sounds more like a hardware / software failure and not the game itself though =P

sad story nontheless.
Ah, this is true, but I can't really think of another case of regret. X3
Maybe when I spent £50 on a game to be imported from France because it's banned here. And it really was not worth that amount even if it was a good game.

There's no game I regret buying.

Now that does not mean I have not bought some bad games, but I've bought them know they were bad but had something interesting me anyway, like Battle Construction Vehicles, yes it's a terrible game but how can I not want a game like that and the story is so bizarre it's enjoyable. Other bad games I've bought cheaply, thus still with the feeling that what I got out of it was worth the money spent.

In the absolute worst cases, at least I have something to whine about, and that's fun, I like complaining. Or you learn something about game design, namely how not to do it.

So no, I can't say there's a game I regret buying.

I picked up Mana Khemia for the PSP in the bargain bin. Was basically unplayable and full of weird bugs and glitches.

Oh dear god yes. Lets see:

Mercenaries 2
Two worlds 2
Mirrors Edge
Halo ODST
Halo Wars
DJ hero (I literally hate myself for that lapse in intelligence)
Fallout new vegas
Monster Hunter Tri

have thankfully sold most of them.
not DJ hero. it remains as a painful reminder.

GTA IV. Played about 10 minutes before realizing that i never liked the other GTA games, either.
Gears of War. Played about 1 hour before realizing that i don't like brown shooters, cover-based or otherwise.

Also, had 1 software/hardware issue like the one described above, but mine was with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Tried 2 different copies of that, and neither of them would run on my brand new 360.

Recently, Brink. I was expecting something genuinely different. Instead I got clunky controls, muddy movement, sub-par combat, horrible character design and a "campaign" that is just a random collection of skirmishes against bots.

I was really damn excited for it, too. :(

Was thinking of buying brink, but I think the smart thing to do is to look the other way it seems...

Mercenaries 2- I loved the first game, so when I found a used copy of the sequel with no box or instructions for $8 I bought it. Now I want my $8 back...

Need for Speed: Pro Street - This is the game that made me never buy a NfS game again without renting it first. Seriously, who's the idiot who thought of the whole "Ryan Cooper" storyline? Who the hell needs a story in a racing game anyway? The career mode was a grind, the AI cheats and rubber bands, the voices suck and why do the laws of physics change depending on whether you're drifting, racing on a circuit, racing on a drag strip or racing on a highway? It remains on my shelf as a sad reminder of what once awesome game series have come to with 1 year dev cycles...

Wild Arms 4, for being the sucker punch to the balls that it is.

Tales of Phantasia for the annoying mess of a combat system that ruined any chance of me really liking it.

FarCry 2 - Horrible,horrible game
FarCry Vengeance - Utter shite
GTA4 - Was so dull compared to the older GTA games plus the vehicle controls were terrible
The Orange Box - Portal was fun but HL2 was boring and I never could figure out what was supposed to be so great about TF2

DCUO my friend convinced me to get it and while not bad per se, there just was almost nothing to do and what little there where was really repetitive. And the other was FFX-2 that game was just bad really bad.

only game I sorta regretted was Prototype. I to a degree am disappointed I bought DA:O when it came out. I should have waited for it to go down in price.

Final Fantasy 8.

Anybody that knows me, knows why. If you don't, you can ask. But I warn you...BIG WALL OF TEXT.

Oh, I've regretted many game purchases. The most recent one would be Marvel vs Capcom 3... my initial impression of it was lukewarm but I thought I'd get into it seeing as I loved Street Fighter 4... nope, wasn't for me, too fast and chaotic, leaves me no time to think.
