Mercenaries 2 and Driv3r could probably benefit a lot from do-overs- good concepts in theory, but let down by a lack of polish.
Well, to be honest Mercenaries 2 got Just Cause 2 (minus the airstrikes, sadly) and Driv3r got Driver Parallel Lines (San Francisco while a great game it is closer to Midtown Madness then the Driver games).

OT: Crackdown, I have been playing with a friend again and while the game is great it would have been cooler if you could play it without always being in OVERDRIVE mode, I mean, the game just has the bosses in varied fortified locations and all I can do to beat them is just aproach them and shoot at their faces? No stealth, no planning, no nothing?

It would be cool if it offered multiple ways of playing the game, something like the Crysis suit in the first game where you can choose to be a super strong in a moment, fast in the other and quickly go back to stealth right after that (Crackdown basicly forces you to play it like all you have is strenght and agility).

KoTOR II Remastered, if only to let the devs actually finish the game. The Restored Content mod can only do so much and unless I'm mistaken we've got little way to know which parts were cut due to time constraints and which were abandoned for story reasons.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (Jugdral Series)

1. Localization, they were SFC titles so Japan only at the time of release so a remake with the larger popularity of the series after Awakening would get them out of Japan.

2. Different take in story and game play. Compared the the Fire Emblems before and after the Jugdral series was a nice Dark Fantasy Fire Emblem with Geneaology having its Large chapter multi-castle sieges and Thracia including many "hardcore" elements that made it tougher but a lot of fun. Combining it with mechanics gained from the more modern Fire Emblems to iron out the annoying factors of the games but keep the more interesting choices that only appeared in the Jugdral games.

2a. Annoying factors: No trading without selling and re-buying at Pawn shop, Confusing relationship and inheritance system, Bad pre-GBA RNG system, Enemy infinite weapon durability, Enemy weapon swap when attacked(If the enemy had an sword and bow and had the sword equiped, if you attacked from range they could equip the bow when attacked), Thracia's Healing staves that could miss, Edit: Individual money and only trading between lovers or from a thief.

2b. Cool Mechanics: Large maps in Geneology(Multiple castles you had to capture and hold along with a base castle that you had to defend at risk of game over), Relationship system (Awakening had it and tying it to the support conversations was a brilliant move), Repairable weapons (similar to other rpgs weapons were less disposable, but the variety requiring a character to keep multiple weapons was intact, weapons could break but remain with a character able to be repaired), Pawn Shop (sell items but keep them for later and buy them back), Stamina in Thracia (little bit annoting but it makes you varry your party and is cool enough that it can come back for a Thracia remake only), Capturing (capture enemy units and take their items, fit with Thracia's theme of being a resistance within a poor country so weapons from a shop would be really expensive), Edit: If made less annoying the individual money could be a cool way to ad a strategy to your funding.

I love these games, I plug a way at a fan translation on my phone any chance I get. I would love to see these games done justice with a remake and some modernization. The mechanics went against what you expect even now form Fire Emblem, and the morally grey, dark story is one of my favorites, and even with those major changes it still feels like what you expect from a Fire Emblem game.

After writing that essay I could use one.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis for PC. This game was pure gold and looked pretty good visually for 2004. If only they would remake it; they could expand upon it so damn much, make it the game it was meant to be.

remake Mass Effect 1 using Mass Effect 3 gameplay. ME was always a shooter-RPG, and while ME1 had amazing story and writing, the shooter end of the gameplay suffered in comparison to ME3.

Jade Empire remade using Arkham-series combat, which is consistently excellent.

honestly i'd love to see a lot of older bioware games remade with modern graphics and stuff because, all else being equal, modern graphics are superior to old-school graphics and if everything else is pretty much the same, I'd have no problem with that.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors as a L4D style shooter, but with all of the wackiness intact. New weapons, new characters, new enemies, new environments, same wacky theme.

Toejam & Earl as a third person 3D action game, or maybe a 3D puzzle platformer. I just want Toejam & Earl in 3D, dammit!
Just what we need on the market. More shooters!
If that shooter is a colorful, shlock horror game where a bunch of teenagers fight zombies, werewolves, mummies, and other stock horror monsters with super soakers, cans of soda, and other random weapons, rather than a "gritty" military shooter, then yes, that's exactly what we need.

