES series so much. I can see the potential of what it is as a sandbox, but it just feels so generic. Voice acting, creepy animation of people, lame combat, the leveling system*, and overly cliche storytelling just ruins any hopes of being able to enjoy the idea being presented. All that is left is a generic sandbox.

*the leveling system is a good foundation, but it needs to evolve alot and I don't mean add more stuff. It needs to be fine tuned so that jumping around like a jackass and sneaking in tiny circles for an hour doesn't credit you for it. Similar things like that need to be addressed.

I usually rag on Nintendo for their lack of new IP's, but I don't hate nintendo.
Sorry, what's an IP? I was under the impression that it stood for internet protocol...

I am of the opinion that openly expressing hate/venom about a topic in a place where it is unwanted will just make others think you are a tool. =3
Well. Thanks. Nice to know someone doesn't toss hate around in every direction.

As for me.. hm. Well, I've most recently been disappointed by Mount&Blade, but really, I don't get too upset over these things.

I admit, the only reason I rag on Call of Duty is because my friend keeps trying to persuade me to buy it. (Stupid riot shields *grumblemumble*)

However, I always make it a point to destroy Killzone 2 whenever I get a chance. That game was hyped as the "Halo-killer." The only thing it (almost) killed was my controller and TV.

I don't think I've ever really, really hated a game since that Aliens 3 disc box set trajedy for the PS2. That one where everything looks like it's made of cardboard, and no limbs move, ever, and every level is exactly the fucking same and the whole thing is so...fuuuuuuuuuck. I never really played it either, but my dad was obsessed with it.

Eh. None.

I don't like Nintendo at all, but I don't rag on it. I don't go around in every Nintendo-related thread mentioning how much I dislike it and how much I think the other consoles are better.

Because doing will probably unsettle a lot of Nintendo fans out here (like it does with me seeing mountains of CoD hate every CoD-related thread), which I don't want to do.
Pretty much the same, sure I hate CoD but I don't push it into people's faces 24/7 all the time.
I don't know if this should be called ironic or not, but it's definitely a fun fact.

The very reason I made this post was because I saw your post on the latest Critical Miss and it struck a nerve.

That's pretty funny, I guess.

I will rag on Mass Effect 2 every chance that I get.

Not because it's a bad game, but because it's piss-poor as an RPG.

It's great as an action game, way too shallow as an RPG. To the point of not being an RPG.

Mass Effect 2 is a bloody shooter with minimal amounts of team customization and shallow-as-a-toilet combat. And now it looks like they're doing to Dragon Age 2 what they did with Mass Effect 2, trimming too much fat off, and leaving it bare-bones.

Inventory management was a pain in Mass Effect 1, yes, but only because everything you killed dropped something, and you had a relatively low item capacity. A little tweaking would have made it an non-issue. Trim the fat, Bioware, don't melt it down to the bone.

Alan Wake. Pretentious, unoriginal, purposefully vague to compensate for the writer's inability to craft a genuinely complex narrative. Worst of all, it's a game about a novellist yet has god awful writing comprable to a creative writing class for the mentally ill.

Well, I often point out my issue with Final Fantasy to people... Which is that the majority of male characters look like chicks.

But so it goes for almost every anime on the planet, so. :p
