OT: Star Wars: The Old Republic.

It's an MMO, and wether it wants to or not, it will be competing with WoW, and it will loose.
Although WoW has a lot of the market, I don't think it's death grip is as strong as folks think. Any game can get boring and stale if you play it for 5 years or more. People who started with WoW will be looking for something new (if they haven't already moved on) and new generations of players will prefer the shiny new experience of TOR (or perhaps GW2 if medieval-ish fantasy is their preference).

It's a matter of inertia. If enough people jump on TOR and like it as much or more than WoW, then others will follow. WoW certainly won't disappear, but its dominance of the Western market will probably diminish somewhat. The market's going to look quite different after TOR and GW2 come into their own, I think.

Crysis 2, oh god how I want it to be good, but im not sure...Ive seen the first 30 min of the single player on youtube and I was quite pissed how its just drudging about new york looking for some dude at the top of a building.

The actual gameplay is superb but its not going to be a block buster, not at this time of year anyway.

Crysis 2, I want to believe it can be good but I have yet to hear anything about it that doesn't get on my nerves. Is case you are confused here is a checklist of stupid things to do with the franchise:

Far more drab environments
Far, far more boring enemies
Inconsistent storyline
Laggy multiplayer
Obvious pc port (This may not be as much as an issue as it sounds though, Bulletstorm has proven to me that ports aint all that bad sometimes.)
yeah, i've seen my brother play the beta (naughty pirate), and it's as dull as a rock. the storyline is so ridiculously different from the first that it couldn't possibly be a sequel, there are no giant tentacle monsters, all aliens are easier to kill than most humans, and lame building after lame building is not really original.

the only thing i actually liked was the customization of you suit

crysis 2 was a heap of poo

also,
NO NOMAD!!
Its good to see somebody actually agreeing with me :D.

Yeah seriously though how did the main cast end up going from flying into the alien homebase to defending New York from entirely different aliens with an entirely different art style that not only differs from the first game but is also inferior to it by making the enemies standard bipedal mooks instead of blue glowing floating ice creatures from The Matrix. The shift makes no sense for the aliens culture (Why has the color scheme changed and why are the walkers suddenly less cool) and begs the question of why unstoppable airborne hoards would be replaced by slow ground based cannon fodder.

Final note: At the end of Crysis 1 you see swarms of the incredibly hardy alien machines flowing far overhead after taking out a fleet of battleships and an aircraft carrier and surviving a nuclear explosion, why would they change their tactics after such an overwhelming victory?
My guess is that the aliens from Crysis 1 were the recon and intelligence part of the military and the ones in Crysis 2 are the actual soldiers.

Also why isn't new york frozen?

The only part of the island that was frozen was the sphere. As there is no sphere, there is no ice. Also, nomad was a pussy, Psycho was the man.

OT: I have hated all of the bethesda games that I've played, so i hope that Skyrim fails horribly, which it probably won't, does that count as a vote?

Exactly, the aliens were supposed to be terraforming the planets environment in order to make it inhabitable and as a form of attack.

Another thing, if these are the soldiers, why are they not stronger? Also, why do the recon team have entirely different weaponry and colour scheme? Also also: why are the walkers smaller and weaker (Ive seen the demonstration) and are less manuvorable over rough terrain? Triple also: why was the recon team a huge army caoable of wiping out armies? I assume the game is going to state these new ones are the heavy armoured long distance forces or some bollocks but why they would be this bad and inconsistent with the established alien strategy is beyond me. Anyway sorry for repeated ramble.

I dont know mate, maybe we'll see some bigger walkers towards the finale, remember Crytek still have the element of surprise up their sleve. Also about the soldier aliens, they are faster and more lethal, if the aliens were stronger why would they need the walkers inthe first place? example of this is shown in "The Wall" trailer, able to take down a black hawk helicopter in seconds and deciemate the survivors as well before they can react

Don't doubt Duke Nukem will be let down by it's twelve years of hype and fail miserably.

I don't have the highest hopes for Episode 3, for similar reasons to Duke Nukem.

Final Fantasy XIV. I know its been released, and its bad. But theyre fixing it.....I hope theyre fixing it....
MMOs can change a lot over the course of a few months, so there is hope.

OT:

I want Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One to be good, but I know it'll suck.
Theyve actually scrapped the original team and are trying to fix the entire thing. Thats why the pushed back the PS3 version indefinately.

All 4 One seems interesting, but very odd.

Yeah ok, new york is a lot less interesting then the jungle of some random island, BUT crytek haven't been there yet.
Saw a gameplay video someone put up from the pirated version. What impressed me is that they really seemed to have captured the less well-known features of a Northeaster U.S. city. Haven't been to NYC, but was happy to see a little grassy alcove nestled between the building (saw quite a few of those when I visited Boston). That's the sort of detail that hasn't crept into games like GTA IV, Prototype, or any other game I've played that used a NE city for its setting.

Yeah, it's a city and it's not a really lush environment like in their previous games, but I think if they do a good job scouting locations, they can create a really interesting environment for the game.

Duke Nukem forever.
Yeah, soon as I saw the title of the thread, I instantly thought of Duke Nukem Forever.

Its going to be bad, so very bad, but I hope with all my might that it will be at least half way decent playable.

I want Star Wars: The Old Republic to be good.... but I just know it won't live up to my memories of the KOTOR games.