A 3D Legend of Zelda, aka a remake of the original. Imagine an over world with a sea of trees full of enemies all while trying to find the dungeons. It would focus less on puzzles and more on combat and navigation. Plus, like the original you can complete the dungeons in any order, get plenty of upgrades before going to the first dungeon, or allow you to not even get them in the first place.

I like to think the sea of trees and little canyons from the original would be amazing in 3D, it would be a more realistic depiction of monster infested wilds. I would love that, make it happen Nintendo please???

It would be nice to see a Driv3r remake.

I can't agree there. Shooterising the entire medium is a plague that needs to stop, period.

Not everything needs to be a shooter.

I'd like a new, multiplatform Tenchu game more like the older Tenchus with random layouts while maintaining the character creation of Tenchu Z.

Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, back stage mechanics, and "other" gender intact. I think it's the only game I know of, at least from WWE that let me have a diva (sorta. I made her, then switched her to "other gender") in season mode, and i had absolutely no restrictions.

'z about all off the top of my head.

But...Zombies Ate My Neighbor already was a shooter. Sure, a top-down shooter, but a shooter none the less. It wouldn't be "shooterizing" anything. Hell, they could make it a TPS, or just stick with the top down style for all I care. I just want a modern Zombies Ate My Neighbor, and I prefer FPS over the other shooter styles, which is why I chose FPS in the first place, personal preference.

You probably don't have a dreamcast but you I think you should at least watch this Let's Play of a game called Illbleed. It's full of schlocky stuff but there's also things... things in it that are life changing. The game gets SOOOOOO messed up in one part that it's astonishing. I'll just mention a tidbit, there's a point in the game where you fight the Satan of toys who is Sonic the Hedgehog.

Life changing.

Further, this is actually a good example of another game I wouldn't mind seeing remade. It is just so completely bonkers that it's glorious. I would LOVE to see it remade.

Edit: Forgot to put in a link.

Master of Magic.

There have been so many games that try to assume the same 'spirit' of Master of Magic and they all either suck or simply stray too far from the original material. Age of Wonders was close but boring. Fallen enchantress is probably the closest. Warlock Master of the Arcane is closer than Age of Wonders but trades a lot to incorporate Civ 5 aspects.

All I want is a graphical update/fix of the original game. It doesn't matter that its basically plagiarism; Master of Magic deserves a remake.

These are some strange ones.

Panzer general 1&2

Fantasy general

MOO 2 (Master of Orion) Sorry GoG, I love you but space combat is still not right.

Beyond Good and Evil (again has issues with the new cards)

Freelancer

There's more but GoG helps a lot and the fan base helps even more.

One thing I would to say is Damm you Microsoft with your changes to file registration.

Games that Windows Vista and above do not accept Icewind Dale 1 and 2, BG2 (strange BG1 is fine) and a lot more.

Windows changed the FILE EXTENSIONS and caused problems that did not need to be.

One major game that has been missed is Betrayal at Krondor. A game that needs a major graphics overhaul (I need to be able to see things a bit better than a blob). The story is amazing (actually written by Raymond E Feist) shame that the graphics are so old.

Golden Sun for Wii U, perhaps? It was my favorite GBA game of all time (over all the Pokemon games), so I'd love a modernized remake. Then again, the arguably outdated battle system was one of my favorite things about the game, aside from the characterization and the music.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age

I would kill to see these two games remade with cleaner graphics. No, I don't want Dark Dawn's chibi nonsense shit. I just want the original's to be cleaner.

Final Fantasy IX

One of my top 3 all-time favorite Final Fantasy titles. I would love to see this game remade with modern graphics. Or at the very least, see it get a much needed cleaning. I would pay thrice the normal price to see it done.

Knights of the old republic. On the ME 3 engine. basically I want to see KoTOR 1 and 2 redone with new graphics, more planets, bigger maps, more side quests, Items, Lore, but still keeping with the original story. just remade with updated hardware and added content.
