games you think are over rated

The Conduit - it received a lot of critical praise for being the Wii's only serious shooter, but man...when people say 'good for the Wii', they aren't kidding. It's AWFUL, I couldn't choke down that story with a whole keg of sugar. Of course, story is what I take away from a game. The gameplay itself was pretty much solid, just everything surrounding the gameplay was terrible.
Final Fantasy 6. Admittedly, I didn't finish it, but that's because I got bored and decided to play something else.
Demon Soul. I do think games can be over rated. This happens when the game reviewer gets a little too carried away and starts exaggerating the game play.
You can usually tell when a game is over rated by going to any gaming site and comparing the "reviewers" remarks with the actual players.

First off, you can't have an overrated games discussion without Halo; that's like pancakes without butter. Secondly, by labelling any _other_ game overrated, you're bound to step on someone else's toes, therefore starting a flame war anyway, but this time because someone called Banjo Kazooie "a load of bollocks" (please note I have not played Banjo Kazooie, it is only used here as an example.)y1fella said:
i doubt it. bethesda are working hard on brink. i doubt they have even started development. you know oblivion took three full years to develop and they started development immediately after blood-moon. so they finished fallout 3 2 years ago they have been cranking out dlc and they are currently working on another title, so as much as i wish it were so, i doubt we will see elder scrolls 5 at E3. God of War III. It didn't seem as epic as God of War or its sequel. There was way too much backtracking involved, which I understood was cool in previous instalments because the environments you had visited changed considerably, but having to climb up the chain of balance for the third time made the game seem boring (in parts).
A really good game, mind you, but not as good as its predecessors.

I thought the plot was really stupid. The gods didn't need any more justification for betraying Kratos - he was already terrorising Greece with his Spartan army in God of War II. The whole "unleashing hate/greed/fear unto Olympus" thing was bullshit. And then hope at the end? Fuuuuck.

The entire Final Fantasy franchise, in my opinion. Ridiculously overrated. Recycling is good, yes, but not when it comes to multimedia. Goddamn.
There's also the Halo series, but that's a given. Calling it overrated might as well be considered overrated at this point. I just don't see how it 'revolutionized' first person shooters. Pretty graphics? Amazing! Game of the decade!
I'll say the Modern Warfare games too, but that's almost the same point as Halo.
Oblivion seems to be pretty up there. No matter how many *ahem* 'gamers' - and that's entirely a subjective term at this point - treat that game as if it is godlike. It ain't. Adding to that; Fallout 3. I enjoyed it, but it's not as good as everybody says it is.
That and I don't like my protagonists zipping around like they're wearing omni-directional rollerskates...
I don't see why some consider Gears of War to be overrated though. In my experience, it's every bit as good - and bad - as people say it is. Nobody's treating it as if it's the only franchise everybody will remember in a century.
Speaking of which; the entire Mario line. Same reason as Final Fantasy.
